My
partner
and
I
made
the
mistake
of
booking
here,
thinking
that
it
was
still
a
4-star
hotel
as
advertised.
I've
stayed
in
3-star
hotels
locally
which
are
infinitely
better;
he
travels
internationally
to
third
world
South
East
Asian
countries
and
has
had
vastly
better
experiences
in
2-star
facilities
in
those
countries.
The
rooms
were
OK,
a
bit
shabby
but
we
accept
that
post-Covid,
maintenance
and
upkeep
tends
to
not
be
prioritised
due
to
budget
issues.
However,
the
staff
were
absolutely
abysmal,
from
the
dour,
unfriendly
receptionist
when
we
checked
in,
to
her
night-duty
replacement
who
seemed
to
only
be
interested
in
smoking
outside,
staring
at
his
cellphone
and
speaking
in
mono-syllables.
According
to
the
sign
at
reception,
the
restaurant
was
open
for
dinner
until
21h00;
the
menu
(in
the
room)
stated
it
was
open
until
20h30,
so
at
19h30
we
went
to
have
dinner....only
to
be
ignored
by
the
chef
who
came
out
to
clear
a
plate
from
another
table
next
to
us.
Were
we
invisible,
we
wondered?
On
enquiring
at
reception
at
19h43
whether
we
would
be
served,
my
partner
was
told
that
the
restaurant
closes
at
20h00.
Had
we
been
TOLD
that
on
check-in
an
hour
or
so
earlier,
we
would
have
gone
through
for
dinner
considerably
earlier
-
but
not
a
word
was
said.
On
hearing
that
we
would
leave
a
bad
review,
the
receptionist
went
to
the
kitchen
and
clearly
spoke
to
the
chef
as
she
bustled
out,
grabbed
menus
and
came
out
to
placate
us.
She
managed
to
diffuse
the
situation
as
by
this
stage
we
were
fuming
having
been
on
the
road
since
08h00
that
morning,
and
promised
to
make
us
dinner,
which
was
above
average.
She
did
save
the
day
by
making
us
laugh
and
assuring
us
that
we
would
definitely
not
go
to
bed
hungry,
but
the
point
is
that
it
should
never
have
come
to
that
in
the
first
place.
On
checking
out
the
next
day,
the
miserable
receptionist
from
our
check-in
was
back;
not
once
did
she
enquire
whether
we
enjoyed
our
stay,
if
everything
had
been
to
our
satisfaction
or
even
so
much
as
a
'hope
to
see
you
again'
-
barely
even
a
'good
morning'
was
uttered.
I
fully
appreciate
that
the
past
2
years
has
hit
tourism
very
hard,
that
it
has
affected
finances
which
in
turn
have
negatively
affected
tourism
facilities'
abilities
to
maintain
infrastructure
and
keep
on
sufficient
staff
-
THAT
can
be
explained
away
by
the
impact
of
the
pandemic.
But
you
can't
blame
apathy,
unfriendliness
and
an
unwelcoming
attitude
on
that,
and
we
experienced
abysmal
service
in
bucket
loads.
We
will
not
be
back.
