What a delightful little museum smack bang on the corners of York street and Courtenay street, in the middle of George. It hosts several themes from wood, dolls, insects, antiques, etc. Staff are very friendly and helpful. It is amazing that such a place operates without charging any fees, but I suppose this approach is also responsible for the decline of the facility, because they aren't receiving any fees from visitors. Visit this gem before it vanishes completely.

A small but interesting museum showcasing the history of the area. There is also a large art gallery on site with new exhibitions every few months, mostly artists from the Garden route. The museum is in the process of being revamped.

Lovely exhibition of local history combined with a large art gallery. Staff is very welcoming and friendly, the mix of some of the darker history with artworks is great!

As an art exhibition space it is more than adequate. As a museum it has some interesting exhibits, but it should maybe spend some effort into making it more interactive especially for the younger generation.

Best collection of George's in the country! I picked my George up just the other day and maybe you could grab a little George for yourself! So come on down to the George Museum and take a little piece of history that you treasure forever.

Some renovation work was done recently when we visited. The exhibits could be better presented, that being said it's a work in progress.

Busy with renevations. The youngster working in the museum that is open to public dont know her facts or ittems on display. Why is staff untrained? They are more intrested to talk to their friends than to work and answering your questions or share knowledge.

The Sayers Hall, named after the founder of a museum in George, is a great place for art exhibitions. The art on show is changed most months and showcases local artists.

Some nice historic things to learn about george

  • 3/5 Fuad C. 6 years ago on Google
The museum takes you back in time with some really antique exhibits on display. Some of the history of George is wonderfully illustrated and captured in script, paintings and photographs. A nice way to spend an hour or two exploring and learning with an appreciation for history and the artifacts diaplayed. Upkeep and maintenance of this wonderful building can be improved. A very stiff feel created by the staff and some friendlier faces would be a welcome addition.

The museum is mostly art and a few other things like old typewriters, phones and wood work. I was expecting something more. The staff was very friendly and they told us they will wait till we are done before closing. During covid they close at 3pm

Very interesting, some nice old world stuff and informative plaques explaining the history of George and the immediate area, all based in the old Drosdty house, which (according to what I read) was the original residence of the governor of George.

(Translated by Google) As already written by others, it is more of a hodgepodge of different things that sometimes have even remotely to do with George. Even if the operators or employees have made a lot of effort here, this is nothing that is really special. A change for 60-90 minutes, as there isn't so much to see in George now.
