👍 Nasi padang minang but for me more to like nasi campur. Nevertheless, the taste was delicious especially their special menu, deep fried stuffed ikan cencaru with onions. The price super cheap and you have to find a place first before eat. People often mention dishes, nasi, ikan, padang, fried, good, queue, cencaru, price, fish,

Came here for lunch, once at 1pm another time at 12noon. Super crowded. The queue is usually extending until the road side and under the sun. There are many varieties available. The color of the dishes are very attractive. All covered in oily deep red chilly giving it a vibrant glistening appearance. I tried the ubi bergedil, potato cooked in chilly, ayam masak kicap, and some vegetables. The vegetables is very salty. Otherwise the rest of the dishes are good. To me, they aren't as spicy as they look. The sambal is nice as well. This is pretty much self service. The process of taking rice and dishes are rather fast. But the payment part is not. There is only one person in charge of counting the price as well as handle the money. So if you somehow give cash, they are gonna take a very long time to look for change. Ewallet option is available. So it's more advisable to use that. Parking is very limited around this area. People who frequent the place usually work around that area which is within a walking distance.

For all the spicy and malays foods lovers, this is the place to go in penang. They have over 30 dishes to choose from. Ulam ulam, curry, gulai, masak lemak, masak kicap, you named it, they have it. The 'ONE' dish you must try is their deep fried cencaru with onion. Highly recommended anf not to be missed.

Food is amazing, one of the best on the island, price is cheap, restaurant also has a remarkable & unpretentiously cool vibe (maybe it lies in the mix of old-school price boards, posters & fonts, the old kopitiam-like tables/chairs, the fade sizzling of cencaru being deep-fried, the bustling chatter from locals) - it is definitely the IT spot. Top recommendation would be their Ikan Cencaru Goreng Bawang, available 11.45am onwards (youll need to order it as it’s the only item cooked upon order) & Iced Cham. Parking can be a hassle but ive been here a couple of times, just pray, you’ll get a parking.

Located in the bustling heart of Georgetown (locals will correct me if I'm wrong), Nasi Padang Minang is the result of a symbiotic harmony between what was originally a typical kopitiam, and a regular family food stall. Expect a queue, and bring friends so that they can secure a table while you get the food. Everything here is fairly affordable by modern standards, and expect to feel like you were invited to the home of a close friend from the warmth of the food and friendly vibes ✨️ Filling, thrilling, and an adventure for the senses. Come here to feel the beating heart of the local culture and community. Nasi Padang Minang is recommended.

Service : Very good. You just queue and they will find a seat for you. There is another separate line for take away. Price : Very cheap. I took about 8 different dishes (Vege + meat + fish) and it only sums up to RM34. Portion : Very Generous and cheap. Taste : Tasty. Will definitely come again. Parking : Very limited. The only bad thing about this place. Overall/Remarks : A definitely good spot for mixed rice. The dishes are not spicy at all although it looks like it is spicy. TOTALLY RECOMMENDED!!

Always a happy day whenever I get a chance to eat here. My top 2 favourite dishes here - ikan cencaru belah belakang aka ikan sumbat and pajeri nenas. The accompanying fried onions of course are just gold!

Must eat here when in penang!! Veryy sedappp. The tofu/tauhu sambal was very very very tastyyy & fresh!! Shoulda taken two but it was so big. The ikan jacket with lots of fried onions is a must order as per the other reviews. There are also multiple types of sambal/dip - belacan, kicap bawang, cant remember. Lots of ulams for those who like them. For those who dont like ulam, dont worry - there’s a lot more vege dishes to choose from. The cold drinks are also good especially on a hot day. Parking: theres a covered parking just opposite the shop. Limited space though. Ambiance: like kopitiam but can be quite crowded. Might not be suitable for family with small kids (but if can tahan and can control the kids as it can be a bit hot, please by all means go!) try to go early to beat the lunch crowd/queue Verdict: Highly recommended for the food! Bonus info: a bit further up the road (very near walking distance) there’s a bakery that should go visit - cant remember the name tho

Absolutely incredible food. What a taste sensation! Loved the tempeh and aubergine. The curry sauces, especially the dark soy, were rich and delicious! Very happy.

One of the best nasi padang joint in Penang. Has been there for ages. Shop probably owned by Chinese who makes the drinks for the patrons which come for the nasi padang. Lots of varieties for the dishes but the star of the dish has to be the ‘ikan belah belakang’ or ‘ikan jacket’ as some would have called it. Simplest thing as the rice being served to be hotly prepared could do wonders for your meals. Seats are a bit tricky if you come during peak hours but possible to get. Queues are there for a reason but as usual noticed some ‘regulars’ skipping the queue and get their usual plates being served quickly by the waiters. But that’s pretty normal at almost all Penang food joints. All in all, great place to come if you want to avoid the usual nasi kandar craze when in Georgetown.

If you come at 12PM you’re too early as this special dish is not ready yet but if you come at 1PM you’re too late and there’s no seat. Lol. Honestly worth the wait & the queue Protip RESIST getting the many delicious-looking lauk. Just take the rice & veggies and order for the ikan goreng. Enough. We had one fish each

Ok this my very honest review. So sorry it's not Nasi Padang Minang but rather nasi campur biasa. Me and my family just went there because of other people review online n also through YouTube. My mother is Minangkabau descent from bukit tinggi, sumatra barat , Indonesia and of course she is very good at this nasi Padang food. We have tasted many nasi padang in Malaysia. This one is the worst ever. We took quite variety of their dishes but extremely disappointed by the scam! All the hype is totally fake. It's not good at all. TAK SEDAP LANGSUNG. I wonder what's with long queue. 😂. Maybe all those people never tasted real nasi padang. Their so called 'nasi padang' is not comparable with minang food in any way. The chef is Javanese maybe hahaha. Nasi Padang in Kg Baru KL is more authentic. Rendang not authentic minang too salty. dendeng daging, no sambalado, no gulai tunjang, no ayam goreng padang, gulai nangka entah apa2. The gulai variety no taste of minang rempah. basically it's not even nasi padang. I feel so pity (kesian) with people queing outside only to get fake nasi padang. How dare claim it's nasi padang. Just name is as Nasi Campur then that's acceptable.😅 It's totally okey if you miss this one. Not worth it at all.

A very good place to eat. Lucked out because it is across from my hotel. Went back almost every day. Wife loved it too. Super delicious food which I thought was Malay but I guess from reading the comments it is Indonesian. Spicy and not too salty with a variety of meat, fish and veggies. Friendly owners and employees.

Food was definitely SUPERB. SEDAP & everything was super affordable. We took full plates and it costed RM 38 for 3 people. Definitely will come back again. 5 stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Every dish served is great, the best is surely the fish stuffed with sambal and topped with crispy onion. Perfection. Very affordable as well, Rm7 for a whole fish. The coffee served here is really good too as they use a special coffee grind. Don’t come too late as they usually sold out before their closing time

You have to find a table before getting your food. We didn’t know that and did it the other way around and had to stand for a while, luckily some nice people offered us a spot at their table. Food was super good and a lot of variety. Price is really not bad at all. Had 3 dishes including the deep fried fish made to order. And two drinks for about 44 RM.

Delicious nasi padang with an array of lauk to choose from. The price here is not as expensive as other nasi padang eateries that I've been to. Long queue is expected as the place is famous among locals and tourists alike. Dining section is no-frills setting, a bit crammed and could be quite warm during lunch hour. Not a cosy atmosphere but people will usually withstand the inconveniences if the food is worth it.

I’ve been to this restaurant since I was 6 years old, in 2021 i’m 27 and now i’m bringing my one year old toddler here. To tell you the truth, this restaurant really keep their food quality and makes every dishes taste exactly the same since I was little.. really appreciate their originality & hospitality. Hope they can continue to serve the same dishes till the next generation.. just a reminder, make sure to come early because after 12:30pm or else you only can enjoy less. 🤪 P/S: daging dendeng after 11pm GONE!!! 😭😭😭

Im sorry but its definitely not Padang food😭 its more like Malay food, but the food is quiet good. The place is often crowded and barely enough space. Overall, fair place to have lunch

It's a must go place for nasi padang lovers but make sure to be ready for the crowd especially at peak hour (lunch time). The eating spaces are kind of limited but don't worry as the owner will make a way for you to dine in there. It's kind of hard to find a parking spaces there but do nit hesitate as the food wouldn't disappoint.

THE place to go to, to have mixed rice for lunch. lots of variety of dishes to choose from especially the Grilled Jacket Fish stuffed with sambal. I do recommend this place if you are not into Nasi Kandar.

Been coming for more than 20 years. Love their friend cili fish or ikan belah belakang or ikan jacket! Superb!! Other dishes are tasty too. You can park your car at the roofted carpar beside this eatery. Lotsa people everyday. Long queue but be brave, you'll make it! If can't find seating place, try ask the Chinese aunty (the Chinese aunty's serve drinks and the food is cooked by Indonesia family) ... she may able to open a table for you, if you are lucky. Have a good eat! 😋

  • 5/5 Ummu S. 2 years ago on Google
Not really nasi padang but it was the best nasi campur ive ever had. Every single dishes were delicious and price was affordable . Parking was tough though. Can consider to park at the caltex opposite to the shop with a fee of rm3.

This place is the bomb! Get there early. We eat here multiple times on during our visits to Penang. Great customer service for both food and drink. We haven’t been here for almost 3 years due to Covid. We came in today and we’re immediately recognized. For food…. Too many types of food to choose from or describe. So I will simply mention their specialty - ikan cencaru sumbat bawan- fried, onions and white fish. Simply yummy! Eat like a king, until full for RM40.

One of our mandatory stop for Penang Food Trip! Famous and legit super delicious Ikan Cencaru Sumbat Sambal Bawang Goreng (Fried Torpedo Scad Fish with stuffed chilli paste and fried onion)! Opens 11am daily except on Friday. Advisable to come 10.45am. If you are dining in, can just go straight enter the shop and find your table. For take away (tapaou need to queue). But to note that the fried ikan cencaru is only available at 11.30am. Worth the wait! So we only start to take our rice and other dishes once the fried ikan cencaru available. Theres a paid RM5 car park besides the restaurant.
