Brilliant concept. Great coffee and delicious traditional kuih - a must try! Just a shame that they only provide disposable cups/containers, even if you're dining in.

Amazingly delicious nasi lemak, potato curry puff and real coffee. Great job to the team. Taking covid and infection precautions such as using disposable single use cup and cutleries to prevent transmission of Covid and other infections. Staff adhered to masking and also handrub at all times, and disinfection. Good ventilation and air exchange especially upstairs, in the cafe. Smack on clean toilet as well. Keep up the amazing job. Hopefully in the future, there will be some healthy vegetarian options in the menu such as smoothiea.

Brilliant spot for Malaysian breakfasts and coffee. The lattes were great, and the service was too, with a nice outside verandah for drinking just off the street. Brilliant place to drink coffee and work on your laptop, which is what I was doing.

Lovee their hot mocha and cappuccino ❤️ Nasi lemak taste so good! But the service can be quite slow. Was rushing to workplace and stop by to grab quick breakfast hence just ordered the kuih, nasi lemak and some coffee. Understand that coffee can take some times to brew and do the art. But, maybe can serve the food first so that at least we can eat while waiting the coffee. Perhaps this is something that you can improve. Anyway, love the ambience and the waiter is friendly too!

The food was scrumptious and the flavours are well balanced. Best for breakfast. Recommended to ahve the lempeng sambal and lempeng Pisang. The kuih is a must and. The waiter was courteous and helpful. The cafe itself was very pretty they also have some card game and congkak to play with while you're waiting for your food. The indomie was very good it's quite spicy but it goes well to my likings.Overall The place was very nice and comfy Food very nice and simple. A bit late though in preparation. Nice presentation..unique traditional ambience. Soft music. Try to get the 1st floor sitting for better view while dining.

Nice and cozy place to chill with your friends or dating with your partner. I love the idea breakfast at the window, such a great feeling❤️ If you go early, there were many choice of breakfast especially nasi lemak and malay traditional kuih. My husband love their bengkang ubi. I love the sambal eating with lempeng🔥 Latte and chocolate drinks also good. Not yet try the nasi lemak coz always sold out (we always go late also😅). Will try the nasi lemak next time. Highly recommended👍🏻

Konsep menu yang amat menarik sekali! Looking at the menu made me think what it actually is. Just imagine a kid saying a normal menu, that’s secangkir’s menu. Love the assorted kuihs, very affordable. The Nasi lemak was a bit too spicy for me but it’s really delicious. Overall, love the Malay elements incorporated in this cafe. The music is great, do you mind sharing the playlist? 🤩

Pleasant surroundings - great drink options and a modest menu. It has your Malaysian classics of kaya toast / half boiled eggs and noodle dishes. There are also some classic Malaysian cakes on display when you first enter. We ordered half boiled eggs with the kaya toast. They were unfortunately sold out of the kaya steamed bread which we wanted. Drinks wise we ordered an iced hazelnut chocolate and an iced mocha. All up this was 36RM. Everything tasted as expected. They have limited seating upstairs - just an FYI that you must remove your shoes before going up. You can choose where you sit - They have 2 window seating arrangements, and a floor seating arrangement. The rest are just in the middle of the room. Wherever you sit it had a great amount of natural lighting entering through which was nice. Overall a good experience.

If you're looking for authentic Malaysian kuih, this is the place. The Americano coffee is good and kuih seri muka, kuih tepung bungkus and kuih lepat liat tastes so good. The staff are friendly as well and the environment so relax, cozy ambience. However, the space here is quite limited.

I like the idea of having a cup of coffee with some kuih. Unfortunately, there weren’t many options of kuih when I was there. The ambience was quite nice. Enjoyed sitting by the window. But what’s with takeaway plastic cups when people dine in?

Small, nice and cozy dine in area. Has beautiful and aesthetic indoor designs, the coffees and kueh are good, but may be a bit pricey. Good and comfortable enough to lepak with small circle of friends.

Nice place to enjoy your coffee and they served traditional malay food also. Worth for money to come but bare in mind that quite hard to find the parking.

Iced Hazelnut Latte was very good. So was Teh Tarik (It's called Teh Lama here). Kuih bingka ubi and buah melaka were below par. Mee Rakyat (Indomie - fried with egg) was not too bad. Staff were warm and friendly.

(Translated by Google) The concept of this cafe is interesting. Aesthetic and comfortable. Most of their menu serves local food. Although the aesthetics still feel Malay and Malaysian. You can sit for a long time and not feel the time pass, the deck is too comfortable. The price is of course not like the nasi lemak and kuih in street stalls. But, to eat such food in a cafe that is as beautiful and calm and feels like home, the price feels worth it and reasonable. As for the food I tried, roti jala, the gravy looked a bit tart (not thick) but it tasted good and not bland. If the sauce is made to look thick, it may still look appetizing. Overall, I like these cafes. (Original) Konsep kafe ini menarik. Estetik dan nyaman. Kebanyakan menu mereka menghidangkan makanan lokal. Walaupun estetik tetap terasa kemelayuan dan ke-Malaysia-an. Kalau kuahnya dibuat tampak pekat mungkin ia lagi tampak menyelerakan. Keseluruhannya, aku suka kafe-kafe sebegini.

Finally made a trip to this cafe and I’m loving it. Kinda remind me of my hometown- Terengganu! My friend and I aren’t a sweet tooth person. We were thinking not to ordering so much sweet kuih. I instantly regret after taking my first bite! The kuih taste good and it has the right amount of sweetness! We LOVE it! I can have more more more, 😝! We did not order more because the amount of food was just nice for both of us, 😂. Definitely worth to revisit for rest of the menus! Yum Yum! **Friendly staff! 👍🏻👍🏻

Love this place ❤️❤️ All the dishes I ordered I was so surprised. Never regret anything on the menu. . I love Malaysian foods because of this cafe. Nice and friendly staffs. Best barista made best coffee☕️ Can’t compare to any other cafe. . My days started here every single day. Do not hesitate Just come!!!! “SecangKir Kopi Hitam” “A cup of black coffee” “กาแฟดำแก้วหนึ่ง“ This is our most favorite place in Penang. Fortunately we meet. Their foods on the menu can’t go wrong. Whatever we chose was amazing. Coffee and foods made by heart served by lovely staff, chef and barista. BIG HIDDEN GEM 💎 in Penang is here. A small RM money change to stunning foods. Our brunch in Penang never fails in here… Love this place. We miss you. #Penang #cafe #coffee #malay #eat #drink #ปีนัง #กาแฟ #vacation #happy #food #Malaysianfood #iLovePenang

If you are looking for local authentic malay food, this is the shop I can recommend. We ordered nasi lemak, 3pcs of kueh, 2 drinks & 1 roti bakar Nasi lemak is raw. The rice is undercooked. Mabey only mine. The sambal is good. Price for RM3.50 with plain nasi lemak is just affordable. Not cheap or expensive. The 3pcs of kueh is good. I really like the kueh talam. 1 pcs ok kueh cost about RM1.20 The drink. Americano & Salted caremal mocha, just as normal coffee shop. But we are waiting quite long just for the coffees. 15 minutes for this 2 drinks. Lastly, the vibe of this shop. Everything is good with old architecture interior, there is a toilet inside the shop, but there is limited space on the top floor.

Such a chill vibe there, I absolutely fell in love with this shop when I came. The food and drinks me n my sister ordered were delicious with reasonable price, you can even play board games or congkak while you're there. Staff friendly. Definitely would come again. INTERESTING FACT❗-> You can order their kuehs if you have events. My boss ordered it for our staff the other day. 4 sets of kueh were ordered; bengkang, ketayap, kuih cara, onde2. They can deliver to your place if requested but I'm not sure the pricing as it was ordered by my boss... Thank you Secangkir Kopi Hitam for the delicious kuehs🥰

i initially thought it was connected to ae coffee! upon entering the cafe, we were warmly welcomed by traditional malay songs which i found very unique! we ordered regular and hazelnut lattes, and the price were slightly cheaper than other cafes. the latte was meh for me but the hazelnut one was ok. the idea of having coffee with traditional kuih was very unique indeed! we loved the traditional kampung aesthetics and would surely come again to try their food!

I tried kaya toast (coconut jam on buttered toast) for breakfast for the first time on my trip, with scrambled eggs instead of a half boiled egg. Absolutely divine! The flat white was tasty too. It’s a lovely building and you take your shoes off to sit on the top floor. Only detraction was that it can get quite warm despite the ceiling and wall fans, but I would still come back, lovely place.

🫤 Overrated. Tried pork leg rice, Penang loh mee and Penang style CCF, all were subpar. Pork leg rice - Quite bland. The egg used was not even a proper lu-dan (soy egg), just a plain hard boiled egg. They did not even serve it with salted vege. Not good and not authentic. Penang loh mee - I'm a...
