Slept over in this hut years ago as part of a school hike. I just love the trail running in this area. Especially coming from the old George Dam side. I ran up the route recently and the views were beautiful as always. Unfortunately got some mist right at the top, but that is George for you. Don't run or hike up there alone if you don't know the route. The weather can change fairly rapidly.

It's beautiful, peaceful and worth the walk. When you're reach Tierkop, there are two gates, one leads to the gorge and the other to the Garden Route Dam, as well as other hiking trails.

Easy hike, couple of hours. Not recommended for solo efforts.

Besides the beautiful view that one can enjoy from the top, if you have chance to hike there in November you will be amazed to walk through a large field of Watsonias. Just a bit higher King Proteas will make your hike unforgettable. Worth the effort of climbing about 700 meters total ascent!

A wonderful hike up into the Outeniqua Mountains from NMU Saasveld campus on the periphery of George. Indigenous forests, fynbos and superb views over the George region and Garden Route Dam.

This is one of the great achievement spots in the cycling and mountain trail running community as it is a tough and technical climb that gets the heart pumping.. once you reach the Tierkop hut you are rewarded with beautiful views and the knowledge that you were able to make it

A nice walk, steep in places but the road is in good condition. Fynbos is recovering from the fires. Take a jacket as the wind can come up and it cools down fast. 10,5 kms from Saasveld and return. Outeniqua mountains are magnificent.
