Sushi Zanmai

Restaurant Japanese restaurant

👍👍 Good food and good environment. Staffs are friendly. Food served fast. The price is very affordable. I can say its really worth because the price of all the food is considered low compared to other Japanese restaurants. One thing here is they don't have a sushi belt in the restaurant. People often mention good, Japanese, sushi, restaurant, Sushi, quality, service, served, price, taste,

Recently renovated so the place looks nicer and more spacious than previous. The food is still good regardless so good job. However, I ordered Karasu Karei Don, crispy fried Atlantic Flounder, the fish itself is pretty much tasteless. The batter for the fish was tasteless, and the fish meat itself was tasteless so I had to put shoyu on top of it. They could've put some salt and pepper into the batter mix at least the fish wouldn't taste so bland. Service wise, the manager was great but the waitress was a bit unprofessional. The restaurant was not very busy at the time of the visit but the two times that I get ahold of the waitress, she came up to the table with a frown and looked unhappy to be there. The only reason why I had to get ahold of her twice was that she left before I could finish putting in my request. So, she came up to the table frowning twice and like she wasn't happy at all. She also served food on my table like she wasn't willing to work as well. My table's call bell, unfortunately, did not work, resulting in me popping my head looking out for the servers constantly. When my food arrived, I opened the chopstick box to get myself a pair of chopsticks just to find out that there were no chopsticks and due to the absence of the servers, I had to communicate with the kitchen and request chopsticks since their layout allowed me an opportunity to communicate with them and the chef noticed me. Thank you chef, for your attentiveness. Atmosphere almost full star but because aircon was like so hot, it's hard to give full star. Sushi Zanmai management really need to talk to Gurney Paragon's management to find out what is the problem with the aircon. It has been hot for many years in the restaurant. One waitress was walking while dragging her feet on the floor so it was very noisy.

The place was spacious. However the place that we seated was kind of hot during afternoon hot sun. The waiter did warned us. Hahahaha. 😅 The cushion was broken, did not maintain well. The food was consider okay. The taste is nice. Same as most of the restaurant now, they give customer the QR code to scan and order directly through website. For those customer who do not have access to the internet can manually ask for the menu. Service was so so might due to lack of staff. If you order green tea, will serve a 1 big jar. Free flow. Car park will not be an issue, Gurney Paragon have plenty of parking space. Can park at Gurney Plaza to walk over too.

Another Japanese Food under Super Alliance chain of Japanese Restaurant. They serves moderate quality, taste and flavorful japanese cuisine. We ordered the Kimuchi Topshell, Kani Avocado Salad, Chicken Katsu Curry, Spicy Karei Nabe, Kaisen Ramen, Ika Sugatayaki, Lobster Roll and Yasai Croquette. The notable ones for us are Chicken Katsu Curry and Kaisen Ramen. Averaged food with clean and good ambience.

Personally it's better and has more choices than Sushi Tei next door (Gurney Plaza) There are also small options for the rice and noodle dishes so you could order more sides like sashimi, yakimono, tempura or sushi to have more variety

My experience in Japanese restaurants not much but this one I think is the medium standard Japanese restaurant. The price is reasonable, friendly hospitality and is pack during my visit. Food here as promised, and the waiters have done their best to serve us.

I wish I could give this place a better review as it is kind of our back up plan whenever we want sushi as it's next door to where we live when we are in Penang but unfortunately despite the fact that the sashimi is actually decent and the agedashi, and the rest of the food is actually good too the service is soooooooo slow even for Malaysia. We have been here twice this trip and our drinks always come way after our food. We literally have to hunt down people to ask for something. They have this electronic ordering which is supposed to make things more efficient. Also a very loud obnoxious bell at the table if you need a server. I don't know what to say. So many annoying little things that seem like it would be easy to fix. They gave us a complimentary beer last time because we had to wait so long for our food. This time we tried to order dessert but they ran out. Hmmm. If there is another place that is better close by I think we would stop coming here. We will try Ippudo to see if it's better.

Ordered the ramen and sushi moriawase. The ramen was a little salty. However, I was pleased that the waiter took the effort to find out how I felt about the food.

One of the Japanese Cuisine in Penang Island. Food taste not bad but a bit lower than my expectations as on the price. Price is abit pricey for the food served. Free flow of green tea which is same as others.

Sushi rice was a bit dry and hard. Octopus sushi was very dry and not good. Localized Japanese food. Staff was working hard and doing well.

The food and service here used to be great, till recently the food quality has gone down and the service has been very bad. First of all, there was a queue when I visited this outlet last weekend, in my waiting period of 25 minutes, none of the staffs came to check and manage the queue AT ALL! There were people coming out and they never check the queue and let people in. The sashimi served was not fresh at all! The food served were cold as well (Don). It used to be good dining here, please improve the service quality and the food quality here.

The sushi and sashimi are good but hirashi chuka ramen did not taste quite right.

Food is great. Friendly and helpful staff. Everything is nice. Just one thing. There was this noise. Not sure if it came from the ac or what. It's a lil annoying.

Great experience here and the food was nice and reasonably priced. There were also robots serving food to customers which is quite unique.

Sushi Zanmai had a recent makeover to the outlet and seating arrangement is more spacious and much better than before. Pricing is still reasonable and they are still able to uphold the food quality here compare to their 1 Utama branch.

Sushi Zanmai offers a wide selection of cuisine with a medium price. Tempura is tempting. The staff are friendly, quick in action and helpful during our visit.

I spent only 1 full day in Penang, but decided to have both lunch and dinner there. Salmon was simply delicious; actually everything was delicious. Highly recommended!

Is still a popular Japanese restaurant. Friendly staff , well prepared food, average pricing for its pleasant ambience in a posh shopping mall. Slightly warm at our corner.

Relatively cheaper than most sushi restaurants. Taste was fine, but the sushi had wayyy too much rice (the pic below shows the excess rice from my sushi roll). Service was good.

Sushi Zanmai is definitely one of my most visited Japanese restaurant due to the decent price and good variety of food selections. Can never get sick of the tamago mentai! Sushi are goods in terms of the appearance and flavours. While for the don, personally hope they can provide more toppings instead of just whole chunk of rice with little meats or shrimps.

It is my first and last visit. Tasteless and burned taste fried rice!

Staff trying their very best to accommodate the large crowd. The lack of staff, however, has reduced the quality of customer service. Waited 30 mins for a can of Coca Cola. Will not come back although it used to be a go to spot. Food was alright.

Food is pretty average but consistent for the price. Service is friendly but food comes out randomly which is quite annoying.

Standard Zanmai options but service is good when it's not crowded. It can get a little busy so best to go before peak hours. Food is fresh and served fairly quickly. Nice for a wide selection of Japanese fare.

Overall good quality and value for money Japanese food 😊 Salmon sushi melts in your mouth. Good service, and nice interior bright and modern. Nigiri is handmade sushi and served compact and just right for biting. A higher quality Japanese sushi belt restaurant than Sushi King or Sushi Mentai.
