Room was nice. Was clean and spacious. Shared bathroom decent. However, I have to knock it's rating down as there's a turtle who just looks sad in the well downstairs. Just swimming round in circles all day bored, no stimulation. It sits on the one rock it has looking up constantly which clearly suggests it wants to escape its prison. This I don't agree with at all.

I had the pleasure of staying at My Guesthouse 109 during my recent trip to Malaysia, and I can honestly say it was probably the best stay I've had in the country. 🐈 The guesthouse is a paradise for animal lovers, with plenty of cute and cuddly cats, a turtle, and a bunny that made my stay even more special. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, making me feel right at home. The whole place was spotlessly clean, and the shared bathroom was sparkling clean and well-maintained. The stylish decor added to the ambiance of the guesthouse, and it was clear that every detail was well thought out. The location is also very convenient, with many restaurants and the city center within walking distance. Overall, I had a fantastic stay at My Guesthouse 109, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable and stylish accommodation in Malaysia. I look forward to returning in the future!

Fantastic guesthouse in Penang. Not disappointed at all for picking this one. There are 4/5 beautiful cats that also live here who are very friendly and make your stay even more enjoyable. There is a free washing machine and space to dry your clothes outside. A simple kitchen with water machine and fridge. It's close to good tourist attractions and Kimberly Street. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a place to stay in Penang! The host was also very informative and made my arrival straightforward.

Full of cats, beware if you are allergic to cats, because the cats are like fluffballs and some are too tempting to not play with (I'm not blaming cats or the owner, I just say if you are allergic to cat, please consider this fact) Reception quite often unattended Room was smelly and humid as there was no exhaust fan, yes turning on the aircon helped but it was still a bit of an experience, so if you are ok for the initial smell, you are good to go. I have stayed in backpackers before hence i could point out about the difference. Of course the comparison was made between 1 backpacker to another, not to a hotel. But all in all it was clean

Pros: good location, clean room and bathroom, free filtered drinking water and free bicycles. Con: very thin walls/doors. You can hear everything that is happening in the hallway/doors closing and opening. We had a room at the street which was really loud. If you stay try to get a room away from the street. Also the cats are everywhere so there is also cat hair everywhere and the cats try to get into your room. Not really a place to meet other travelers/get good advice since the only local present is the cleaning Lady who does not speak much English.

Absolutely amazing guesthouse: cozy, beautiful spaces, very spacious and comfortable room with desk for working. The cats are very friendly and cute. The bathroom is shared but it was never crowded. Everything is clean and well maintained. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The location is also perfect, close to great restaurants and bars. If we ever coming back we will stay for sure there ❀️❀️❀️

Fantastic location with many good places to eat and trendy cafes within a block (Tiger char kay teow, La vie en rose patisserie, Ichi tong noodle soup). Also close to komtar for buses and bus stop for free CAT bus nearby. Thin walls so you need everyone staying to be considerate. I needed to use ear plugs due to one noisy aircon left on high all night (not the one in my room). Good to have filtered water for free and cats to say hi to when you return.

Clean, comfortable, good location, cats roaming around, worth the value. Need to be prepared of the noise from the vehicles on street at night if you’re a light sleeper.

It is a place full of character. Their cats are lovely and friendly. Free Self-laundry and free bicycle and tea/coffee & water and top wifi connections were great. It was in a good location. You should check restaurants on the same street. Great lunch next door : Chang Noi Our wall room was a little fine. You could hear everyone. We are not sure that the cats have a chance to get out. Knowing these points, I would enjoy staying there again. #AntoineLphotos #AlamaCare Project: Midwives Around The World

My favorite overnight stay in George Town. A beautifully updated historic home, clean, comfortable rooms with shared facilities. It works seamlessly to create a magical overnight stay. Fantastic owners who are always on-call for assistance, or to remind you the names of the house cats. Highly Recommend

we loved our stay at the guesthouse! The house is a really neat old style and feels just like home. The cats are very funny and cute, and we really appreciated being able to use the laundry machine. The host was very kind and location is super convenient

We have been here for 3 nights, the location is really central and in our room there wasn’t any noise at all. Reasonable price as well.

Best place in the town! I stayed here for 2nd time and everything was just perfect. We had a room with the window to the street but nights were calm. Really appreciated: clean bathroom, kitchen/fridge, good A/C in the room, wifi, drinking water, washer and bike (for free). Location is also good, close to the old town and also to the mall. Only one thing: you will get only 1 card from your room, so be very careful! :)

There are 5 cute cats in the guest house and this is its main advantage)) Room is small and inconvenient, AC blows right to the bed, but without it is impossible to stay – all the windows are inside the building. When turning off the light, ventilation stops working as well. So it's place only for one or two nights.

OH THE CATS! 🐱🐱 They got 5 sleepy chonky and well-behaved cats, except for the one named Starbucks who sometimes tease the other cats, but he's still sweet and adorable. They also have a fluffy rabbit and a turtle in the well. The place is homy and clean. They have bikes you can borrow and washing machine for you to use free of charge. The owner is really friendly and helpful.

Nice guesthouse and helpful staff. Double room was small and bit pricey though (30€/night). Nevertheless everything was clean and working properly. Good location in Chinatown next to the world heritage area, pretty much all the major sights are in walking distance.

Spacious and cozy shophouse-style guesthouse in Georgetown. There's a cat, bunny, fish, and a couple turtles in the wishing well on the first floor. The rooms were very clean and the staff had even strung up a "Happy Birthday" welcome sign in the room for me when we checked in (they knew it was my birthday!). It was a nice touch :-) My only real complaint was that the staff were never in the guesthouse. I stayed there for a nearly a week and only saw them twice. My girlfriend said she preferred this, but I found it inconvenient. Need a towel? Locked out? Have a special request? You need to call the staff and wait for them to come to the guesthouse.

We loved this place, and it's probably part of why we enjoyed Georgetown and Penang so much. The rooms are beautiful wooden rooms in a restored merchants house in the heart of Georgetown. All of the famous murals and landmarks are easily accessible from here. The hotel itself is well furnished and has a cozy welcoming feel. Also the cat that lives here is just the best.

We would rate it among one of the best guesthouse experiences we stayed in across the world. Efficient and fast replies from May (the guesthouse owner); easy to check-in despite our late arrival at 11pm; value-for-money, convenient and close to all the street food/hawkers stalls and even cafes we wanted to try. Most importantly, May's place was a peaceful, quiet sanctuary for guests who are a bit more introverted, quiet and lean towards having respectful space. Even though there were many lovely cats and other pets, it was kept cleaner than other guesthouses/hostels we stayed in. The shared bathrooms were squeaky clean and well-ventilated. Even the floor mats were changed on a daily basis. May was very clear in her listing, but do note that the partition walls are indeed very thin (it's normal this side of Asia especially in a heritage house) - please come prepared with earplugs if you are a light sleeper. It wasn't an issue for us, but a heads-up. Will definitely return.
