Walked in, looked at my room and immediately walked out and looked for last minute accommodation elsewhere. Absolutely shocking. This definitely not a “4 star hotel”???!. How??! So dirty, so cheap, so so run down, not a safe area, no safe parking, building is falling apart - Looks nothing like the pictures !! Don’t be fooled, the price you pay for this place is definitely not worth it, there are much better guest houses in the area. Can’t believe people are rating this place above a 3 on these reviews?! Are we speaking of the same place? The fact that I walked out same day and was willing to pay for another place… says it all.

SAFETY HAZARD!!! During March 2023, my husband, myself and my 4 year old child checked in here for the first time. My child leaned against the banister on the top floor and the entire beam fell out - luckily my husband caught him in time or he would have fallen through! I was at the bottom of the railing and watched horrified as the piece of the railing fell past my head onto the bed below. I immediately complained to management, as my child could have been seriously injured. They did not seem to care at all. My husband hand to manually knock the beam back in place with force, but it was not secure. They said the manager will investigate and "may" refund me. I proceeded to stay another night to give it another chance and paid in full. I have sent numerous emails to Megan, the manager, with not one single response. I am horrified at the lack of customer service and I was a first time customer too. You cannot have such a safety hazard that could serverly injure a small child and management does not even bother to get back to you. The least I would expect is a refund ! Or even a REPLY with an APOLOGY !!!!!! Clearly I am not running after the refund as I opted to stay a second night and paid for both in full. I reported this with the hope this would not happen to the next family who stayed there.....I will not recommend this hotel to anyone and am informing others about this really shocking customer service. Why is the management so terrible with ANY feedback???

This is really one of the best places to stay. I have never come across such friendly and helpful staff. They really want to make your stay as pleasant as possible. I really felt at home and safe. You guys really rock .. From reception, kitchen staff to night staff, everyone just wanted to make sure you were okay or if there is anything they could do to make you stay more pleasant. I am definitely going back next month.. See you guys soon.

Small yet spacious, with a big kingsize bed and upstairs a sleeper couch. Bathrooms nice and tidy, I do prefer the rooms with the shower, because the bath is underneath the roof beam which can be troublesome when you need to get out. Other than that the view is beautiful over the swimming pool. The rooms have aircons to keep you nice and warm in winter and cool in summer, with complimentary water, and coffee.

My partner and I made the mistake of booking here, thinking that it was still a 4-star hotel as advertised. I've stayed in 3-star hotels locally which are infinitely better; he travels internationally to third world South East Asian countries and has had vastly better experiences in 2-star facilities in those countries. The rooms were OK, a bit shabby but we accept that post-Covid, maintenance and upkeep tends to not be prioritised due to budget issues. However, the staff were absolutely abysmal, from the dour, unfriendly receptionist when we checked in, to her night-duty replacement who seemed to only be interested in smoking outside, staring at his cellphone and speaking in mono-syllables. According to the sign at reception, the restaurant was open for dinner until 21h00; the menu (in the room) stated it was open until 20h30, so at 19h30 we went to have dinner....only to be ignored by the chef who came out to clear a plate from another table next to us. Were we invisible, we wondered? On enquiring at reception at 19h43 whether we would be served, my partner was told that the restaurant closes at 20h00. Had we been TOLD that on check-in an hour or so earlier, we would have gone through for dinner considerably earlier - but not a word was said. On hearing that we would leave a bad review, the receptionist went to the kitchen and clearly spoke to the chef as she bustled out, grabbed menus and came out to placate us. She managed to diffuse the situation as by this stage we were fuming having been on the road since 08h00 that morning, and promised to make us dinner, which was above average. She did save the day by making us laugh and assuring us that we would definitely not go to bed hungry, but the point is that it should never have come to that in the first place. On checking out the next day, the miserable receptionist from our check-in was back; not once did she enquire whether we enjoyed our stay, if everything had been to our satisfaction or even so much as a 'hope to see you again' - barely even a 'good morning' was uttered. I fully appreciate that the past 2 years has hit tourism very hard, that it has affected finances which in turn have negatively affected tourism facilities' abilities to maintain infrastructure and keep on sufficient staff - THAT can be explained away by the impact of the pandemic. But you can't blame apathy, unfriendliness and an unwelcoming attitude on that, and we experienced abysmal service in bucket loads. We will not be back.

It's charming above all. Staff, service and food all very good. Windows not unsulated from noise outside. Ideal location, best size rooms and facilities for price in all of George.

No ventilation in room 105 , alternatively, the window needs to be open for extra fresh air , secondly, no WiFi in room 105 as indicated!

3 out of the 6 bulbs on the chandelier (for want of a better word) we’re blown. The bathroom door was missing!!!!! After reassurance that the inverter would keep the plugs working during loadshedding, the plugs did d *not* work. I need assistance breathing and I suddenly felt that I was suffocating! Never coming back, that’s for sure!

Not worth the money. Definitely not a 4 star hotel anymore. Charming thatch building, perfectly suited to area! But... In need of maintenance. No shower (in 2022?!) Patches and unfinished work in bathroom. Garden and pool in need of maintenance. Noisy rooms (can hear everyone in passage and adjacent rooms) No loadshedding back up or even n battery light in the rooms.

Centrally located thatched Hotel with a pool and parking. Staff very friendly and helpful. The breakfast options included a cooked or English breakfast. The Wi-Fi internet connection can be improved.

Very cute rooms for the price, staff is very friendly and helpful but there was a used coffee mug when I entered my room. I think it's important for them to always check items before new guests walk in

I have visited some other places in George when visiting George for work, I found the right one, which is Oakhurst, lovely stay for two nights, breakfast was excellent, worth every cent, staff are friendly and helpful. The lady at reception with the blond hair, didn't get her name, keep up the friendly way you look after your client's keep it up from Patrick Hall

I was not impressed with the room at all. There are much better options to stay in George at the price they charge.

Lovely staff, in spite of 2 power failures they accommodated our needs and the breakfast was delicious. The room and beds were very comfortable

Fine, I'd recommend it, but the external doors (to the garden from the rooms) need to be fixed! However the person with whom I made the telephone booking wasn't at all helpful or communicative. It's not desirable in the hospitality industry to give the impression that your own convenience is more important than that of your clients.

Made a telephone booking. The hotel looks OK overall, but Brunelda, the receptionist greeted us with the most "couldn't care less face" not one smile,.. got the whole booking wrong, wanted to give me a more expensive rate than on 3rd parties booking platforms, told me that she was fully booked although there was plenty of rooms available online🤷🏻‍♂️😃. Ive hardly felt more unwelcommed than there. That's why I explained her, thanks to her unfriendly "service" I rather spend my well deserved time off elsewhere. Thank you for that disgraceful experience.

Place is habitable, not 4 star hotel, very old style rooms. Breakfast was terrible, the coffee was worse! The chair in the room was wobbly and almost fell off. No secured parking and very noisy traffic when you’re in your room.

Our last visit was 13years ago. It exceeded our expectations then and it exceeded our expectations now. This time we could share our experience with our children. The room was very clean and neat. Kids loved the bunker beds. Staff is very friendly. The family enjoyed a delicious breakfast before we went on our way. Staff assisted friendly with additional requests. Thanks for a great overnight stay. Will see you again!
