Facilities are very old and not maintained, kitchen is very dirty and shower didn’t have hot water in the first night. Bad experience at garden route.

We loved every minute of our stay at fairy Knowe backpackers, as traveler's from the UK we were made to feel very welcome and safe from the minute we arrived. Basic and rustic accommodation, but this all added to the experience with a well stocked bar, live music and food available. We left here super relaxed and sad to leave. Big shout out to all the staff, especially Adrian, Wes, Lorcan and Dom. For the price don't expect 5 star luxury but everything was clean and comfortable, and relaxed with open fires every every evening too. We were a mixed group of male, female, South Africans and British ,aged 12 to 50 and we all had a great time.

Although I did not have time to stay over, visiting this place had a vibe of its own. People of all races, colour and creed come together and live the experience of what life is supposed to be like.

Just went to the outside bar there with family and it was such a cosy and relaxed environment. Very friendly staff and lovely people. Bands play, pool table and just great vibe. No cocktails, otherwise would be 5 stars.πŸ˜…πŸ˜‚

We hired Kyaks for the day from Knowles backpackers, beautiful river rowing, plenty of bird watching. River ends on which one can embark hike 3km to waterfall. Nb, no bathrooms on route, bring own food and fresh drinking water.

Amazing experience! We rented a kanoe for 2 for 12€ and had a great time in the camp. Everyone are super friendly and welcoming.

We only spent a night here and right when we arrived, loadshedding started and the whole thing was pitch black for hours. Not the place's fault, but we couldn't really experience much but a starlit night in the forests of Wilderness (which was also super nice!). Accommodation is nice, concept makes sense. Will be back someday.

It is what it is, a backpackers. Great location next to the river. Interesting people come and go. Open to everyone. Good camp spots to set up with facilities. Great bar area with fireplaces and benches underneath the trees.

It's a cool hostel in a great setting in nature. It definitely needs fixing and cleaning up as it's all a bit worn down now and also most of the showers have no hot water. The other issue is there seems to be more staff than guests which creates a kinda strange atmosphere as they only hang out with each other and don't tend to interact much with guests.

I have knowing this backpackers for longer than Twenty years and it is always a pleasure to book in and stay here. The surrounding nature and the peace of mind is awesome. The vibe is always great and when there is Live Entertainment or a bit of a fest. it is always a party. The surrounding attraction which one can go and see and enjoy i.e. sea, river, lagoon, restaurants, pubs, waterfalls, shops, etc. is absolutely awesome. So when it come to Fairy Knowe Backpackers, I give them a well earned recommendation and a recommendation for anyone to book and have a chilled time. If you the yippee type and need a Five Star Hotel then this backpacker is not for you. You can then rather book into the Fairy Knowe Hotel, basically right next door. But that doesn't stop you from visiting the Backpacker's for a good vibe and a couple of FROSTIES. Awesome place and Wilderness just in itself is just a breathe off fresh air to experience for any traveller, whether you be a local tourist or International. "A DEFINITE"

Amazing location, awesome vaaibs. Looks like a popular go-to hangout for the locals. Also impressed by bar staff that very quickly diffused drunk people situations, very professionally. I feel safe here. Also keeping the live music culture alive is so important. Thanks Fairy Knowe for the space for us to enjoy and come together.

Fairy Knowe has an amazing surrounding of nature and it's real close to the waterfall hike and river. Truly beautiful, except for the upper bathroom. It needs maintenance and the showers are a bit uncomfortable. Otherwise it was nice.

The backpackers feels very safe and there's some nice spots to set up and camp. Also a really cute market on Sundays. The kitchen only had 1 working stove top when I visited so making food when others were in the kitchen wasn't really possible.

A Fairy garden ...true Nature's best. Love the tree canopy and surrounds lending a beautiful peaceful place to spend time with friends.

Great place to visit with friends but it gets weird sometimes I often find myself saying "very no to fairy knowe" after a night there, yet I find myself inevitably returning for the lovely atmosphere and staff

Such a beautiful forrest setting, with the beach also close by. Clean neat rooms and facilities. Friendliest staff always ready to accommodate with any querie or request. Vibey bar that often has live music. They offer a range of outdoor activities so you'll never be bored.

Coolest place on the planet or should I say in Wilderness. Love the energy of the staff they have so much going on, great bands like Josh Roxton and a old favourite Wendy Oldfield, and a funky flea market on Sundays. I love the atmosphere of nature and the interesting people that frequent the space. A home away from home. They even got a metal detector to do some treasure hunting. There something magical about always waiting to happen. See you on the flip side Fairyknowe's

Lovely backbackers with a great Sunday market that seems to go all day if not mistaken! Lovely items from locals that have made or accumulated to sell. Love my markets and it’s a really nice one to stop at if your here on a Sunday in wilderness !

Awesome for atmosphere, and vibes. We had the best evenings there. And the kids absolutelu loved it. Evening live music was perfect every night. We couldnt use the water/river in the area due to pollution at the time we were there over December/NY. But we still had a great time in the surrounds. The place is a true backpackers, so expect a bohemian crowd. The Hosts were fantastic. There was option to buy dinner/lunch. Would have scored better if the communal kitchen/bathrooms were cleaner. Also a pool be a great addition...
