I can’t understand why this place is not 5 stars, one of the most picturesque beaches in South Africa, and one of the most stunning rooms I’ve ever had the pleasure to stay in. The owner Gary welcomed us into our room upon arrival. It’s a very short walk along the beach to the wonderful restaurant that is la salinas set just off the beach with basic but delicious food and live music every second Sunday of the month!!!

This was a great end to a wonderful South African vacation. The room was beautiful with a fantastic ocean view. It was a great way to relax after a very busy African adventure. The service great and the staff was very friendly. The breakfast was very nice and a great way to start the day. The area is beautiful with awesome views of the mountains and ocean.

Breathtaking views, superb location and friendly owner. Only if we knew how great it would be, we would have stayed longer! The location is very convenient too with both George and Knysna around the corner. There are quite a few hiking paths and beach walks to take. The next door restaurant Salinas offers delicious fish/seafood and meat dishes. We ver much enjoyed our stay!!

Dune Beach House was wonderful! I loved being right on the beach...being able to hear the roar of the surf, watch the changing sky and walk barefoot on the miles of clean sand. The room was simply and elegantly decorated, the breakfast was delicious and everyone was so friendly. WHEN (!) we come back, we will for sure book here again!

We booked booked the Africa room and were surprised with an upgrade by our amazing host Gary, to the sea room! It was an incredible space with beautiful views! Amazingly decorated & the breakfast was great - we were even spoilt with dolphins passing by. Incredible experience and highly recommend it. The room was beautiful and super spacious with incredible views / sea views & beautifully decorated

Dune beach house ist the perfect place to stay in Wilderness. Cosy, perfectly clean and well equipped rooms with stunning view! The breakfast is perfect! Gary and his staff are the most lovely hosts! We hope to come back!

Gary is absolutely superb accomadated me and my family last minute and the house is absolutely amazing , from the rooms to the Decor the beach access and the breakfast and not to mention the gorgeous views. We will definetly be back . Thank you once again

There is no other place to stay in Wilderness but here. We have been, come back and back again! The owner is on another level outstanding- rooms are immaculate, breakfast out of this world, attention to detail at its highest and the views and beach speak for themselves! Absolutely 100% recommend over and over! Thank you for another incredible stay!!

Dune Beach House is a true gem. It is located directly at the ocean - you can not get a better location in the Wilderness. Rooms have fantastic ocean views, and the hotel has direct beach access. The beach is wide and beautiful. The rooms are very spacious & quiet; the bed is comfortable. The Internet works perfectly (even during load shedding). The owner and the staff are very nice, helpful and full of advice. The Wilderness is a lovely town with an excellent choice of restaurants (Ilali was our favorite). It's a 3-minute drive from the Dune Beach House (or 25 min walk). Before coming to the Wilderness, we were thinking about staying closer to the town, and luckily we didn't. The Dune Beach House is the best option for Wilderness!

It is a beautiful hotel at an amazing place with great service. I was once there twenty years ago and was worried that it was not high quality anymore but it was still in top condition. The staff is very friendly and helpful. It was decorated by a person with a great sense of balance for beauty but not overwhelming. And the location overlooking the beautiful beach is stunning. What I specially like and is not offered by many hotels is that you can sit up in the bed and watch directly the sea in the morning. All in all a gem.

Dune Beach house is the place to stay in the Garden Route! We spent 4 nights there in Dec2021. Gary the owner takes care of everything himself. The location and decor of the beach house is just breathtaking. Also for families a great place (we have 2 younger kids). Everything has been carefully thought of: from the extra binoculars for guests to watch the sea life in front of the property to the beach toys, lounge chairs and beach bags. One highlight is definitely the breakfast, high quality with attention to detail. Thanks for an amazing experience at Dune Beach House

Perfect place to stay! Amazing place right above the beach with all the equipment you’ll need to stay at the beach. The room was perfect and the service was great. I would really recommend this place anytime.

Maybe one of the hidden gems of the Garden Route. The owner and staff are amazing and super kind and helpful. The Dune Beach House is right at the edge of the beach with 180 degrees views of the ocean. You can spot wales and dolphins right from your bed or balcony. We've been here 3 times (2008, 2014, 2022) and everything it is a pleasure. Not even to mention the breakfast. Definitely the best. Don't hesitate to book a stay here. You will not be disappointed.

The staff were nice, and the view was amazing! The rooms were neat and nearly comfortable, however; it was so cold and the heater wasn’t working properly as it was turning on and off. We didn’t book our rooms with breakfast, we would’ve loved to be informed that we should inform the staff the night before in case we decided to have it in the lodge. However, the breakfast was good. We had the most amazing evening here. From the welcoming to the departure. The service and hospitality was outstanding! What a beautiful venue with so many beautiful and intricate designing details. The view from the rooms were outstanding. You could see that cleanliness and hygiene are of a high standard. We loved every minute here, and would definitely recommend it!

Wow! I fell in love with this place. Absolute beauty, great hospitality, fantastic service and value for money. You can’t go wrong choosing the Dunes Guest House as the place to stay. I don’t want to leave!

We stayed 2 nights and the only thing the failed us was the weather! Otherwise "everything" was just great... clean spacious rooms, enjoyed the evening the fireplace ambience! Literally a few steps away from the beach... the complete package! Thank you Gary!

Amazing place, we had an ocean view from our room which was fantastic.. Waking up to the sound of the ocean was a total bliss. Friendly staff, beautiful interiors and tasty breakfast. Everything was Immaculate. 💜

The Dunes is a beautiful guest house, with a swimming pool just asking to be used. The room was spacious, well appointed and looks straight onto the ocean. The king size bed was extremely comfortable, and the ensuite bathroom has both a bath & shower. The breakfast made by Gary was suburb. My only complaint is that we only stayed one night. Thank you for a lovely breakaway Gary.
