OVERRATED! The shop was full & it took them 1 hour to serve banana leaf rice. They did not inform that the rice finished till you became inpatient. And the rice that was served after a long waiting was not even fully cooked. The Vege served is only 1 table spoon per type. The taste of the dishes were good but definitely not worth coming. There are a lot of other restaurants with better service & food. It's not Kerala cuisine, only serves basic banana leaf rice with dishes. No other options of food. So don't get confused with the name.

Greeted by the supervisor or owner but with discontent as we are in group of only 4 person. The place with great environment was for only larger group, and we were directed to next door(in which he just point to me the direction asking me to go out and re entre thru the next door), which to my surprise bad environment looks shabby with bad lighting, old air cond units, chipped table and chair, with dirty glass, decorations. Food was 🤮. Never coming back and don't recommend this place. banana leaf rice side dish #bananaleafriceworst

Good stuff: We had a wonderful dinner. Beautiful kerala food. Variety of rice choices. Always smiling waiters. They had traditional homemade acars and pickles which was just an amazing touch to our banana leaf rice set. Friendly restaurant owner. To improve: Food served are cold, preferably at least the rice to be served hot. Tea/hot beverage can be improved.

Despite of being near full house, the food came out in a surprisingly fast pace. Despite it being fast, the food was incredible. The mutton and chicken curry was so tender that it could fall off the bone effortlessly. Overall, it's a really good experience and the food is just superb.

Went there when it is almost their closing time which at 2.50pm. Their kitchen closes at 3pm. Tried their banana leaf set and the taste was great. Good ambience suitable for big families. The price reasonable too.

(Might be biased) Grew up eating at Passions of Kerala when i was younger. This place retains the exact taste with minor differences, after 10 years. Be warned; this branch and the branch in Gelugor is NOT THE SAME. The food quality here far exceeds the other branch. This is the true Passions of Kerala. Food Quality: Top notch. Tight. A good measure for a good indian restaurant is how they prepare their Rasam & Chicken curry. Rasam is extremely well done. Generous with ingredients. Not too spicy, as rasam should be. Chicken masala was divine with a distinct taste. Chicken curry is top notch. Food was great. Highly recommended. I recommend the chicken masala, fish sambal, mutton curry and banana leaf rice set with tomato rice. 10/10. Price: Pricier than other options. But that begets the question; for the food, was it worth it? Yes. Id pay twice the amount, for this food. 3 people for RM 60. Ambience: When you enter, there’s a specific smell, you can’t find anywhere else, but a passions of kerala. I remember this since i was 8 years old. Ambience is great. Service: Top notch, restaurant was packed and they still served relatively quick, within 15 minutes everything was delivered to our table. Highly recommended.

Wow the foods at Passion of Kerala in New World park always outstanding and generous in portion. I decided to have tomoto rice and some other dishes such as curry first, curry chicken etc.

Food was good, service average. Assume the owner(man) was not happy because we have 5 adults and 2 kids but we ordered 4 rice (as we don’t take too much carbohydrates)

Used to be my fav banana leaf restaurant but since 2.5 years ago I rarely frequent this restaurant as I feel the price is getting ridiculous and portion is getting really small. However, yesterday I have decided to give it another chance so I went again. Yet again, I am disappointed. The banana leaf with white rice is RM12 and they gave a small portion of side dish on the first round itself. It’s like they encourage you to order add on dishes on which we did. Asked to add a little bit more side dish and again so little on second round. Added up 2 rounds of vegetarian side dish with rice also not worth RM12. Some nasi kandar or nasi dagang stalls may charge say like RM12-14 but at least it’s proper with chicken, eggs and veggies, this is all vegetarian small portion side dishes and it’s RM12! They add A LOT of shallot/onion into the fried cauliflower and fried bitter gourd making both the dishes taste more like fried shallot/onion rather than cauliflower and bitter gourd. Both of these dishes are very disappointing. If you intend to only order one dish, I would recommend the mutton varuval. The rest you may wanna give them a skip. Anyway this place is just a normal banana leaf restaurant. If the owners intend to over-charge his patrons, at least upgrade the restaurant, newer more comfortable tables and chairs to look the worth.

Just OK, but I expected far better for such a highly rated restaurant. I had the chicken masala and the banana leaf set. If I’m honest, every single veg curry and sauce tasted quite bland to me, compared to others I’ve had in Malaysia, India and elsewhere. The chicken was particularly disappointing. Although it was tender and well cooked, it just wasn’t very flavourful, at least for my liking. And it was served lukewarm to cold, which didn’t help either. Other than that, service was fast and professional, and the premises are clean and kept at a nice temperature. Definitely not memorable but the price is reasonable, and they have many more dishes on the menu, so maybe worth trying if you’re in the mood for some Indian food.

Recommended for their nasi daun pisang. They maintain their standards as long before. Came back from Saudi and visited this place with my family, the taste brought me back as my old memories! Keep up the good work!

A comfortable restaurant in Georgetown to enjoy banana leaf rice. Food wise was alright but nothing particularly impressive or delicious. The lady boss strongly recommended the fried squid but it was quite tasteless. The curry sauce is very salty and papadam is a bit over fried.

Wonderful banana leaf rice. Service was good and fast even on Saturday dinner time. Curry was flavourful and packed with spice. Fried chicken is dry but flavourful, squid was well seasoned and tender while the fried brinjal was tasty. Environment felt a little cramped but the service was wonderful. Staff was cheerful and helpful.

One of my all time favorite place to go when I crave for banana leaf rice. The original shop is at Gelugor and they have since expanded to New World Park long time ago. Badically almost all the dishes here is nice and puts a smile on my face every time I eat here. Pure satisfaction. The only other shop I like when it comes to banana leaf is Sri Ananda Bahwan. But you definitely can't go wrong here at Passions of Kerala. Highly recommended by me. If you notice, I did not elaborate much on the food because it is really good, don't read any more reviews. Just go and try it!

The famous Banana Leaf Set Rice taste was delicious serve with nasi Briyani Rice or you can change to white rice or tomato rice.Value for money , portion is big. Mutton dishes cooked much faster and juicy. Friendly staff.

Taste not good. Not worth the price , portion is small . We went for dinner. Clearly the chicken and mutton dishes cooked much earlier . They just pre heated it before serving. Definitely not for revisit

😠 I reached at around 2:30pm and still need to queue till 3:00 pm. Disappointed with the food because the deep fried fish roe and fish are hard rather than crispy. The gravy is also so so only.

👍 Queue seemed quite long when we arrived around 2.30 pm but we only waited about 20 minutes. I think they should have more signage to tell customers what to do so the process can be easier. There was only one waiter upstairs in the seating area so it was quite difficult to get his attention. Food is...
