📍Joies Sourdough & Café, Penang Twice have I been here, and twice the pasta was AMAZING (Ironically, it's a Sourdough bakery, but I am thoroughly in love with their pastas). 🍝This Café serves perhaps one of my favourite Aglia-Olio's of all time. Spicy, rich, articulately presented, the Aglia-Olio has a smoky after-taste, which really makes my mouth water. You can ask for extra spicy, and you would have no regrets. 🍜Just look at the Spaghetti Carbonara! I am not actually carbonara as it tends to be to creamy for my liking. However, this café made it an exception.. I don't know if you can serve it better than that.. Admire the perfectly formed yolk in the middle of the dish; gain that satisfaction of bursting the bubble, and relishing an incredible dish. 🥪Joeis Café makes every single dish an art, especially their sourdough breads. I had the Sourdough Blackpepper Mushroom; lovely to the tongue. I'll definitely be back again. This is a beautiful café to re-visit for a gastronomic adventure..

Came here for lunch but unfortunately for the time being, the kitchen is closed at the moment. But they still have bakery and beverages. The cafe is nicely decorated and hope that they will bring back their food menu soon. If they do, I will definitely go for breakfast or lunch there

Plant-based food that is made well and flavorful. Wonderful service, food comes fast, and very tasty yet low caloric tofu-cheesecakes will bring a smile to your face. Definitely a must try!

Overall ratings: 1. Delicious vegan pasta, we ordered creamy pesto and tempeh bolognese pastas. RM22 & RM24- slightly higher price compared to other cafes. 2. Lime Avocado tofu cheesecake- no taste of lime or avocado, priced at RM15 for very small portion. But presentation is good. 3. Broccoli soup- creamy and hearty. Recommended! 3. Minus 2 stars because of bad customer service and purchasing system- we asked for hardcopy menu, waitress said it’s yet to be printed. We had to scan QR code for menu but ordered and paid manually at the counter. We wanted to purchase sourdough from the cafe directly on a Friday afternoon(1:20pm) but was told it’s sold out, and need to be pre-ordered. Then we asked if we could made payment for sourdough directly at the counter since we already dined-in and come back to collect the next day, cashier told us to order online and specifically tell them the collection time. What kind of troublesome system is this and make your customer life so miserable to buy a sourdough bread from your bakery when they already dine-in at the cafe? Guess what, no next time even though the vegan pasta is good.

Actually the reviews about the tofu cheese cake caught my eyes, the sourdough is also one of the reason. The ambient was great and the staff was nice and friendly, introduce about their sourdoughs. Price was average. I grabbed each of the turmeric and the red rice sourdough for my brother, and he loves it, it’s flavorful and taste good. I wanted to get the tofu cake back to hometown but they mentioned the cakes have to be eaten within 30 minutes, therefore it was impossible to take it home as it’s going to be 2 hours driving. So I picked only one chocolate flavor tofu cheese cake to eat before heading home. The cake taste so creamy and smooth !

Joeis Sourdough Bakery Cafe is located at Pulau Tikus. They served cafe based food from spaghetti to sourdough with side dishes. Their coffee was good, fragrant and flavorful enough. This is food that we ordered: 1) sourdough with sautéed mushroom - sourdough was good, crunchy and soft, sauteed mushroom taste great, great combination 2) tofu chocolate cheesecake - taste was good with soft texture on the top

The sourdough bread taste really good. Scramble egg is amazing also. Coffee is good but kinda hope can improve in latte art haha. Ordered a tofu cheesecake for takeaway and it is really good too.

Great food. Big platter really live up to its name -- big portion. This restaurant actually serve food that look exactly like the pictures on their premium menu! Coffees come in small servings. And strong. Service crew look a bit hectic, although friendly and helpful. We actually had to asked twice to get our extra plates, as the first one was pinned down by the ordering queue.

Ordered Aubergine in Red, Ragu Tofu Burger, Tofu Cheesecake and Hot Latte. Pasta taste is OK, not impressive. Burger is surprisingly awesome, creative tofu patty with great taste. A little bit disappointment here is the burger is not made of sourdough bread. Cheesecake is not bad. Doubleshot espresso latte is definitely the MVP of all the dishes I have, medium roast coffeebean is just perfect!

I love sourdough so I was super excited to check this place out. My friend and I shared the peanut butter sourdough and it was disappointing. The peanut butter is supposed to be home made but it’s so sweet and doesn’t taste like pure peanut butter. I make my own peanut butter as well and this tasted nothing like it. I suggest that they keep it to pure peanut butter without adding anything! The peanut butter was so overpowering I couldn’t taste the sourdough at all. That said, I gave 4 stars as the service was great! The sourdough options were interesting and I got the purple sweet potato + raisins one to go - am excited to try. My friend’s matcha latte was very nice. Serving was generous and although a bit weird, we appreciated that our PB sourdough came with salad and an egg.

Love their sourdough. Nice ambience for dining. My kids like their carbonara sauce spaghetti. Tofu cheese cake is also great. Mostly their food is healthy and less sugar some are no sugar added.

This is one of the best tasting meatless place in town! The service is good, staff is always friendly and they have a wide variety of dishes to choose from. I highly recommend their red pepper soup (rm15) and hot matcha latte (rm15). Matcha latte is always thick with just the right dose of sweetness with the slight bitterness from the matcha. The red pepper soup is especially flavourful! ❤️ Definitely recommend this place for healthy food!

Pork free ✅ friendly & helpful staff ✅ calm atmosphere ✅ I asked if the place is pork free when I walked in & the worker kindly told us Yes, and they don’t serve meat (If i recall correctly). We ordered pastas aglio olio & carbonara for RM24 each. The serving is big! And it was soooo delicious. I’ve tasted aglio olio in many restaurants before as its my favourite pasta, and this aglio olio at this cafe is number 2 in my list so far🤭honestly might be number one if topped with seafood hehe. For drinks I would recommend the juices. I got fresh orange juice and it was very fresh 🥰 Will definitely come again with my family next time!

WOW! I just stumbled upon this Penang gem after a visit to Chaiya Mangalaram and other temples along Lorong Burma. Poking around after a stroll past Pulau Tikus Wet Market there fiesty thing that caught my attention was there upper porch and Sourdough in the name. I grew up with Sourdough as a staple in San Francisco so to enjoy it around the world has been a life-long goal. The staff are lovely. The ambiance is peaceful. The menu is mouth-watering. The coffee was excellent. I will be back again. This place deserves UNESCO Heritage status. 5🌟 dining and experience for sure.

The foods are tasty and healthy. Homemade carbonara sauce creamy but not greasy. The sourdough bread soft texture, nice to be eaten in either pizza or burger, and it is crunchy, well matched with the delicious ingredients. The food presentation is of a high standard. Berry beet smoothie is good as well.

Best find in town. Me and my friend were just searching out cafes to try when we found this. It literally is one of the most delicious and natural food tasting cafe Ive had in the world (no joke). The naturalness of their ingredients like vegetables, sourdough bread, soup, juice - salivating even after reaching back home in Singapore. My favourite was berry beet juice I even had 3 cups in day (which led me to miss my flight when I thought I’ve had time to get one last berry beet before flying 🥹). Hands down best cafe.

Most professional service and attentive staff I experienced during my stay in Malaysia, really very positively impressed. The atmosphere is not overly inviting though, resembling a simple diner in a train station or somewhere where you would not want to spend too much time anyway. All bread was unfortunately sold out even though we came several hours before the shop closed. We ordered the red pepper soup which was really good, funnily enough it was not served with even a single slice of bread (even though they stated that they could still prepare sandwiches, so it was not a problem of having really run out of bread completely but the dish apparently was really supposed to come without bread). Instead some ... how should I say... breadcrumbs (?!) were put next to the soup that resembled more something like the leftovers on the bottom of an oven rather than something you'd dare to serve your customers (then again those breadcrumbs tasted good, but still...). Coffee was average.

Tried the big platter and blueberry cheese tofu cake (picture). The big platter are to be shared between 2 people. 3 spreads available (egg mayo, sweet onion and hummus). Eaten with sourdough bread (Chef kisses). I was mind blown how the tofu cheese cake taste like real cake made of egg. Highly recommend this restaurant. Will definitely go back again.

The green goddess smoothie and the mango strawberry smoothie were nicely thick and cold. Keep in mind banana and the avocado of the green goddess oxidizes quickly so drink it quickly too. We also had the big breakfast platter to sample their main items. The hardy sourdough was an ample base for the various toppings. Overall, worth trying.

Just had coffee here and love the latte and bought some bread to have with it. Was hoping for lunch but unfortunately the lunch and dinner menu is not available as their kitchen is still closed. Looking forward to it opening again.

🫤 Overrated. Tried pork leg rice, Penang loh mee and Penang style CCF, all were subpar. Pork leg rice - Quite bland. The egg used was not even a proper lu-dan (soy egg), just a plain hard boiled egg. They did not even serve it with salted vege. Not good and not authentic. Penang loh mee - I'm a...
