The place has a 180° view of the ocean and we spotted 5 whales today. The food is also good. It can get busy, so I would suggest making a booking.

Really good pizza on the day. During holiday season they have great live entertainment which we have a tradition attending at least once. The views are spectacular and the art gallery might be temptation for certain art lovers, some unique 3D art pieces on show. Oh and the coffee was great, as always.

We visited the restaurant only. What a view! The food was excellent; however, we wondered why it takes so long to bring the food. Service is very good.

Stunning restaurant co-located with lovely creative shops. Sadly, had the most disappointing dining experience. Arrived for brunch with several overseas friends at 10:05. Our food was served at 11:25. Coffees were cold, omelettes were tough. Totally unacceptable and such a shame but I won’t be returning to Seeplaas in a hurry.

Very dissappointed !!!! I don’t see myself as a difficult person, but were utterly disappointed with the service we received. We made a booking a week prior for 13h30, on arrival our table were not ready and patiently waited but were only seated 45 minutes later, we then waited another 30 minutes to receive our first drink. We were referred by friends to try the calamari only to find out that there is no stock, we only received our food 2 hours later (16h30). The place is so neat and most probably has one of the best views on the route but i urge management to give attention and to assist their staff. Regards

Thoroughly enjoyed our impromptu visit. I love the upmarket feel, the restaurant is open and airy, the menu has good variety. Lovey outside relaxing area to enjoy on a good day. Weekends after 5pm, the cafe serves lite food and a boma fire is lit. You can stay here, think it’s a great place to relax and find tranquility. Close enough to Hartenbos if you need a difference. I will prefer to book a stay here and do a bit of travelling. Certainly can recommend fab place.

Stunning ocean views from this establishment. There's a lovely restaurant overlooking the ocean, music & dancing slots, a gift shop and fabulous art gallery. A wonderful wedding venue. Seeplaas offers accomodation as well and the very unique Bubble....perfect for honeymooners

Once more, great food and excellent service! It’s a firm favourite on the list to visit when we are in the area and definitely well worth it. The view is also not bad 😂

Restaurant is super nice - the view is unreal - and the calamari was really good quality and tasty. Pity that they’ve stopped making the mussels with cream! Service is phenomenal (shoutout to Johan!). Perhaps one thing to improve is the acoustics in the main room as it’s very loud without the dampers!

If you are a sea lover, this restaurant is for you. Beautiful view of the sea. You can enjoy the food while listening to the rhythm of the waves. The food was delicious . We ordered fried fish and chicken wrap 😋 We don't have any idea about the accommodation. We just had lunch there.

We made a reservation a week ago at your restaurant to not only celebrate a special family event but to also get the chance to enjoy your good food and all the extras you have to offer. Walking in my breath was taken away by your extremely beautiful place and spectacular view. We were seated by your not so friendly manager.... And the whole atmosphere changed. Standing behind the manager was the lady that almost immediately introduced herself, as Jenni our waitress. She asked us about how we all were related and if there was any special occasion for the family get together. Enthusiastically and not knowing us from a bar of soap, immediately knew how to turn our first not so good impression into the most exceptional and over the top dining experience ever! I have never seen someone doing there job with such professionalism but yet mastering to make us laugh and feel like we have known her for many years. We could not wait for her to return to the table. We were a big group of people and Jenni knew exactly what to suggest as some of the family were indecisive on what to eat. She gave her honest opinion and knew her menu to the finest details. Between all the chaos of placing the order, she calming, repeated the order perfectly and ended it with a very smart sin for humor. Shockingly she did not write a single thing! And even more impressed us by getting everything perfect as ordered. Every single order was perfect! Making us even more feel important. I have had good service in my years, but never had this level of excellent service! She has definitely set the bar high and i think almost impossible to beat! I would definitely recommend overseeing her position in your business, cause i can promise you, she is most definitely a easy open for a steal. And i would bet a million on that! Thank you Seeplaas and thank you Jenni, my family and I will never forget this exceptional special experience. Have will recommend your business in future to everyone and will be giving great reviews about your business on all social platforms possible. Looking forward to visiting our new number place to eat!

The menu says Seeplaas is often referred to as the jewel of the Southern Cape, I would like to disagree. We Ordered a cappuccino and a juice which took 40 minutes to receive after we had to ask the waiter and the not very friendly manager for our drinks. Our food took more than a hour and it was brought to the table in drips and draps and some pf the meals were also cold. Our waitress was not very helpful and did not come to our table very often we had to go to her numerous times Was looking forward to our visit at Seeplaas since people recommended it but it was quite disappointing to be honest and the service was not what was expected

It sure is a beautiful restaurant with a fantastic view, just a pitty that we never got around to eating there as we stood and waited to be seated probably about 10 minutes. There were plenty of open tables but just nobody to assist. The one waiter's response was just 'I'm waiting for my manager with the list'. We eventually left to go to another restaurant.

Food was amazing. Liked our waiter. The manager was very rude and they are terrible with their phone as we tried calling and messaging to reserve a table and were unable to get through and didn't receive a response. Upon arrival they were full and when we spoke the manager he asked if we had reserved a table to which we said we tried contact them and his response was "And what now?" Beside him beautiful art galley and shop, lovely views, beautiful restaurant.

By far one of my best holiday destinations, we stayed in the bubble unit,it exceeded my expectations, the ocean views from the unit are unmatched. Beautiful sunrises. The hot tub was also amazing. Would definitely be coming back to Seeplaas.

Best view ever. Beautiful art gallery, lots of crafts to buy. Excellent view of Mosselbay all the way to Hartenbos. Carrot cake and the Bar one sticky chocolate cake to die for. Very beautiful location to take friends to enjoy a relaxing day

Absolutely wonderful venue & view. Nice play-park for kids. Beautiful sitting areas. Unfortunately the food is a bit disappointing. I had the battered fish with rice as the side option. The hake fillet was excellent but the rice was not. The calamari portion looks more like a starter. Will probably visit them again just to have a sundowner.

I didn't have time to write a review when Google prompted me for a rating. Nevertheless, we really enjoyed our lunch at Seeplaas Restaurant :) It's especially pleasing to find a place that is doggie-friendly, as dad doesn't go anywhere without his Lady. The view is awesome, and a great whale-watching spot. Next time, we will call to book a table before arriving - a very popular venue! The Ken Maloney Gallery (on site) is a treat to explore.

The setpoint views were incredible. The food was outstanding. The place really had that homey atmosphere and not to mention the service. I'd definitely book this again next time.

Spent 2 nights in the Bubble; an amazing & unique experience; it is exquisitely designed & cozy. The calming sound of the waves, seeing a beautiful sunrise from bed & the view of the ocean was an absolute treat. Ending the day with a soak in the hot-tub under the stars was a cherry on top. The staff, from reception (Marian) to housekeeping (Wilson) & the restaurant (Bianca & William) were friendly & attentive - thank you for making our stay pleasant.

Recently celebrated a friend's birthday at Seeplaas restaurant, which is incredibly beautiful. The service was top class. Johan our waiter and the manager Chris, thank you so much for your organization and warmth. Wine prices were great and the Beach House Pizza was SO GOOD.

Great view, perfect location. My husband loved his fish curry my food was a dissapointment. Such incredible views great potential. Ordered an Irish coffee at the end of the meal looked like tea with no cream. Asked about it and was told that's just how they do it...

The value you get at this place is incredible. Just the location and the view are already worth it. The service is friendly and efficient. We shared a few seafood platters and they were delectable. Everything contributed to a great time for celebrating my wife's birthday. My only criticism is that the french fries are quite disappointing and I would expect either freshly cut chips (thanks Bertus Basson) or a type of bread as an alternative. Nevertheless, it was an amazing experience and I'll be sure to ask for that next time.

The view is amazing!!!! Food is great and so is the wine list. The breakfast pizza is not for the faint hearted, but definitely worth a try. Be sure to visit the art gallery and staying over in the bubble tent is a must. Something you will always remember

The fish and chips, Milo and wine was absolutely lovely. Such a nice view and ambiance. Service was very good. One star deducted as they didn't debone the fish properly and our change was a rolled up note in the waiter's hand. Come on guys, you deserve 5 stars 🌟

Loved this place. We stayed in the bubble tent for a new different experience and it certainly was Communication was good from initial booking a few months prior to the morning of arrival when we were asked to check in online and arrival time as they prepared a platter and fruit juice for us The bubble is amazing, you totally cut off , no 1 can get to you from the lodge or the beach. The bubble accessed via a private path through the bushes and a wooden door. The bathroom which is a concrete structure is separate, very big with a bath and shower with views of the ocean. There are 2 bubbles, the smaller 1 has a coffee station, fridge and some storage space. The big bubble is the bedroom with amazing views of the ocean and stars at night. There is also a jacuzzi, hammock, wooden seating and concrete seats and table also perfect for viewing the ocean. There are curtains you can pull around the bed if you wish but spoils the experience In my view. We could hear the ocean all night, went for a beach walk early morning and had an amazing breakfast, which is included in the cost Really well maintained place, has art gallery on site and lots of open spaces to sit. Service was friendly and food really good value

Amazing views of the ocean whilst tasting wine from Diemersdal and Durbanville. The wine concierge was very insightful and went out of his way to get a table for us. The food is delicious and service is great. I do however recommend to make a booking in advance for lunch as you will wait a long time for a table.

Someone recommended that we go to Seeplaas for a meal. What a wonderful gem along the Garden route. I had the breakfast pizza which is big enough to share and really a nice and different breakfast. My mom had the Seeplaas breakfast which was also very tasty. The views are unbeatable. You have a panoramic view on the sea and we were spoilt seeing some dolpins as well. We did not stay over, but if the rooms and service is like that in the restaurant, then I believe it might be worth it. We will go back as we did not have time to walk through the art gallery or curios shop. Next time we will make sure we are not in a hurry.

We drove through from George (very exited) for our first Sunday Lunch experience @Seeplaas. We returned home very disappointed. My Calamari was over cooked - almost burned, and overpriced for the quantity served. According to the menu, it is supposed to be served with lemon wedges and tartar which I did not receive. When we mentioned that to our waiter he replied; Oh, was it not on the plate? We waited a very long time for our waiter to come back to our table and had to ask someone to call him to ask if we wanted any desserts. When we mentioned to him that we are not happy about the service and explained why he replied: That's the food, not the service. Isn't it the waiter's job to make sure that everything is on the plate (lemon wedges and tartar) as advertised on the menu? We had to send back one of the milkshakes as it was very milky without any icecream. Very, very disappointing experience.

Thank you to management that listened to my complaint below and took action to rectify. It is much appreciated. I will definitely recommend this restaurant, their food are delicious. We had breakfast in the restaurant. The food was good. Prices average. Service fine. What was unacceptable for was the fact that I had to drink my coffee in a CRACKED mug. How can you serve any food or drinks in anything with a crack in it?

  • 5/5 Francois C. 1 year ago on Google
We had an amazing two day experience at the restaurant with quick and friendly service from the staff. The decor is beautiful, especially with the exceptional art on display. It's a pleasant place to sit and enjoy alone or with company. The atmosphere was lively with just the right amount of ambient noise which made it very pleasant to enjoy our meal while talking and laughing. This place more than deserves a 5 star review, because I can not recall a place with similar outstanding service.

Thanks to all the staff who made this possible. This is THE most amazing place and definitely our favourite go to place. You are really great. 10 out of 10!
