Not only for the street art that you need to hunt like Easter eggs but the vibe and the feel of this place is something culturally holistic!. This may be the heart of Georgetown ❤️ Enjoy the history, the architecture, the small shops and restaurants and most importantly the warmth of the locals. No wonder this place has been selected as a UNESCO site!

Armenian merchants were some of the early settlers in Singapore in the 1800s, and the oldest Armenian Church was built on the nearby Hill Street. There is a small community of Armenians in Singapore until this day. There are a few notable landmarks along Armenian Street including The Substation which is a contemporary arts centre. The street used to be open to traffic but it is now a paved pedestrian walkway with box planters and warm street lightings.

The street is very touristy, like the whole area, but it is worth it. Lots of street art, even if we can regret that it is not better preserved, some works are completely erased, by seeing tourists touch them. It’s still a great experience.

So many tourists even on weekday. Be careful because some random people suddenly talked to me and asked my name. It was scary. There was also an uncle called me, he spoke Chinese so I don’t really understand but his gesture was like asking for money. Just say no or make a “I don’t understand” expression and they will just go and don’t chase you.

Touristy place with not many stores. Was expecting the street to be a long stretch but was actually short. There are murals that I see many tourist hunting for pictures with but it was nothing special. Only plus side is that there are some pretty nice cafes near the street. Otherwise, the visit to this street can conclude in less than 20-30 mins.

Part of UNESCO heritage walk. Nice place to visit, but not pedestrians friendly as local drivers kept honking at us while we were taking photos and admiring the scenes. Not easy to take photos, so sad.

A wonderful place to get lost in this labyrinth of old streets filled with fascinating old shops and murals on crumbling walls. You can't help but feel like you are walking through a living museum. This must be the soul of Georgetown.

It's a place for a nice stroll in the afternoon. You can find a lot of souvenir shops and cute cafes around. If you're interested in mural hunting, you probably will feel like finding a lot of hidden gems (unique murals) here.

Great place to go / start for street art. Don’t get confused, the street art IS NOT only in this street. It’s all around in town and amazing to watch! Just search with google, they have a link to the map which can be transferred to google so you can see all the pins in Maps and just walk on your own around. Be aware that it’s not 100% up to date

I had an amazing time navigating around the street. The street arts keep you busy and excite the creatives in your head. Definitely recommend getting the coconut drink while navigating around to keep you hydrated while having a taste of the local fruit.

Armenian street is situated in the heart of George Town - the famous 'World Heritage Site' of Penang island. The street has not lost touch with its past glory and it has maintained the unique blend of heritage mansions - some of them converted to famous coffee house, arts & museum center & restaurants. The vintage locality is also famous for chinese temples, Asia's 'melting pot' the famous street food, and more recent 'Street Art' which blends very well with it's past glory & culture from the colonial days, that's more than two hundred years old. You will certainly have an exciting time just walking around the by-lanes of George Town or you could prefer to use one of the colorful Rickshaw, easily found on the streets of George Town. Never miss the beauty of George Town during your trip to Penang. Ideally, you need to provide a complete day for a good view of George Town and to enjoy its splendor.

Quite possibly the most atmospheric and beautiful street in George Town. It's narrow, very popular with tourists and filled with colourful shops and cafes. Lots of street art here as well. You basically can't avoid if it you're here.

Beautiful, vibrant street with Chinese New Year decorations. Every tourist will stop to take a pic with the infamous kids on bicycle wall art. I do hope the Penang govt does something about restoring the street art as it's showing it's age after so many years.

This is a narrow touristy street that is lined with cafes, souvenir shops, and the area where numerous and famous Penang street arts are concentrated. There are also many historic and cultural landmarks such as temples and chinese clan houses that are worth visting.

Luckily not too hot today during my visit. Quiet because it's not a holiday for many. Thus many shops aren't open for business. Some interesting places where you can visit such as the Peranakan museum, batik museum, temples etc

The place has a lot of tourist lining up waiting for their turn to take picture at the street art. Place is accessible on foot. Lots of tourist come by the area with rented bikes as well so if you plan to ride by and check it out, feel free.

A two day detour from Langkawi Island due to cancelled flight home. Spent the days walking around looking for local foods and enjoying local artworks. This was during the fasting month so lots of muslim owned shops were closed, especially mamak restaurants. Armenian Street is quite a walk from the nearest ATM and laundry station for me. Quite noisy too as the place we stayed at is next to a cafe (opens in the evening til late), a recycling collection centre (opens as early as 7am) and of course, it is one of the main street. Basically this area is extremely touristy so if you're a traveller who wants peaceful sleep at night or want to enjoy a quiet daytime, please stay away from this street.

Funny place to go. Watch out for street art work - “the murals” It is a beautiful place to enjoy the cultural heritage of this beautiful quarter. Indian, Chinese, Malaysian culture created this transformation of colonial remains into a vibrant, colorful quarter. For expatriates it is a lovely reminder of what is fun to visit in Asia. For our visitors from Europe it is a magical place to enjoy.

Touristy place with some photo opportunities and shops selling trinkets and costume jewelry. The shops and houses on this street still have the old 100 year old facade.

It's worth a quick visit while you are in George Town. There are also a lot of decent cafes along the street. They also sell souvenirs such as bags, hats, keychain etc at a reasonable price. You can also ride a becak here or rent a bicycle to stroll around the street.

Interesting street and area. Quite eclectic in the shops, bars, restaurants +++ available. Street art galour. It has a different personality during the day which is touristy and engaging and then at night, with some excellent restaurants seeming to appear out of nowhere as they light up for the evening. Trishaw drivers can be a bit painful with their constant touting but pretty harmless

Armenian Street also referred to as Lebuh Armenian is a neat little street in the World Heritage area in George Town. The street runs from Lebuh Acheh to Pengkalan Weld (west to east) and can be conveniently explored when spending time in the World Heritage zone of George Town. Lebuh Armenian takes its name from the small Armenian community that settled in this area of Penang during the early part of the 19th century. They may have mostly moved on but the name has stuck. Now you can find interesting attractions, heritage buildings, quite a few art murals as well as souvenir shops, eateries and a couple of bars. We found a lovely restaurant on Lebuh Armenian called Jawi House Cafe & Gallery (see separate review) and enjoyed some of the popular art murals like the 'Lion Dance', 'Cultural Girls' and 'Kids on Bicycle', 'Skippy', 'Please Care & Bathe Me' and 'Love Me Like Your Fortune Cat'. Note: Viewing the murals in the early morning before crowds show up can make for a fun activity and allows for more unobstructed photographs. Overall, Armenian Street is a neat little stretch of the World Heritage zone that is well worth spending a bit of time to explore during trips to Penang.

Excellent place to spend 2-3 hours walking around the Armenian Street enjoying the beauty of local creative paintings, shopping & lot of food options. A must visit when in Penang. The Tricycle is a must to try as they will help taking around the area and ensure all the key paintings and spots are covered. You do have an option to rent a cycle and enjoy the ride. Do be ready to click lot of pictures

A great place to experience street arts as well as old heritage buidings in the middle of the old George Town City. One of the famous attractions here is the umbrella walkway alongside the numerous street arts available. The place can be quite congested on weekends and school holidays. Local delicacies and sweets can also be found here, sold by vendors at shophouses along the street.

Bustling heart of the town with a few artisan shops and cafés. Busy with tourists and trishaw drivers but beautifully restored traditional houses and temples.

Walking the streets of Georgetown is pleasant around sunset, and an interesting stroll is around Armenian Street. It is a narrow street that has gained popularity in recent years for its rich cultural offerings and street art. Plus the cafes and ice cream parlours that has popped up. Also, the street art decorating the walls attracts selfie enthusiasts. Armenian Street was originally part of a Malay settlement. The subsequent influx of Armenians and Chinese helped to shape the street's multicultural character. Incidentally, Armenian Street was also the site of Sun Yat Sen’s Penang conference, which ultimately contributed to the downfall of the Qing Empire in China in 1911. At least according to Wikipedia.
