Cafe Coffee shop

👍 I love the coffee blends here. I am a big fan of fruity/acidic coffee, the Ethiopia blends here is good. There are also some cakes & bread pudding available here. The ambience is cozy. Side note: As we enter the cafe at 3.38pm, perhaps can remind us that the cafe is closing at 4pm before we place... People often mention coffee, good, cafe, cake, cakes, time, Penang, limited, great, shop,

It’s hard to recognize this coffee shop from the outside if I didn’t mean to find it. But coming in, I was astonished at the spacious, bright and peaceful environment, like a place where people come to slow down their lives. We would have to place our order at the front door first. The range of drinks is limited but I’m sure coffee is a must-try selection. Chocolate drink is also cool with comfortable cocoa scent and not too sweet. Homemade cakes are definitely tasty and enjoyable. Service was quick and lovely. Free water is provided so it’s not a problem when you would like to sit for a while.

Good specialty coffee. The pour over I tried was brewed well. Really nice vibe inside the cafe. They're strict with the time at the table if it's busy. The cakes and pastries looked very good; the cake I tried was light. They also sell coffee and coffee table books.

You want a home away from home? Ome is the place to be. The coffee connoisseurs are sure to find what tickles your taste buds. Try their Olive Oil Zucchini cake, Blueberry bread pudding and the crisp bowl! A cozy and warm (not temperature) place to be.

Easily one of the best pour over coffee i had so far, Collona Diego Samuel Bermudez, the cinnamon & chocolate flavour busting in mouth. Expect slightly crowded but the staff were so friendly.

Coffee was good. Loved the dark chocolate walnut cake. Limited sitting especially now with SOP being tight. Nice environment. Love the exposed bricks with the natural sunlight

Friendly and helpful staff, incredibly beautiful space preserving the original building's characteristics where you could appreciate the raw red brick walls. Coffee wise, I've yet to appreciate a RM14 nitrobrew. Otherwise, I would love to try their classic long black next round.

Love this place. Best coffee I have found in Penang. Excellent cakes, baked fresh on-site throughout the day. The staff are very friendly and kind. Chill and relaxing vibe. Only downside is one hour limit on the tables, but it is understandable due to their popularity and limited space. And they are chill about it - the limit isn't enforced if they don't have to do so because of waiting patrons. 100% recommend. A must visit destination.

Quirky little cafe well hidden along Lorong Tok Aka. You may miss it if you don't look hard enough. You will be pleasantly surprised by how well this cafe maximise their limited space and yet it's well lit with natural light. Great environment with good coffee. Love their freshly baked cakes & cookies. They were baking zucchini & olive cake when I arrived and the smell was just amazing. Their cakes complement the drinks and they are tasty & not too sweet. 😋 Friendly and helpful crew. Will definitely come back during off peak hours to enjoy some me time with coffee.

Back to this shop for more coffee few days later. After going around Georgetown for coffee, this outlet is the best coffee outlet for me. Nice aromatic coffee, good house cake and great environment. They have wide range of beans for filter coffee. The staff on duty are super helpful and friendly.

Despite the small space, their rustic interior elements of bricks, wood and plants brought a sense of nature dining there: cozy and relaxing. Their homemade cakes are delicious, soft and not too sweet, not only that, pairing them with their range of coffee bean choices just made it even better. For the coffee enthusiast, you can even buy back a selection of coffee beans, equipment, to merchandises. This is a must visit while you’re in Penang!

Good day everyone, today introduced a little cosy cafe at the alley of Heritage side Georgetown. Ome by Spacebar Coffee. I love it because open at 7.30am. Easy to find parking and not crowded on that time of hours🤭🤭🤭🤭. Good coffee and cakes. Is a good place for you to relax after a morning walk 🥰🥰🥰🥰. Because of the limited space, they district One hour per customer when it’s crowded. 😬😬😬😬 Ordered coffee with milk double (9oz)RM14 Nice coffee flavour. Is not strong but comfortable and relaxing. Olive oil and Zucchini slice. RM15 Very fragrant and mix well with the coffee. If you are a coffee lover, this is the right place to go. 😉😉😉😉😉

What a gem! Great coffee spot in a quiet hideout in the middle of Georgetown, and perhaps one of the best! Spacious and airy, and totally home styled and not pretentious. Staff were all helpful and friendly, and recommended their zucchini and olive slice, which is just the best option if you don't like things too sweet. Some people may have complained that the menu is limited, but I disagree. They're focused on what they do, and they do a fantastic job in bringing that cuppa joe to brighten up any hectic day. Keep it up! 😀

This cafe is pretty. The zucchini and olive slice is really yummy and coffee is very good. I like that it's a small cup for only $10. Also loved the cup my coffee was served in. The menu however, was very limited and besides the slice, we couldn't find anything else to eat. And yet, there is a condition that everyone in the party must order at least 1 item, AND there is a limit of one hour visit. I can understand the limitation on space but there is only 1 other person there the whole time we were there at 9ish am. I would suggest being less rigid with the conditions when it's not peak hour, otherwise would just come across as greedy. The space and coffee drinking should be a pleasant relaxing experience, not one where you're forced to eat/drink something you don't want to eat, and where you are hurried out the door before you even get through it!

Came here because of a friend’s recommendation. It’s ish in an alley and beautifully decorated. The house blend white coffee was ridiculously good and service of everyone was super friendly :) There’s a wifi code if you make a purchase and a limit of 1 hour seating if the place is crowded, which is understandable given the popularity of this place. That said, the cafe maintained a peaceful and chill vibe with none of the loud chatter that sometimes fills cafes with too many guests/ bad sound proofing. Perfect for an afternoon coffee and nice break with a book ☺️

So we wanted to visit the cafe but unfortunately it was full. But the reason why I am still writing this review is to share my experience. Just to note, I would not want to visit again. When we reached there, the guy who were there taking names as waiting list to go in to the cafe asked us how many of us would want to dine in and I mention that there are 3 of us, so he looked over his list and replied us within seconds mention is full at the moment perhaps we have to wait for an hour and immediately he mentioned you can come back again next time. So there were no apology and I felt we immediately got rejected perhaps because we wore plain clothes ?! I don’t know but just to mention we are not blind cause there were no one queuing at that point 🙄. Here you go, see the queue whoa amazed !

(Translated by Google) Walking around and found a small cafe in a corner of a quiet alley. The faint coffee aroma seems to hook your soul in. So I stopped 👣, took a break and had a cup of coffee and a piece of cake. The coffee is really good. . . Delicious. Remember to taste the "olive oil zucchini slice" here. I was curious at first, what should this smell like? As a result, the taste buds were flashed. Sweet and sour, salty and fragrant, every bite is full of magical fantasy. highly recommended. do not miss it. 27/12/2020: This time I brought my friends from Hong Kong here again for coffee. My friend is very satisfied.

Quite simply the best - in every way! A very pleasant cafe with a superb atmosphere, this is the place to get your coffee in Penang. The staff are amazing - attentive and kind, quick with service and very courteous. The food is incredible, with the fruit crisp the best I’ve ever tasted. And the coffee, well it is the only coffee worth getting in the area! Another bonus is the early opening hours which is very convenient for those who are morning people. Highly, highly recommend. 😁

+1 accommodating staff. Friendly tone throughout service. +1 the water that came with coffee taste good (no muddy or chlorine taste); cafe is serious about their water shows how much they care for coffee too. +1+1 pleasant environment and coffee serving in decent size cup. One of the rare ones that are able to make coffee the way I like it. +1 Staff all vaccinated and premise is sanitised. Measurements against covid is important. Will come back again as both service and coffee is great.

I love the coffee in Ome by Spacebar, really good, aromatic, the milk foam is perfect. The salted chocolate is not bad too. However, there are limited food to order, not a good place for a meal but a perfect place for tea or to hang out with friends. Another thing, this shop is located behind an alley, first timer might find it difficult to locate the shop. Enjoy guys!

Friendly staff and love the chill ambience this place has got going. The dark chocolate pistachio cake is a must try, wasn’t too sweet or dry. Their Ome house blend is worth trying too, although I thought it could do with less milk as the coffee has a weak body and was overshadowed by the milk. Milk could be steamed longer too. Do note that there are limited seating available as they follow SOPs strictly!

Good coffee in a nice space. I thought the coffee was pretty weak but I’m starting to find out that Malaysia espresso based coffee (latte, etc.) can be pretty weak. Apparently in some countries such as Australia where I’m from we use bigger shots of espresso. If you want something stronger choose a darker blend and/or ask for it strong. I initially thought they just made me a weak coffee so I asked the staff and they remade me one for free with a different bean so points to them for great customer service! On a side note, I wish these cafes would have sparkling/soda water. It’s so nice to have with a coffee.

Easy access and to find. I walked from hotel for my morning coffee after running. Parking at side road. Rustic and old style cafe. Had double Espresso and Olive Oil Zucchini slice (yummy). Affordable price. Friendly baristas and fast service. Recommended for hang out 👍👍👍

This is of the best coffee places in Malaysia. It’s at the top of my list, if I had to pick one. They offer a wide range of beans from roasters around the world i.e. UK, Japan & Malaysia when I visited. The brewing was as good as it gets, and the ambience was nice. It seemed to be run by people who live for the craft. Do expect to wait for a short while during busy days. Highly recommended.

We heard this cafe is a famous one in Penang, however I think it was overrated as reasons below, 1. Coffee latte (we had iced coffee latte) was overall good, has special fruity passion fruit and chocolate hint which is quite special and good. It depends on individual taste, could be positive to some and could negative to others (we were 8 and we had different opinion) 2. Cake (we had dark chocolate pistachios) was average good, quite moist and not overtly sweet 3. Service was extremely bad! We entered the cafe by receiving a message from a staff that had you decided to stay or leaving now which for us was super rude. Then we were a sitting inside the cafe after ordering drinks and cake, and the same person used a rude tone to ask “so you want to stay?”, seems to us that we were there just to occupy their space. 4. Ambient was average, just good to avoid the hotness in Penang (many cafes nearby have better ambience). Just take note, there is limited 1 hour stay and minimum 1 order person (which is understandable for business purpose) Overall, we found they treated their clients very badly even though we knew that they have limited space to do their business but the tone they used was very offensive. I am sure you could fine better coffee and cake in other cafes nearby where we did try others. Definitely not going back to OME by Spacebar!

I was fascinated by the interesting cakes and breads offered in this cafe such as the Turmeric Persimmon cake and the Zucchini bread. The Zucchini bread was really delightful with the right moisture and the tinge of fresh zucchini flavour. It went very well with the light sour cream that comes at the side. I think it was also topped with some sea salts flakes on the crust itself which elevate my taste palate. I could actually eat the whole slices without the sour cream at all. As for the cookies, it was baked to perfection. Again it went so well with the flaky salts. And the choclate wasn’t over gooey but just turn out with the right thickness. I am okey with the Nada Keffir. As for the filter coffee, we are slightly let down as the coffee was not brewed in temperature to our liking to bring out more of the aroma from the bean. Also the cafe comes with an hour limitation rules. We totally understood the need of this due to the limited spacing. But we would appreciate that they have told us up front before we placed the order so that we can order the right amount of food to fully indulge in the 1 hour time limitation.

Good coffee, so I take black always to try out their real taste of the bean. Comfortable n cozy environment. Good service crew to explain the bean well. I choose black as usual this round, and bake granola mix with yogurt. This round it take a little longer time to serve than usual. Make sure u have plenty of time before entering. (Because i visited before my working hour start) Overall, is Good.

Turn into Lorong Toh Aka and slow down your vehicle as you might just drive pass it without noticing. The first shop at your left hand side, entrance full of greens and pots and a coffee table. Sipping a cup of coffee at Ome by Spacebar is a very mind calming and relaxing experience.Ordered a cup of latte, Chinese tea and a pastry baked with zucchini and olive. All were good especially the pound cake, which comes with a splash of sourish white cream. Environment wise is cozy. Space is limited. Suitable for smaller group and lone ranger. Price is reasonable. They are also selling some merchandise.

A quiet and tranquil cafe located in one of the back alleys, hidden away from the hustle and bustle. Their coffee and fermented raspberry mango soda were exceptional, and the sesame banana rye bread was amazing as well. They even sell Square Mile coffee beans by James Hoffmann ! It will be a cafe that I might revisit again

Definitely one of the best cafes in Penang! Ive never tasted such delicious pastries that i tapao for myself and friends. Obsessed with their olive oil slice. So so good! Friendly baristas, know how to make recommendations based on your preference and liking! Could get busy and customers are allowed to stay for an hour only. Not your typical coffee shops where you can stay a bit longer for some work. Nevertheless, still the best!

Nice light to medium bodied coffee, free wifi and lovely ambience. We had an iced latte and a double shot piccolo (which still didn’t taste very strong by Melbourne, Australia standards 😉) and was served on the high side of warm rather than hot which to me means it’s too lukewarm by the time you are halfway through.

Didn’t care much for the milk coffee, but the pour over was out of this world! Such delineation in the brew. Had the Apollons Gold (cool find in Penang!) It's a small cafe along Toh Aka Street but don't be fool by their size. They have a great selection of coffee beans. Limited pastries available daily, and so is the seating. Either come during weekdays, sit outside, or just do take-out.

The coffee is one of the best in Penang. I tried the zucchini loaf which was nice if you enjoy sweet and salty combination. The customer service is great with attentive staff. The space has nice decor but as the cafe gets quite busy it can feel a little tight. The location is in a charming old street in Georgetown which adds to the charm of the place.

We visited this place smack bang in the middle of the Deepavali celebrations. Although it was intense outside, it is a sanctuary inside. It's almost like you're in Melbourne. I actually never been to Melbourne. But apparently the place has got good coffee, chilled vibes and a lot of hipsters. So yeah. Melbourne. Might be hard to get a seat as the place is popular, but there is limited seating time. I can't remember whether it's 60 minutes or 90 minutes, so keep that in mind. But of course the coffee is decent and the music is good, so it's worth a visit.

An aesthetically pleasing quaint cafe serving pretty good coffee and loaf cakes too! Their coffee style is similar to the ones I've tried in Melbourne, not too heavy on flavour and body but still aromatic and tasty on a gentle level. Really nice place to chill. One thing to comment on is that they did not have background music so i was missing out on the atmosphere but generally a nice place. Would come back again when I'm around Penang ^^

As other reviews note the cake selection is not large but whatever you order you can be sure it will be good as everything is baked fresh in the shop. Try the olive oil zucchini cake, it's delicious! Had three filter coffees (Colombia and Ethiopian) in the past two visits and loved all of them. Home made cakes were perfect and go really well with my coffee. I believe I had coffee and pecan, butter pound cake (check with them what’s freshly baked or what’s in the oven!) or just order whatever that smells good! Wish I could get good coffee and cakes like these during coffee breaks at work everyday. :)

A quaint little shop lot that delivers immensely with it's coffee spread. I took the drip coffee that was roasted in Canada and eventhough they didn't have anything smokey, a good recommendation given by the cashier upfront provided me with a sweet cup of coffee. I may not be a fan of a sweet cup of coffee but somehow it happened to surprise me. Limited seating is definitely one of the issues however Ome is small and simple enough to deliver it's one and only product. A good 9/10.

    - The handbrew was very nice, just the way I like it : vibrant fruitiness and pleasant sourness in a cup! - Friendly and fun staff - Soft centered sea salt choc cookie was nice too but could be better if it is less sweet - One thing not so good bout their shop is that it's a narrow and long shop. Hence, seatings weren't thatttt comfortable to chill for long

A sweet smile welcoming you. Now that is a good start for your morning. Simple cafe offering coffee, tea, juices and home made cakes. No heavy food here, so it's great to kick start your day and I tried the cold nitro (superb) and ohh the olive oil+ zuchini cake..super yum..sprinkled with sea salt and cream 😊

Had black iced coffee and it was strong and quite acidic which is to my liking. Unfortunately, their place is too small. Go there, have ur coffee for 30mins then go. Not a place for u to sit n enjoy the coffee any longer than that.

Delicious pour over seasonal coffee. They source beans from roasters locally from Penang-JB and till London. Wide variety of Geisha, Colombia, Rwanda and more. This time we had Rwanda, Colombia and Costa Rica. Staff were very knowledgeable about their beans and also have wonderful service. Will definitely be back.

If you want to have a nice cappucino in Italian style (not Penang white coffee), with a deliecious piece of cake and a peaceful atmosphere to relax and have a chat with your friends, this is a great place to come. I ordered a cold pressed juice (kale, bok choy, pine apple, apple, ...) which was really good, fresh and healthy. And I also love the zuchini olive cake there. I would definitely come again if I come back to Penang.

Highly recommended place for their dessert/ coffee. Most memorable dessert for me is their zucchini bread and olive oil is the most unique dessert i have ever had, and it's really unexpectedly good. Coffee/ beverage portion is quite small but it's still yummy.

Expensive coffee 14rm for just 9oz. Cool and hip environment, peaceful and nice place to meet, read or work (free WiFi limited time 1 hour) but I would not come back as there are cheaper places with better tasting coffee.

😠 Premium price tag but lousy service! There should be no star at all! I bring my family of 5 came for dessert around 8.30pm. There quite a few empty tables around but we were assigned to a long table underneath a staircase. The area is really tight. The wooden stool is not stable and there is no bac...

🫤 Overrated. Tried pork leg rice, Penang loh mee and Penang style CCF, all were subpar. Pork leg rice - Quite bland. The egg used was not even a proper lu-dan (soy egg), just a plain hard boiled egg. They did not even serve it with salted vege. Not good and not authentic. Penang loh mee - I'm a...
