We took the Super Fast Ferry from Penang to Langkawi and it was a not so good experience. The condition of the ferry could be better and the crew could make some announcements from time to time. We stopped at an island and everyone was wondering why and where and after a couple of minutes the ride went on. It was also very cold on the ferry and that made the trip unnecessary unpleasant, it could be much better if not so cold. Price is okay and time was roughly 3 hours in total.

We took the ferry today to langkawi. Actuallly i was expecting the worst. But the trip was on time smooth sailing a bit long 3 hours. Nothing unusual the AC was working fine not very cold. I think they are improving their services.

Ferry is a little run down but overall check in process and trip was good. Elders should be helped with luggage during boarding and exiting the ferry though.

Apart from the fact that the boat was one hour late. The journey went fast. There are some tv broadcasting some movies which makes the journey even faster. Be prepared to be super cold in the boat so bring a jumper or a coat cause air con is way too cold.

We took the ferry from Penang to Langkawi. Booking was done through their website and was seamless. Overall the journey and the process was quite smooth. The ferry was okay and the staff did their job properly. Make sure to arrive early to get a better seat, in case you get sea sick that helps. For 80RM per person we can’t complain about the service.

Expected the worst but it was good. We left at 830, sea was flat and luggage was stowed away for free. They charge 1myr to print your ticket - hardly big money. Guy in the terminal was exceptionally smiley. May be not so good if the sea is up but you can go on deck if feeling queasy

Worst trip experience ever. Outside temperature 25-29C. Boat inside temperature 12-15C. A/C blows extremely hard directly toward passengers. Thanks for neck pain. Couldn't there be thermostat to adjust temperature?!?! Isn't there any check ups from company side of passengers wellbeing.

There were no issues. Our ferry at 8.30am left on time and arrived early in Langkawi. Boarding was quick and easy. Be aware that you need to print your boarding cards. You can do that at the ticket office located right next to the ferry entrance for RM 1 per ticket.

After reading so many negative comments, about cold and etc. I have prepared myself for winter inside the boat. But it was nothing like people say. Yes the boat is a bit outdated and the toilet is not the most sufisticated in the world. But the journey was fine. Fast service and easy journey from Penang to Langkawi.

Took a ferry from penang to langkawi. Staff is nice but the ferry itself was pretty bad. Windows were all tinted and dingy paint on the inside. Seats were pretty uncomfortable. Wouldn't recommend this for travelling unless they improve their boat fleet.

The ride was quite stressful and a lot of people puked. Also the inside of the cabin was way to cold. Do yourself a favour and travel by plane instead. It costs roundabout the same if you only travel with carry-on luggage and will be way more convenient.

Left relatively on time and had a smooth journey (0830 booking). Was expecting it to be cold based on other reviews but wasn’t at all and fairly comfy seats. Shame that the windows are blacked out because it made the view pretty dull!

Is the Langkawi to Penang ferry service still operational in July 2023?

Don't understand what all the bad reviews are about. Went to Langkawi from Penang, as well as the return journey. First of all, nobody on either boat trip got sea sick, they were both calm sailings. However, both sailings were different. The way to Langkawi was very cold as the air conditioning was on full blast the full time. You couldn't go outside, and no snacks were available for purchase. Aside from that, it was a smooth trip. The trip back was actually quite warm, but the outside was open, so you could go cool off and enjoy the fresh air and they also had snacks available for purchase. Both trips had movies playing, but essentially were both unwatchable. No big deal though, wasn't expecting to watch a movie. The final note is about all these people saying to fly. Yes it is faster, but you have to pay more for travelling as the airport in Langkawi and Penang is significantly further away from the built up areas than the ferry terminal is. Also, if you want a cheap flight , it's very early in the morning meaning you have to wake up even earlier to transit to the airport and be there an hour early. All in all, the ferry seemed like a good option, and both trips were comfortable and smooth.
