👍 Six of us order quite abit. The kolo mian was just nice. Not too salty. Kaya butter bread , the kaya itself being too thick and not the usual kaya we normally eat elsewhere. Kaya isn't sweet, slightly bitter, seems like the tradisional kaya. The hard boil eggs are huge, which they let you crack you... Six of us order quite abit. The kolo mian was just nice. Not too salty. Kaya butter bread , the kaya itself being too thick and not the usual kaya we normally eat elsewhere. Kaya isn't sweet, slightly bitter, seems like the tradisional kaya. The hard boil eggs are huge, which they let you crack yourself. I think the highlight was the TeoChew cuisine. Plenty of choices. We ordered porridge and the portion was quite large. Side dishes for the porridge was decent.

The worst meal I had for my whole Penang trip. I love Teochew cuisine since young as my grandma is Teochew, but the food here is utterly disgusting & the service here is terrible. 1. All the utensils is super oily, can you imagine when you open up the container storing all the utensils it’s all oily. The staff even served me plates with soap bubbles & milktea colour stains on it. I requested for a change, and the waiter told me straight away it’s all the same before even look at it. After I showed him the stains, he then took it back and change for me without any apology. 2. Almost every single bowl & plates were chipped off. I never been to any restaurants serving all the broken plates and bowls before. 3. Everything taste awful except the Teochew porridge set which is still acceptable. Their signature kuan qiang & Yam cake is obviously kept for a period and it taste awful. Don’t know how many times they refry it. 4. I am not sure if this restaurant is understaff, all of them gather at the back and avoiding eye contact when we raised up hand for service. 5. Price is on a higher side, and their food is all below average. Very disappointed

Read reviews that this is a Teochew restaurant, not really sure what is Teowchew food but the food served here is really nice. Difficult to look for place to park though. Ordered char siew rice and it was delicious, half boiled egg with kampung eggs was nice which cost RM4, fried chai kuih and normal chai kuih (fried ones are nicer). Also ordered yam cake but the yam inside was quite limited (not sure if this is Teochew style?). Might return again to try out different menu.

My favourite place for teochew food. Love their Cai Kuih, both fried and steamed are great. The braised dishes are good too. Yam cake and kwang qiang are so-so. Overall is very satisfied and will always come back for their food!👍🏻

Their environment, coffee and food is nice. For the minced meat rice, I will suggest them to put lesser spice, cause it is a bit too heavy for me. Their traditional cake is also nice~

It may not be awarded any Michelin star just yet but this little Teochiew Restaurant is certainly very popular with its yummy food. Depending on the food you order, you can give your taste buds and memories a party on the authentic blends of spices of homecook Teochiew food.

Authentic teow chew cuisine. Some food tastes need improvement especially the chai kuih and guang jiang. Must try their Teow chew fried noodles. The environment is clean but hot. Price is acceptable and wide selection of foods. Parking is a problem here.

Appetising porridge meal. We wanted something light for our meal, get the set meal(meat platter) to try out everything. Radish egg also not bad. Interesting interior decoration.

Love the old school type of dishes and the environment. Had to wait for a seat when we were there. Ordered quite a lot for the 4 of us but didn't manage to capture all the pics.

This place is packed on weekends. Parking is a nightmare. Better park nearby and walk or call Grab. I've tried to visit a few times but just couldn't find anywhere to park so I went by bike 😁. Food wise is not bad but price wise is a bit on the high side but I'm curious so I paid the price 😂 If you have not visited, try it once. There's quite a few dishes to choose but I recommend the porridge set. The kuih is quite tasty. The chicken leg noodle is just so so. Coffee hot is priced at RM6.50 and iced coffee at RM6.80. Better get the iced one as it's a lot bigger and worth the money. But at RM6.80 is it really worth it? 😏 The total for two people is RM50.30

Cozy place, good (Teochew) food and friendly staff: in a nutshell what the place is all about. The restaurant was nicely decorated for the coming Chinese New Year. We had the Teochew porridge which was delicious. The salted vegetables not too salty and with nice taste. We also tried the char siew braised pork rice. Yummy. And a dessert not often found: black glutinous rice. Was not bad but a bit awkward: the picture shows the coconut milk on top, but when they deliver it is already mixed (so they say). It does away with you spooning some rice and milk before mixing everything. We also assume that they added salt to the dish (for us not necessary, to the contrary) and some starch to make it extra sticky (also unnecessary for us). The herbal tea was tasty. So overall a good meal for affordable pricing.

Nice ambience. Clean and peaceful. Food is aesthetic, and also tastes good. They have an assortment of dim sum-like dishes, noodles and rice. The Mangkuang Kuih and Kuchai Kuih were good with tender outside and generous portion inside. However the Or Kuih and Kwang Qiang had too much dough and not enough filling as advertised in the menu. But the price is cheap especially for a place like this. I would come back to try their other dishes.

'Teow chew' style dishes are served here. They serve rice, noodles and Chinese style porridge with meat dishes, like braised duck, braised pork and roast pork. Prices are reasonable. The food is good. This place opened quite recently too.

Great food ! Must try the braised meat rice. Do try the kaya bread as the kaya is made using traditional method. Will come back for more ! As their price are affordable .

Loved the atmosphere. Feels like back to retro 1960s Chinese restaurant. Food tasted good. The Cai Kuih was also decent. Overall if you love toechew food, you will love this place. If you have not tried toechew food, can give a try.

Nicely renovated shop house that still maintains a nostalgic atmosphere. The iced drinks were served in steel mugs which was awesome with the hot weather. Food was excellent and authentic. Congee came with many condiments, one of them was deep-fried salted pork which I would recommend dumping into the congee as soon as it arrives to soften them up. Both steamed and pan-fried kueys were great, but if you can only eat one then go for the pan-fried version. Don't forget to try ome house-made chili oil!

Served traditional teow chew food.. The portions of the food are big.. The teow chew porridge is very nice with assorted side dish. 卤肉饭 tasted moderately and very big bowl.. cai kuih tasted very peppery.. Pricing is average, parking is limited too...

Good chilling environment. Teo Chew Moi: in terms of the side dishes, are good for two person sharing, (you could just order another bowl of porridge) because they are salty and you unable to eat them individually without pair with porridge. Fried Kuih: very nice ! Braised Duck (small) : portion too small, not worth the price Kelabu Shrimp: surprisingly nice !

No aircond, very hot especially recent weather. Sweating while eating. Curry is nice. Jumbo rice very big portion for me. 3 persons order 2 mains and 2 sides still couldn't finish. Kuang qiang very full.

Loved the milk and and signature coffee. Teochew fried noodles and curry rice are good. Would try the steam kuih instead of fried one next time.

There's a reason this place is in the Michelin Guide! Best duck I've had in a very long time. The fat is rendered down beautifully. I also don't often drink iced tea but I had one today - came in a huge metal cup and was so delicious I've been thinking about it all day. Can't put my finger on why it's so good. The staff are also so friendly. A great first day in Penang. Super unpretentious and classical vibes has a really old-school feel. 5* which I don't give out easily!

If you passed by here and wanted a quick lunch then this is a place to go. Otherwise it's not worth the hype to come all the way to try this. The food is okay just not great. We also had the black glutinous rice soup, it's too sweet and overpowered the whole dessert. They lack manpower so you have to order at the counter. However, serving time is still fast. And they also don't accept cash, just bank transfer or e-wallet.

Restored prewar house serving authentic Teochew traditional delicacies. Food tastes authentic and good. Portion is about right for the price. Recommended for foodies looking for some nice Teochew food. Parking I definitely a challenge.

This shop sells a lot of teochew foods. I have tried the mixed chai kueh which consist of 3 kuehs and it tastes really good. Also ordered the curry chicken noodle and porridge set which comes with 7 small dishes. Both also nice but I prefer curry chicken noodle more. Really recommend to come here as there are a lot of delicious teochew food and the price is really cheap.

The coffee was good but this was the only highlight for us. We ordered kaya butter but was given butter sugar. Not sure if we ordered wrongly or what. The bread was good but margarine was used instead of butter. The chives kueh does not taste great to me too. Won’t return.

The dish really not bad, for those that like simple teochew style breakfast this is a nice choice, downside was the price slightly on the upside on the price

Recommended by my bestie to try their popular Braised Rice with Pork and Soy Sauce and also the Kaw Kaw Kopi. Additionally we add on the steamed yam kuih. All of these are really not disappointing me, delicious and tasty. Environment is good, there is a place was decorated for customer to photoshoot. Service is good as well.

Overall food is good and quite crowded during lunch hour that we visited.worth a try if you're craving for home-style teow chew snacks and food.

Interesting design restaurant but the food & drinks tastes normal. Staffs are not well trained, poor customer management while taking order, could be just part timer (student). And, the staff washing the chili sauce squeeze bottle after refilled by cover the head with her fingers under running waters. This is truly unacceptable.

Authentic Traditional Teow Chew food. Great vibe with traditional Chinese deco. A must try to taste the real Teow Chew culture.

A place to savour teochew traditional delicacies. I find their 光鏘 and 桃糕 flavour is a bit plain.

👍 Queue seemed quite long when we arrived around 2.30 pm but we only waited about 20 minutes. I think they should have more signage to tell customers what to do so the process can be easier. There was only one waiter upstairs in the seating area so it was quite difficult to get his attention. Food is...
