Hidden
away
along
Burmah
Road
is
this
gem
which
has
begun
to
make
a
name
for
itself
for
good
Malay
food.
The
easiest
way
to
find
it
is
to
look
for
Ghee
Hiang
and
Quallys
occupies
the
left
most
lot
of
three
lots
there.
Parking
is
almost
non
existent
and
you'd
have
to
park
a
little
away
at
the
streets
nearby.
The
shop
is
fronted
with
a
grill
and
a
serving
area
which
displays
the
offerings
of
the
day.
Around
10
to
12
dishes
are
normally
on
display
and
the
grill
seems
to
be
operating
non
stop
with
daily
specials.
The
proprietor
would
normally
be
the
one
cooking
and
serving,
and
she
is
really
a
gem.
The
warmth
in
her
greeting
and
assistance
in
introducing
and
choosing
the
dishes,
encourages
one
to
try
almost
everything.
Dropping
in
for
an
early
lunch
at
around
11:30am,
there
were
already
diners
in
the
small
but
comfortable
dining
area.
Also,
as
I
sat
inside
gorging
myself
on
her
dishes
I
noticed
a
queue
forming
outside
-
another
sure
sign
of
popularity.
The
dishes
I
had
were
Stingray
curry
which
was
done
perfectly.
Fried
chicken,
beef
brisket,
vegetables,
and
the
briyani
rice
with
hardboiled
eggs
were
all
perfect.
Ingredients
used
were
all
very
fresh,
and
the
quality
speaks
for
itself.
My
dining
mate
also
suggested
to
try
the
Ayam
Percik
when
it's
available
next
as
well,
which,
disappointingly
was
not
during
my
time
there.
Prices
are
super
reasonable
and
it's
now
on
my
list
of
must
visit
when
I
am
back
in
Penang
again.
