I have been to caves all over the world, and this one had some beautiful formations in large, open rooms. The Heritage tour was simple and easy, but way too many people were booked on the tour. It's definitely worth seeing.

An excellent attraction and worth the travel to Oudtshoorn to visit. It's got a lot of historical value and the guides give a lot of explanations through the tour of the caves. They do have some restaurants within the building so you can have a meal before or after your tour of the caves.

Had a lovely experience. The guide was well informed and friendly. The tour was fun, even though there was lots of walking involved. The breathtaking scenery took your mind completely off the exercise and humidity. Would highly recommend a visit to anyone.

Loved the caves. First time back since 1989 when I was 8 years old. Now I took my children. Caves are still very well preserved. We had a great guide. Kids loved it. One can see that tourism took a knock during Covid with restaurant and shop still closed. This is such a valuable tourist attraction and asset to South Africa. Hope many South Africans can see this in their lifetime .

What a breath taking experience! The caves are wondorous, the guides are knowledgeable and friendly, the education tour is very well done although a little old, the gift shop is beautiful and well stocked. The grounds are very neatly kept, and the bathrooms clean

The Cango caves are about 30 km outside the quaint town of Oudtshoorn. You have to book tickets online. Alistair was our guide and well knowledgeable. We did the Heritage tour which can be done with a low fitness level. Caves are well maintained with paved walkways. Price was R150 per adult and R100 for children. Bring your own food and drink since the curio shops are closed. Toilets are clean. Park at level 1 or 2, to be near the entrance.

We had a great experience at this place. Each session goes after an hour. We had to wait for about 30 minutes before the next session. We went shopping around to kill the time. The shops have nice things and are reasonably priced to accommodate both locals and tourists. Our session took 90 minutes. By the time we were done, I was finished, and the water shop was situated right at the exit door to refresh. The tour was quite amazing and the tour guide was quite amazing, especially with kids. This is a great place, and I would recommend anyone visiting Oudtshoorn to make sure they visit.

What an incredible experience. Our guide was engaging and funny. He had so many great insights to share. The Caves itself was phenomenal. The kids never got bored. They enjoyed every moment. We hope to go back and do the adventure tour sometime soon.

An amazing tour with a very informative talk. During my wait time I visited the museum and a very interesting and breathtaking documentary. Will recommend the heritage tour if you are not fit or unable to deal with closed narrow spaces . With loadshed the card machine sometimes does not work and neither does the ATM. It's a challenge if u don't have cash . So I advise you to carry cash if you paying at the venue.

Be ready for enchantment and magic as you enter into one of South Africa's oldest caves. Breathtaking beauty of well preserved ancient limestone rock formations. The tour is an hour long and the guides are incredibly knowledgeable and dedicated to the preservation of this much loved cave. Take the whole family to visit. This is an incredible experience. My tour group love it, and I absolutely loved it too. My first visit here was about 30 years ago and I'm so happy I was able to visit again. Loved it!!

Excellent tour around these spectacular Caves. We did the Adventurous Tour, and as we were the only two it was pretty much a private tour. The standard tour is not challenging whereas the Adventurous Tour certainly is. Not for the claustrophobic, unsupple, over-tall, or those of a large build - there are some tight squeezes. Restaurant, shop and plenty of car parking. Friendly and helpful guides and other personnel.

The caves have a historical and mystical vibe to it I really liked how the guide was super funny and informative

We did the adventure tour, it was something spectacular to see and do, what a great experience! Pre-Booking is essential! I didn't get a response on their email so I just phoned to make a booking. My two children of 8 and 12 did the adventure tour with us, they could do it, just needed a helping hand here and there to climb through the "Devil's Chimney" and the "Postbox". In the Reception area there's a box where you can climb through to see if you will fit through the narrow pieces in the cave, I recommend doing that before you buy tickets. Highly recommend visiting here, their restaurant has really delicious food and it's not expensive at all, would have been great if they had air-conditioning though but at least they had a fan.

A wonderful experience of this national heritage. The whole set up to the tour is excellent and efficient. I was highly impressed by the reception building and facilities they were clean and very well maintained. The caves are a true wonder and we were blown away by the history and the story of how they were discovered. Our guide was excellent. Funny and knowledgeable. I would suggest taking a bottle of water on the tour and due to COVID we were unable to book the Adventure tour which takes you through the much tighter and smaller chambers. Booking is essential if you want to get in and the tours leave every hour on the hour between 8-4pm.

Wow these caves are truly amazing. A combination of grand father time and nature in the form of little drops coming together to create something spectacular! The tour guide was fantastic and sang beautifully for us to hear the acoustics of the chambers.

I was simply in awe of the caves and the history thereof. Our tour guide Crystal was absolutely fantastic. She was very informative and extremely friendly. She even gave us the opportunity to warm up our vocals in the chamber. I hope that the next time we visit, we will be able to explore the adventure tour as well as the curio shop and restaurant. Nonetheless, what a fantastic place!

A wonderful experience. It is a pity that tourists broke off some of the formations in the cave. Luckily there is a bit more control at the moment. There used to be concerts in the cave, and people wandered around, breaking off formations to sell as souvenirs. They are doing everything they can to preserve these beautiful, unique caves. You can choose the leisurely hour tour or the more adventurous tour, where you have to crawl through very narrow spaces. It is a good idea to test if you will fit through the narrow spaces before you go on the tour. They've provided some wooden areas to try out before you go on your tour

Been to the caves twice now and appreciated the experience a lot more on my second visit as an adult. Beautiful and interesting to learn about their formation and it’s history. Not much else was available on our visit… no food court, gift shop or coffee areas as it was all under renovation. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable.

We visited very recently with my family the Cango Caves and we did the Adventure tour. We had a blast, the kids loved it. The adventure tour is not for the fainted-hearted. You get to slide through some really narrow passes and it gives you full experience of caving. Our guide was very knowledgeable and kind and made us feel at ease throughout the full tour. If you are not claustrophobic you should definitely try this out, highly recommended.

Loved it. Been there a few times many years back. Covid has required the groups be smaller and the tours to be shorter. But still great to see. Booking is essential. Tours are just on a hour.

Had an amazing experience here! Would have loved to do the adventure tour but it's currently closed due to covid. Our tour guide was friendly and was able to answer all the questions the group had. Would definitely recommend stopping by. Be sure to pop into the cinema to get some more info, many people mis this part of the experience

The tour guide was exceptionally knowledgeable. The caves and the formations are spectacularly beautiful. It is perhaps, too commercialised, but we still enjoyed it. People disobeying regulations including the wearing of masks and not touching formations was disappointing to witness.

imagine that this place is thousand of years old and quite still the same is just mind blowing. the tour was super good - especially the speaker did an awesome job. the only thing was that neither a restaurant or some place to have a drink was opened

A beautiful experience that everyone should have. I visited the Cango Caves on a Sunday afternoon. It was empty. I didn't mind as we had the entire place to ourselves. Our guide was absolutely fantastic in articulation and presentation of facts and answering questions. Currently, the adventure tour is not available, but once it opens, I am going back! Definitely an experience for the entire family.

The caves are magical. It is recognised as a heritage site and it was used by the first people way back when. The tour guide is very well informed and she made the tour fun. There are great photo opportunities. The adventure tour requires a reasonable fitness level and involves crawling, crouching, tight spaces and sliding.

A visit to the caves never disappoints… our guide was wonderful and peppered his information with humour. The tour of 1 hour was the perfect length for kids to enjoy, remain engaged and pay attention! Well worth the visit Just remember NOT to climb on the cave walls and bridal chamber ! They can be damaged !!!

Always such an awe-inspiring experience. Our guide was absolutely amazing. Absolutely a must see as you won't see anything like it anywhere else. Highly recommend the adventure tour if you are able.

This is a brilliant place to come and visit. The tour guide was really good and had a lot of information to tell us about. It's hard to put into words just how magical this place is to see in person. Definitely worth the trip here. I highly recommend!

We were slightly late to join our group, but we had a great experience with our guide. There are 4 sections inside the caves and huge stalagmites and stalactites all around the place. The lighting makes it look even more attractive. Our guide sang a local folklore at the end and it was great too. The drive was a light tough, it’s way on the outskirts. Recommend this to anyone who’s interested to check out something new and exciting

A nostalgic visit having last been there 35 years ago. We took our 14yr old son who LOVED his Adventure tour with guide Johnifer. We did the heritage tour and it was every bit as awesome as I can remember. We had too many centimetres put on over the years to do the adventure tour 🤭

Mesmerising Beauty! Must visit and not to be missed. Jaw Dropping Beauty! It's SA's oldest tourist attraction. They have guided tours. Hence, it's knowledgeable. Umbrellas aren't allowed inside. Carry torch if possible. Avoid using a camera while climbing steps in order to avoid falls. There are narrow steps inside caves that make the journey more adventurous. The guided tour is so well explained and tends to make us fall back in olden days. Temperatures inside are 18 to 19 degrees. Outside the cave is picturesque view not to be missed out. Special thanks to our Guide Carlin, who made it more interesting with facts and was very witty.

My partner and I visited the Cango Caves when travelling the Garden Route from Cape Town to Knysna. They are just on the outside of Oudtshoorn, and are easily found. The visitor centre is large, featuring a restaurant, café, shop, tourist information centre, and more. We visited mid-week out of the holidays, but it was still very busy, so our group was split into two. I would advise emailing and pre-booking in advance if you have a schedule to keep to. Once checked in, we waited for our tour to begin. You start off at the mouth of the cave, where the tour guides introduce themselves and the caves, explaining a brief history of how long they have been around, as well as health and safety. Once into the first chamber, you are kept in low light while the guide explains more about the caves and how they were formed. I have to say, our tour guide was absolutely fantastic, with the right balance of history, fact, and wit. She kept our entire group of 30+ entertained and informed throughout the 1-hour historic tour with great ease. Once she “gets the lights,” you are really hit with how awe-inspiring the place is – it’s truly magnificent. Formed over millions of years, the caves are vast and complex, with a variety of different chambers to explore. We saw stalactites and stalagmites of all shapes and sizes, some of them literally towering over us. It’s quite hard to comprehend how long it has taken for these caves to form – and how long they will be around for long after we’re gone. Even though it’s hard to pinpoint a highlight as the whole experience was incredible, the first chamber really does blow your mind when you see it in full light. The whole experience is truly magical and was one of the highlights of our two-week trip to South Africa. It’s something that will live with me for the rest of my life, and I would 100% recommend visiting the Cango Caves if in South Africa – it’s a MUST!

Such a awesome time, our guides were very personable funny and had an easy way of explaining the background history and was great with being interactive. Last been there more than 20 years ago and it felt so familiar and great to be back, the coffee shop was a great waiting space before our 2pm slot was starting

It'd been 15 yrs since the first time I've been to the Caves. It was as special this time bringing the kids. The guides were lovely and knowledgeable. Worth the drive and worth the experience.
