This is not the usual wantan mee that you find at nearly every kopitiam in Penang. This wantan mee is without dark soy sauce. Instead it's coated with an abalone coloured sauce. In addition to this flavourful sauce, there's definitely some pork lard in there. The char siew is that good that we always order an extra plate to go with the wantan mee. The lean part is soft while the fatty part melts away as you chew on it. The caramelised part of the char siew might look hard but it is surprisingly easy to bite into and it's the best part of this piece of meat. Personally, this is the best char siew I have tried in Penang. So, I will always choose their char siew over their roast pork. If you are looking for curry mee ala KL style, then, this is the place. Curry broth has heavier taste with more spices compare to Penang white curry mee. The roast pork which is lighter in taste will go well with the curry mee broth. This shop do not have any English signboard and it's located at a corner shop, diagonally opposite the famous Seng Thor Kopitiam. In Google, you will also find it under the name 荣记 Rong Ji.

OMG! One of the best sio back (roasted pork belly) and char siew I ever had! Their roasted duck also excellent! These can be eaten with rice or egg noodles. Yummy! Highly recommended!

Definitely one of my favorite restaurants in Penang - the owner wakes up at 5am every morning to roast his own meat 👍🏼 They are now open for dinner too!

The char siew here is delicious. Try it out if u are a fan. I personally prefer the wan tan mee + char siew in order to taste the original taste. The curry noodle + char siew is good as well. Food : 4/5 Drinks : 4/5 Service : 4/5 Price : 4/5 Ambience : 4/5

Many ppl not aware that Georgetown has the best char siu in Malaysia 😋 service is super good, lady boss also pretty and nice, place is clean 👍

Evening meal here offers a relaxed and cooler atmosphere. Great service and friendly staff. The BBQ Pork is well marinated with sweet sticky glaze and still has some crunch to it. Pork roast is crispy crackling skin and meat is tender. Their homemade noodle is made of duck egg definitely deserves a thumbs up. Overall a good dining experience.

5star for their fatty succulent charsiew but not the wanton noodles was just ok. The siobak (roasted pork) was not yet ready....will give it s try next time round. Had reviewed similarly before on another duplicated location in Google Map before but guess this should be the official one.

Not the regular kind of Wantan Mee you will find in Penang. It's more like a Hong Kong-style Wantan Mee. But the best part is the Char Siu (fork-roasted) and Roasted Pork Belly. It's full of flavor, and it melts in your mouth. It's so good, I can have it every day! They do serve chicken rice as well as curry noodles.I will come back and try it again next time, for sure!

The owner was super hospitable. We were there around 1pm, and there’s only 1 char siu left. We immediately took the order as per his recommendation and had a nice meal with this phenomenal Char Siu. Really tasty, although a bit fatty. But I’ll come back for the Char Siu if I can. Really nicely done!

all food was delicious, but my favourite is bbq pork, so tender and delicious, refreshing chrysanthimum tea, owner very friendly, clean and spacious place

I have ordered roasted meat + char Siew noodles n one roasted duck drumstick. The roasted meat skin was very crispy. The char Siew was tender as it was 60% meat n 40% fats. Only the last 2 pieces of char Siew were very fatty which left untouched. The noodles was delicious. Ahem….pork lard….😊 I do not recommend the roasted duck. I do not even want to describe the taste. 😩

Food taste was good. Service was a little bit slow during lunch hour as lack of workers. Personal recommend the char siew match with rice or mee. Other food taste still ok.

Best wanton noodle I have ever eaten. Better than those from HK. The char siew is so well done and each wanton comes with a shrimp inside. The noodle is so nice with the sauce mixture.

Penang's best kept secret. They probably have the best char siew in Penang. Their roast pork is delightfully crispy. This place deserves more coverage.

Recommended by a penang friend. First bite of the char siew and roast pork gave me the absolute wow taste! I am definitely visiting this place again when I come back to Penang. The pork crackling on the roast pork is superb. The char and caramelisation on the char siew is fantastic. The noodles are amazing as well. Dont think I will eat any other roast pork or char siew in Penang.

Very very well made caramelized char siew and roast pork, roast duck was good too. We ordered rice and noodles, and we devoured the food within minutes. Wantons were a tad dense but full of meat. Clean and bright coffee house. Seems newly renovated. Great service at a coffee house.

Really the best place in Penang for roasted meat. The melt-in-the-mouth char siew is my personal favourite of all I’ve tasted in Malaysia so far. Also like that the noodles come with bak eu phok (pork lard cubes) and sometimes a bowl of tasty cabbage soup. They now have exceptional wantan/sui kow on the menu as well!

Wow, I would eat here every day if I could. That char sui, so deliciously carmeralised and moreish. My go-to is usually roast pork, which was also delicious and crispy, but I wish I could eat that charsui everyday. I see some people have mentioned the noodles not being as good, but personally I enjoyed its pure and simple flavour and silkiness. Service was awesome, friendly and inviting, when they saw us walk in they were very helpful to share their specialty and take our orders at the table. We did find it a bit confusing which shop it was given some of the photos showing it was a smaller shop, but it ended up being the one on the corner that spans around 2 shop fronts and is where googlemaps is indicating. Will try get back here tomorrow morning to get some charsui to go!!!

Super yummy wanton Mee - i love the sauce (not the typical dark/red sauce). Great even without chilli. Charsiew tastes great - good amount of meat vs fats, with caramelized texture on the outside. Wanton is great with generous filling and a whole shrimp inside. Will be back to try the roast pork!!! Looks very unassuming cos the crowd seems to be heading to other places but this is a really good spot!

We were looking for pork near our hotel and this is the first that pops up! The first time we went it was closed although google says it’s open so I called to check cause probably our direction might be wrong. Store doesn’t have any name on outside. When I called they say it was closed. We came the next day for lunch and ordered the roasted pork with rice as well as wanton noodle. Both tasted good. Serving of roasted pork is not a lot though. We could’ve ordered the ala carte maybe? The roasted pork was cooked well. The auntie doesn’t speak english but she tried so hard to be able to communicate with us. Also we dont have any cash with us. They dont accept card payment - only touch and go which unfortunately we dont have. They’re so kind to let us do the bank transfer otherwise we will be washing dishes haha. I would really love to comeback and try more..

One of the best char siew and siew yook to be found in Penang. Pair with QQ duck egg wantan noodles, it is indeed a delicious meal. Will definitely come back again.

This shop offered one of the best roasted pork and char siew pork. Their Wanton noodle also specially make n different from normal Wanton noodle shop. Curry noodle also best. Must order their Wanton dumping n good coffee. Very clean place with friendly boss n staffs.

Name can be misleading as there is no Wan Tan in the Wan Tan Mee stall. But their noodles, char siew and roast pork is really really good. The quantity may not be sufficient so ADD! We ordered extra roast pork so quite happy with it. Melts in your mouth. Beautifully made noodles too. Deserve the 5 stars!

Plain & unassuming Kopitiam (coffee shop) on Lebuh Carnavon, with Chinese Signboard, no English sign, diagonally opposite the more famous Kedai Kopi Seng Thor. Roughly sounded out is Rong Kee Wantan Mee. Surprising find of one of the best KL-style char siew (barbecued pork) in Penang, all gooey and dark, and very tender. So good that we ordered a second helping! Also ordered the sio bak (roast pork crackling), but it was disappointing because the skin wasn’t crispy and worse, rather hard to bite through, but the underlying meat was pretty juicy and tender. White chicken is ordinary but adequate. We ordered both rice and kon loh meen (dry tossed noodles on their own) and it was a satisfying meal. Great place to stop for lunch before going to the Ghost Museum nearby (3 mins walk)

Easily the best char siew in Penang. Thankfully still under the radar so not a long wait. The curry mee is the sleeper hit.

One of my favorite roasted bbq pork shop in Penang. The taste is comparable to KL standard. Tried the curry mee this time. The curry is ok, but i prefer normal yellow noodles instead of the wan tan mee noodles. Still, it is only my personal preference though.

Still maintaining the Char siew's awesomeness after all these while. Underrated in popularity probably due to low marketing effort. Hopefully they can hang on for as long as they can. It's a gem here!

👍👍 Good weekend to be visiting Penang. It’s the weekend just after “kwai chit” aka Hungry Ghost Festival (15th day of the 7th month on the Chinese Lunar calendar).
