The pros of Wetherspoons are consistent: low-price reliable drinks and food - hence an automatic three star minimum. So in most cases the only real differential is the location and how much character it has… in the case of Hackney that is limited. On the plus side, it is a large Wetherspoons, so getting a table should not be too difficult, and there are two outdoor spaces: a courtyard just inside one of the entrances and a “garden” patio upstairs. The staff were a mixture of enthusiastic/eager to please and robotically tired of a thankless task. Fingers crossed you get here the former. But as usual, if you are looking for a cheap pint or meal in unfussy surroundings, you can’t go wrong here. If you found my review or photos useful, please leave a thumbs up 👍 Thanks!

Maybe not the best looking spoons from the outside, pleasant enough when your inside. Busy Monday night, the pub is on two floors with a terrace on the 1st floor. Had to ask for a table wipe but was done straight away, staff were busy. Food came out quickly and was of a good standard, bonus for the seasoning on the stake. Enjoyable Called in Wednesday night for dinner, had the three basket chicken sharer, had to wait 40 minutes for our spicy chicken wings, chicken strips and chicken bites. Poor ladies were rushed off their feet, could see they were under pressure so didn’t complain. Went on a quite Thursday morning for breakfast very fast service and food was fine, egg maybe just a little dry

The first impression is when you walk in that is warm and nice, but..... As you already walked in you can see dirty plates all around the tables! One of my mates ordered an Imperial Burger so there was only 1 small slice of onion inside, sauces were empty, no all day menus only the breakfast one, and 3 of my mates complained about the same staff behind the bar that was quite rude, chips were cold in chicken burger, no smoking area only outside on the street! Btw. Our table wasn’t cleared for 1H!

I was enjoying being here. Food good and drinks at bargain prices. Then I went to buy a drink, and the guy wouldn't accept my 10p piece. Turns out it was an American dime. It could only have come from there on a previous round, as I only went out with notes, not coins. The manager eventually accepted it, but the staff were no longer friendly. I know it was only 10 pence, but the barman point blank refused to admit it had come from the till, and I was just as adamant that I never came out with. Maybe I'll pay on a credit card next time, and let them have to give a percentage to visa, no matter how small.

Cheap drinks great staff. One really polite girl in particular from Congo. Found me seats and told me if I need anything to call her and she kept her word sorry for my group getting too drunk. 😂🙏

Loaded chips was like microwaved, really soggy- even the bacon. All the tables was quite dirty, one of the most dirtier Wetherspoon I ever been. Waiters gave us only one fork even she noticed that we were two people and was unbothered to bring another one. Beers ok Mainly elderly drunk people there

01/11/2022 19:15pm The supervisor working the upstairs bar is trash Human Being. Five people stood there waiting for 5 minutes as the bar was unattended. I finally went outside where he was smoking a cigarette and kindly asked, is this var still open or do we all need to order downstairs?...to which he rudely replied, as he held up his cig, "wait till I finish this". Zero customer service or general human decency. First and last time here.

Outstanding staff, consistently polite, helpful and positive. I saw a lot of kind interaction with older people from the largely young staff. Service is quick and efficient. Overall I would say this is a friendly, welcoming establishment that has improved immensely over the last 3 or 4 years. Happy staff give the place an excellent vibe - definitely worth a visit!

Great deals on food and booze. Real ale, usually good quality. Has to be 5 stars for the bargains on offer and location.

Quick drinks around lunchtime. Not busy but still noisy. Typical Spoons "clientele ". But clean, good service and low prices.

Not my favourite pub but the beer was good and very inexpensive. Food looked good, typical wetherspoins fare. Very busy but the staff were coping well.

This pub was noisy and we found it difficult to hear each other. The food mediocre and lukewarm. The tables weren't cleaned and we had to ask for it to be cleaned. My local pub was so much better with a calmer atmosphere. However, they do have a nice outdoor seating area to enjoy the sun away from traffic unlike my local.

Busy so better to sit upstairs, food standard for a wetherspoons, service very good. Would go back as no issues with the place at all.

This is a Wetherspoons pub the only thing that lets it down is lack of staff and atmosphere is just what it is in the Witherspoon's no music just talking

Worst place I can ever come while I’m on holidays in London. Tom the manager avoided listening that I have payed online to the table number and refused to even look through my order.! I had to wait long to not even been looked after. Last time I’m coming here

Good selection of beer, nice and convenient location, friendly serving staff........ and below average food.

My local, improved slightly with some new staff who seem to have been trained how to pour draught beer. Keep it up Spoons, you will save money from all the waste. Well done.

Undercooked raw egg in breakfast and complaint handled badly by rude bar (lady). Popped into Baxters Court Hackney Branch ordered a egg and bacon muffin, egg albumen was raw and dripping from the muffin, when this was pointed out to the rude bar lady she replied with a bad attitude "did you ask for it to be well done" to which I replied I asked for what was stated on the menu. Now call me dumb but surely if you order an egg it should be cooked through at the very least and not put you at risk of getting salmonella. Awful experience and not even an apology.

Been coming here since a teen and the place (& mens toilets!) is definitely in need of some renovations/refurbishments. However, I'm leaving 5 stars as our most recent weekend visit was amazing thanks to Keisha's (I hope i have her name right) hospitality! She was very attentive to our table on top of rushing around dealing with the bar/upstairs by herself. There was also a guy rushing around serving who didn't serve us personally but we could see they were both hard workers. They kept the food/drink orders out in a timely manner on top of clearing tables/empty glasses. Hope management know that you are great at your job and thank you for helping us celebrate my aunts birthday. Great staff are what helps a bar/restaurant thrive and know that our group really appreciated your customer service!

It's a Wetherspoons. The staff are friendly, is generally safe and quiet. The drinks are cheap and the food is fresh from the microwave for the most part. It's a good location with a lot of seating. There are far worse places to spend a few hours with friends in Hackney.

I like it here as it has a real community feel. Can be a little noisy at times, so we often sit upstairs as it's a quieter but this section closes at 10pm and you have to leave the area and retreat downstairs. Lovely friendly staff and of course good value for money and if your looking to for a casual hangout or fun with your mates, this is the place.

Very good pub. Always a decent atmosphere. Lovely people from door staff to bar staff and regulars are also very friendly. Service is always very quick. Tom the bar man is fantastic in particular, very helpful and quick to serve. Always a friendly attitude and fast service.

The longest I've ever had to wait to be served! I was 3rd in the queue and stood there for 20 minutes before being served. There was an obvious lack of staff, with only 1 visibly distressed bar person serving a packed out pub. The other bar person was going around the pub chatting to people and collecting glasses the whole time when it was so obvious he was needed behind the bar. Even the security guard came in to see what was going on because the queue ended up looking like a very large mob of people. We were really disappointed which is a shame because it seemed like a decent place with a good atmosphere. There was just no service and zero friendliness, politeness, or professionalism from the bar staff.

Good old weatherspoon, value for money and good service. Only had breakfast here and it was on the cold side 3 days in a row,so please a little warmer in future. The gents toilets are in need of a make over too, otherwise would have been 4 star

I really struggle to give it 1 star. I went in there on Saturday 11/12/21 and manager tried to fiddle me. She overcharged me for a mixer for a whisky (I didn’t want or have) and when challenged asked me if I supported ‘Black lives Matter’… When I replied ‘no’ was told I was barred…. Watch out for her guys…. Still have receipt with date and time on!!!

One of the biggest Wetherspoon in the city. Service is fast prices are more than reasonable with a good selection of beers.

I usually love Wetherspoons and of course you get the same great value as any of their other outlets, but the customer service really is shocking. The staff need a holiday or a pay rise because they are seriously miserable. Every time is the same

Order drinks through the app, one of two drinks didn't show up for 30 mins so went to the bar for it, second drink appeared an hour later but we were allowed to keep it for free. Better of going straight to the bar for any drinks, however during busy times it's painful.

A classic wetherspoons bar in Hackney. It was crowded on a Friday night but you can find tables thanks to 2 floors. I can't say it was clean and tidy as it was crowded. The service was fast, we ordered drinks through app.

It's a Wetherspoons, so you pretty much know what you'll get. Great prices and a big pub. This is a great one for people watching. It makes other wetherspoons look upmarket. I love it.

My favourite place to come and I live 30 miles away. Didn't give it 5 because I arrived with my 18 year old and 15 year old at 8pm and was told to get out by 9pm at the enterance and that other security will be watching us while we eat. Not a nice welcome at all and felt uncomfortable and rushed, I'm their mum and we only wanted to eat not get drunk.

Love going to Baxter's Court. They are so busy and the staff are great. Unfortunately they seem to never have enough staff. The staff are doing a great job but are so rushed off their feet. Please be kind to the staff and be considerate and patient.

Vibrant, busy cosmopolitan feel! Excellent, young staff, busy on all floors. Everything you require in food and drinks. Affordable budget easy location in the heart of Mare Street. Lots of local shops it is fabulous environment. All government guidelines are still in place therefore please keep up your hygiene and maintenance of a good healthy out look towards life. As we are still in a season of confusion...lol Do be aware of your own safety in every environment. Live, laugh and enjoy...Go check it out @@@@!!!!

Really comfortable little oasis with a balcony area upstairs with covered seating and heating in the cold. The food was prompt and hot, the staff polite, friendly and non intrusive. I've only given it 4 stars because it's standard Weatherspoons food, nothing too exciting, but other than that it's a lovely little bar just right for my work day lunch.

I visited this place between 7pm and 8pm on Feb 8th while in England. Unfortunately the 2 young ladies working that night were so unfriendly and reluctant to serve our small group of 3 that they bordered on hostility. One of them grabbed her handbag, got herself a meal and began eating, leaving us to wait several minutes for her coworker, while watching her devour her dinner at a table close to ours. The other disappeared in the back for exactly 8 minutes after I had to politely ask her to wipe the table that we had decided to sit at. I was confused I'd never experienced anything like that before, especially since there were only 2 other customers in there besides ourselves. It was not busy! The food when it finally arrived was not too bad. It was typical pub food that can be enjoyed with a few alcoholic beverages. I wouldn't totally rule it out for others to try. Good luck! Unfortunately I will not be revisiting this place.

15 police officers there when we arrived thanks to a rowdy group kicking off at the staff. Crowded, messy tables, slow service, bloke smoking in the corner, toilets a half-mile walk from the bar. 10/10 classic wetherspoons experience, would recommend.
