Penang State Art Gallery is probably the best and most active state art gallery in Malaysia. Being managed by a team of knowledgeable and committed boards and fully supported by Tourism and Culture State Exco, the gallery constantly organizes various new exhibition events to support local artists at third floor (at which accessibility is an issue), while permanent collections are being displayed at ground floor. If your grab driver has trouble locating the gallery, do tell them it's Dewan Sri Pinang Georgetown. Admission is free

An art gallery that exhibits Penang artists' works - not just limited to paintings but also artistic pieces. It has different exhibits/campaign from time to time so you can visit it again and again. Admission is free and not crowded. Ample carpark available. You could visit the "garden" just outside the hall (still within the gated building) too.

The Art Gallery is located on the third floor of Dewan Sri Pinang. Attended the 59th Anniversary Exhibition of the Penang Teachers Art Circle. There are many beautiful paintings exhibited by the Penang art teachers.

A place to learn about Penang’s history and culture. If you enjoy modern and contemporary art, you could find the paintings and sculptures of local artists here. One of the places to explore local art. Free admission and friendly staffs.

A decent spot for art exhibition or other related events except lack of lift or escalator for disabled person's or wheelchair access entrance

Free entry. Not a very big collection for the permanent exhibition on ground floor. Mainly paintings of artists related to Penang.

Hard to find - not very big- but a real gem. If you enter through gate 2 turn left walk to the end the entrance is on your right on the ground floor before you enter into the last building- temporary exhibitions also on the third floor of the last building.

The signs are unclear, the entrance is hard to find, and the opening hours are a bit arbitrary.

Good cool (literally) to view local artists but avoid the outside toilets! They looked as if they hadn’t been cleaned for years- find somewhere else! Maybe there were toilets within the auditorium but we couldn’t find any.

Closed until January 2023. There is a very small collection downstairs in a separate section that is sometimes open. No clear opening hours.

Confusing and mostly closed. Despite double checking, again another "major attraction" was closed when I went here. Fortunately a member of staff informed me the gallery would reopen at 2pm, despite me walking around the site for almost 30mins. When it did "open" it was a small gallery downstairs, half of which is under construction and closed. The major gallery on Level 3 did not open. The small gallery features some nice local pieces, which are lovely to see. There is also a nice manicured garden with some fish my son enjoyed.
