Don't expect them to be nice to you, sometimes they even have attitude problems ๐Ÿ’ฏ For me, I always add extra ๐ŸŒถ to my lard-laden, smooth โ€œkoay teowโ€ noodles, crunchy beansprouts, egg, chives, Chinese waxed sausage and ultra-fresh large prawns. #yummy A little controversial as some people say overrated $$$$$.. but my college used to be around the corner, and I love prawns.... ๐Ÿค ๐Ÿฆ

Aunties/servers were rude. The CKT was insanely salty, taste wise it was not bad but not good enough for any return visits. Giving 2 stars purely because of the wok hey and large prawns.

Loved this restaurant!! This char kway teow is well known, with the chef aunty always wearing a red hat. It was so good and quite spicy!! Surrounding this place was other little stalls on the street that come inside to offer their food as well. We tried otak otak for the first time and wow it was so so good. A must try if you love tomyum flavour and fish! For more food reviews, check out my instagram @asydneysider ๐Ÿค— A video/post will be coming soon on it!

The old shop โ€œLow Eng Hooโ€ with the goggle Uncle ๐Ÿ‘จ๐Ÿปโ€๐Ÿณis better than the next door new shop with the goggle Aunties. Flavor wise they win over the aunties, more fragrant & flavorful. Cheaper too @ RM11. Plus no need being scolded by the aunties. Their Oyster Omelet is also quite good. ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ˜Ž

Got a surprised because the Char Kueh Teow there cost RM12.00/packet. The auntie says they offer 3 big prawns. They have RM11, RM12 and RM14 prices.

I've heard of this Char Koay Teow for years but have never tried it until yesterday. Our verdict is that the CKT tasted so so, lack of wok hei and too oily. The only excitement is that there were 4 big juicy prawns. Each plate costs RM 15 (large), and RM 12 for normal sized CKT. So I'm not sure what the hype is about. The ambra juice was good though.

Nice char koay tew (fried kwetiau noodle). My friend must visit stall. Its trade mark is red hat auntie fried the noodle. The auntie always go to holiday or going praying far away, so the stall sometimes not open even it write open in maps Portion average with tourist price ( bit pricy). The shrimp is large compare to other stall. Beside koay teow, there are fried oyster serve from other stall too.

Craving for char Kuey teow and This one open at 10am. Itโ€™s good with 2 big prawn. Thatโ€™s why the price slightly expensive compare to others. Need a 15-20 mins of waiting. Not too bad. Their oyster fried egg is super good! Big oyster as well. Finally got one is good one. Their opposite road prawn me is so so. Ice kacang is good too! Self made ice cream!

For RM12 per plate, I think itโ€™s slightly overpriced. Taste wise is pretty standard (didnโ€™t really have the wow factor). Will explore other places instead for next time.

Not a bad place for char kuey teow. No need to wait so long for the food. The char kuey teow still have a nice wok hei flavor to it and has nice flavor. Standard Penang Price.

To be honest, it's ok only. The place is easy to find and not too crowded when I was there around 10+ in the morning. The char kway tiau is served with 2 giant prawns each. The prawns were super fresh and succulent. Flavor and taste wise were just ok. But pricing is on the high side for Char Kway Tiau, RM12 per plate is like 50% more than what you can find at coffee shops in Penang.

Seriously..the koey teow is so so..mayb bcoz ours were fried by another auntie (right hand side).. the left side wok seems to be the origin but still yet to start when i ordered ...no luck The ice kacang is not worth, not much of ingredient, taste lagi so so ..rojak still ok..but overall pricey...rojak rm14 and char koey teow rm12 ...but thats not a problem, problem is not nice...๐Ÿ˜ช

The CKT is very yummy with fresh big prawns. You know it's good when there's an old aunty cooking. It's RM11 with no eggs, RM12 with eggs, and RM14 is large. There are 2 more CKT stalls just next door too.

    - Pretty Good but came here for The nostalgia - Price is pretty steep at RM 12 a plate - Drink is Ok too around RM 3 per drink - You have to fight for The seat as there is no queue number So that gets annoying - Come early. Always packed

Still one of the best Char Koay Teow around in Penang in my opinion. The wok hey is really good and this spot is a definite must try if you are visiting Penang. Itโ€™s always on my must visit list when Iโ€™m in town. Also worth getting the Orh Jian there which is above average in my opinion.

We came here for a quick tea break. Just needed to have some Char kuay teow badly. Lots of people recommended this place. Two ladies, one wearing a red headgear doing their job perfectly. It rained heavily but that did not stop the ladies dishing out all the fried noodles. Everyone waited for their Char kuay teow patiently. The noodles was ok, not fantastic. There are way better ones in Penang which we have tried. The place was nice, good environment but parking was a bit difficult. Price wise, they are charging a little bit higher owing to the fame they are enjoying I suppose. For those around the vicinity, can surely give it a shot.

CKT was ok, price is 12 RM per portion. You get two shrimps for every portion. Service was quite quick. We went there for lunch on a Saturday and it was quite packed but we managed to get a seat. Place is also easy to find and spot because of the red hat lady.

As a Penangite, definitely I've tasted much better char koay teow compared to this one. But the taste of this is consider pass, the ๐Ÿฆ is huge so it's ok for the RM12 that you're paying for. I'm here for the sotong kangkung, huge amount of cuttlefish & the sauce is flavourful with loafs of grounded ๐Ÿฅœ . Not forgetting my ais kacang to end my meal. It's quite hot to dine in here, but it's usual for most of the coffee shops.

Tried it for breakfast (they open from 10am) and itโ€™s nothing to be amazed with. It had an overburnt smell (not wok-hei) and without cockles (si-ham). Only with chinese sausage (lap-cheong), 2 pcs of big prawns ๐Ÿค and pork lard. The restaurant also serve lousy Iced Teh-C. Overpriced & overhyped for the street name โ€œLorong Selamat Char Kuey Teowโ€

The famous red hat aunty chef cooking the famous char kuey teow. Starting from RM12 for small portion, it is not cheap but taste is pretty good, considered one of the better ones around. Big prawn is fresh too and not overly done, wok hei is there. Other food options also available.

  • 4/5 Jing Tao T. 11 months ago on Google
RM12 gets you the standard order which is quite a small plate with 2 big prawns. Ask for a large size. Taste was great for me! Came on a Wednesday for lunch, about 10 minute wait

It's fried koay teow Penang style. Love the flavour and well-cooked noodles. Enough 'wok hei' as in fried noodles terminology. The lady chef wearing a red hood is a trademark for the delicious food. The hawker stall is housed inside Heng Huat Cafe. But then don't eat fried koay teow too often. Not healthy, right?
