One of the highlights of my trip to Penang. Looks like I didn't have to constantly eat, eat & eat. Personally, I liked the cat-themed art by the Japanese artists (I just like the aesthetic) but I am sure if you are into art & cats, you will be able to find one you love too. The owner has 4 cute cats but not all are super sociable. Yoko will gladly entertain you if you feed her creamy treats at RM3. Spent a total of 3 hours and I am sure to recommend my fellow cat-lovers to come, but remember that the art itself is the main point!

A great place to visit for Cat lovers, we played and fed 3 adorable cats belonging to Justin, the owner and there a small tea corner to sip tea while admiring the art pieces. Just a year old, this place has a serene ambience of soft classical music. Go and admire Justin's 10 years of research and gathering of art pieces. Do visit if you are ever in Penang.

If you like Arts and Cats, this is definitely a place to visit. Entry fee RM17, which is worth it for a place to chill, admire the art pieces and read some books about cats. The owner has meticulously segregated the different collections, be it based on countries, vintage/antique collection etc I donโ€™t think there is a time limit as we spent about an hour here. There are some souvenirs to purchase, as well as a self service counter for coffee and tea. Spoke to the owner about his cats as they were all hiding, he mentioned that a lot of visitors were rough with his cats hence they are more reserved now. So please, potential visitors, please give the cats some privacy and the owner some respect. No doubt this is a business but some basic courtesy would always be appreciated. I enjoyed thoroughly some peace and tranquility here, a good place to hide from the sun and rain, listen to cool music and look at the pace of the catsโ€™ lives here.

Amazing collections of art about cats. Very placid place to relax and just enjoy me-time accompanied by tea and books about cats. Casual yet highly maintained private art collections turned into a museum. The resident cats are very relaxed, and for now according to the owner, just want to enjoy their retirement days in peace.

What an amazing cat museum. If you are a cat lover, or even if you're not, I certainly recommend a visit. So many beautiful artistic cat pieces. You can see the love and dedication that has been put into the collection. Very interesting to see some of the history of cats as well. The owner has a few beautiful cats walking around but it is not a petting place. Only if the cats are awake and open to being stroked kindly.

โœ…I appreciate the design of the cat museum. There were a lot of cat images and intriguing cat facts all throughout the area โœ…The enviroment is really clean and well-kept. โœ… The owner is gracious enough to share his journey with us,including when and how he obtained all of his worldwide collection. โœ…I hope the museum adds more cats,or even a cat cafe where cat enthusiasts can come and express their love of cats. Overall, We thoroughly loved our time there. We wish the owner and his lovely property all the best.

Such a cool and cosy place with so much to see. Worth visiting if you're a cat lover or appreciate art. There's hundreds or probably thousands of artwork, figurines, anything cat related from all over the world. Gotta applaud the owner's dedication in collecting and curating this Meowseum. I wouldn't mind visiting again.

An amazing museum dedicated to everything cat! If you're a cat lover, you will simply love this place. Even if you are not, you will be converted into a cat lover! A man's passion for everything cat has motivated him to collect all kinds of cat related items from all over the world for your viewing pleasure. Be prepared to be immersed in hours of viewing pleasure! While you're at it, see if you can spot the 4 furry residents. They also have catnip tea, cute postcards and other cute souvenirs. Meow! ๐Ÿ˜ธ

A cat-themed art museum for cat lovers to explore. Not just to enjoy the art, visitors can also immerse into the catโ€™s world by reading variety of books loaded in the shelf. After a tiring exploration into the catโ€™s world, you can pamper yourself with some snacks & drinks at the minibar before continuing your journey to be amazed with more arts upstairs. Museum content: 9/10 Price: reasonable for cat lover Cleanliness: 9/10

This museum is such a special place as it's the owner's personal collection of cat art and literary works that he carefully curated over the years. Looking at the many art pieces and meeting the 4 residential cats, I truly feel the owner's passion for cats and cat art that he hopes others will come to appreciate as well. I found it touching to know that the collection of cat art had been an antidote to the owner's pain during difficult times. The collection is really so impressive. There's a cat and shoes collection (pictured), a Wild Cat themed room, and more. Was amazed at the cat themed books available like this Haiku about cats book (pictured). It was fun meeting the 4 residential cats too and learning that they love me when I give them food. I could spend half a day here. This museum is not to be missed when you are in Penang. At RM17, it's affordable too. It's okay if you're not the biggest fan of cats or art. Keep an open mind, and I'm sure you will be pleasantly surprised.

We enjoyed ourselves going through Mr Shin's curated art. He very kindly answered our questions and shared the stories behind them. The museum is nice and cosy, we saw many beautiful pieces and got some good inspirations on how we can decorate our homes! The rules are clearly indicated on the door, owner reiterates that this is not a cat cafe and no touching of cats before entering so I do not understand why there are people penalizing the museum in reviews for the rules that they are made known to before entering ๐Ÿ™„. As a cat owner myself, I can totally see why the choices were made to keep the cats safe. Highly recommended for art and TRUE cat lovers.

Spent a lazy afternoon admiring what seems to be an endless collection of cat-related art pieces and figurines. This can only be a project born of a person's love for all things feline, and I can feel the care and passion that went into it. There are a few resident cats, but even though it is tempting to caress them, I've seen enough reviews prior to my visit to know that it's better to let sleeping cats lie. If you love cats, and have some appreciation for arts, do pay this place a visit.

The entrance ticket is super worth it and affordable especially if you love cats and art! So many different art pieces and figurines of cats to look at and you can even chill and read the cat-related books and drink nice teas (extra charges, but very affordable). If youโ€™re lucky, you might meet the ownerโ€™s 4 cats and even the owner is a super nice and chill uncle you can chit chat with. Even the souvenirs in the museum are really pretty and affordable! Overall amazing and chill experience!! ๐Ÿ’›

Stopping by at this cute museum on a hot labour day to cool down the mood after a super long wait for a breakfast at China House. It's very healing indeed hahaha! They sell some cat tarot cards too. Surprise surprise.

Incredible place for cat lovers with art pieces purchased from all over the world. When you step in, thereโ€™s the same sense you get when you visit a cultural place in Penang, but with cats! Thereโ€™s also a little corner where you can make your own tea. There are also resident cats around, but do approach them with respect as they have their own personalities ;) The place is incredibly cosy and Justin (the owner) was friendly with the visitors, explaining his collection and love for cats with us. You can also purchase some small souvenirs that he has in store.

Highlight of my trip So glad that we took a chance to come in and visit this place. I truly enjoyed my visit here. Iโ€™m not by any means an art expert but this place has so much unique pieces of arts that weโ€™ve spent more than an hour here. Trust me, itโ€™s still not enough for me as thereโ€™s way more to see. We had a pleasant chat with the owner and he was nice enough to let us know the history of this place. The owner also let us know that we can browse through his wide collection of cat titled books and chill there. Iโ€™ll definitely make another trip and will spend another half a day here. Please do note that this is not a cat cafe, itโ€™s a cat museum for lovers of cats and arts.

For cat lovers. Everything about cat here. Thousands of collection, photos, drawing etc. OK to come visit if you extremely love cats. BTW the PIC don't speak Chinese, and he only say few sentences about the rules and regulations of the place, if you talk extra he might won't reply you. Just quietly pay for the entrance fee and help yourself to walk around the place. And not to touch the real cat if you see them around.

Only posting 4 pics so you can check out the rest yourself. Cat lovers will LOVE this museum! At RM18/pax, you get to enjoy all things cat from all over the world, such as paintings, sculptures, collections etc. It's an air-conditioned place. You'll have to take off your shoes prior to entering

I ain't gonna put the photos of all those art collections of cats here so here's only some pictures of real cats and the entrance. This place is just like the name, collect and display all kinds of arts related to cats and match the name of meowseum. There are all types of arts that portray cats such as surrealism, pop art, painting, visual art, modern art etc on the wall when you are walking in. You can also see some masks related to cat characters in the display cabinet. It's really so cool to see so many collections of cats! And there are also sofas beside to let you sit down and read books about cats. But unfortunately, the languages of books are not all in English, I can't read most of them. If you go upstairs, you can see more paintings of cats with some humans. They also put together the big cats here as a collection of meow too๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜One room display all art of big cats are really cute. I really enjoyed visiting this place where I can slowly view every art piece on the wall and find some fun in it. Ohya, here costs RM 18 to enter if you are holding IC. This price is definitely worth it as the owner can feed better snacks to his cat๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿฅฐ There's also real cats but is not allowed to pet them. ((But sorry I still pet them, they are really too cute

There are books and totes and masks, and even reproduction of cats on street art around the world. I enjoyed very much the visit

Nice, interesting and clean museum. So many art n collection for a cat lover. The collection amazing n adorable. There are also some sourvenir for tourists to buy. The entrance fee is RM20 for adult (Malaysian rate). No shoes allowed in the premis. Unfortunately, at first we are quite offended with the owner because he doesn't want to open the door or doesn't give us to enter the premis. He told us this is art museum and no cat here.. quite rude to treat us even though we are just the local tourist. ๐Ÿ˜ฉ The owner not so friendly, he doesn't talk much when we ask. Btw you cant disturbed the owner cat even meowing to them ๐Ÿฅฒ just look from far ๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿ‘ˆ Conclusion, it is cute museum for cat lover. Very interesting โ˜บ๏ธ

A wonderful place for art lovers with a special affection for cats! The gallery showcases diverse items from all over the world, mostly paintings and statuettes, and is a true tribute to our beloved felines. You'll have fun wondering around the rooms! Also, the owner is a very friendly person and chatting with him complemented my experience. Thank you!

For all you receive here, RM 25 is well worth it. The Meowseum is not a gallery that sells cat stuff or uses cats as toys, even though there is some wonderful merchandise to buy as memorabilia. This museum acts as a lure, enticing visitors to learn more about the stories behind its collections. The topic is simply cat, but you may witness transformations and interactions from numerous countries and generations. So it doesn't matter if your collection is original or a replica; you'll learn something new. On the second floor, there are two rooms with benches; if I have more time, it's pleasant to sit and admire the artwork. The proprietor manages everything himself, therefore he is always busy with new customers. He also directed his attention to the point person, mentioning house restrictions in Google Business as well as his access gate. They remind us why the museum was created for those who love and appreciate art. When I was about to leave the museum, a couple approached me; I recognized them since they were on the same airline as me from Indonesia, and they were also chatting in Bahasa Indonesia. After they remove the shoes, the owner will proceed to make payment, but the man is suddenly refused, while the lady attempts to photograph one of the owner's cats who sits close to the owner and some collection nearby. It was not permitted by the owner. I understand the owner's actions since, as I previously stated, the cat is the topic of this museum, but not the living cat as an item. And she still wants to take something from the collection while refusing to pay... hmm it's not fair, people. To be honest, even with the cat, the museum is neither smelly or dirty. The proprietor was working quite hard.

I had an incredible experience at the Meowseum in Penang! It's a true gem that cat lovers and art enthusiasts will both enjoy. The diverse collection of cat art from around the world was fascinating, and the interactive pieces added a memorable touch. Unexpectedly, this museum became one of the highlights of my Penang trip. I'll definitely bring my friends here again if I return to Penang. The place is filled with rare and eye-catching pieces that make it absolutely amazing! I would suggest blocking your schedule for atleast 3 hours to fully appreciate everything from the painted art, interactive art, books and souvenirs ๐Ÿ˜บ๐ŸŽจ๐Ÿž๏ธ

Interesting, exciting, intricate gallery of the owners personal art collection. Here you can see statues, prints, original works, and real cats! (Please respect their privacy though.) Very inviting and calm atmosphere, you can even brew your own cup of tea to enjoy whilst you appreciate the artwork. 100000000% recommended to come. You can even get adorable cat themed souvenirs at the end. Owner is obviously passionate about his love for cats. Please support this independent art gallery. Such a good visit.

A love for felines turned into a precious museum. I found this place via Instagram and was so excited when I got to visit here during my trip to Penang. Artworks fill up the walls, accompanied by glass cabinets filled with collections of figurines. The owner owns four cats who are always roaming around the museum. I successfully met all four! It's recommended you feed them with the cat treats they sell at the counter. This place is so cute, will totally visit again the next time I come to Penang.

Very interesting! You can spend hours here. I think one visit is not enough to see everything. Important: This is not a type "for kids" and children under 12 are not allowed. If you are looking for intriguing and quiet place - this is for you. You can also sit and drink tea here (self-service), read books about cats or just enjoy the peaceful place.

Really unique experience. Huge collection of cat art and craft from around the world. Superior to the Cat Museum in Kuching and more tastefully done too. Friendly and knowledgeable owner. Best museum by far in Penang. If you want something that is less of a tourist trap like the godawful ghost museum and upside down house, then Meowseum would be a breath of fresh air. The resident cats are adorable too. The owner says that Meowseum is a labour of love for him. And it certainly shows in the details and care put into the exhibits. Highly recommended.
