My partner and I ate here on New Year's eve but did not stay so this review is for the restaurant only. The service was excellent - very friendly and attentive. The food was well prepared and presented.

Wonderful food with great service lots of parking available and joined to a loyalty scheme for the extra treat every now and then. Highly recommend and you won’t be disappointed.

Food was ok although expensive. The service was really slow even though it was a quiet lunch time. When I went to pay they automatically took the 10% service charge and pushed the card machine up to my card while I was still questioning the total amount. When I said I wouldn't pay the supposedly voluntary service charge I was told they couldn't refund me after taking payment. A payment I forced to make when I wasn't ready! Not impressed. That felt like a compulsory service charge to me.

We have been enjoying the Red Lion for quite a while, but it has got so much better! Daniel and the team are fantastic hosts. It’s clean, tidy, staff are very attentive & friendly. Nothing is to much, it is always service with a smile. Special mention to Daniel who is so welcoming and friendly. He has also created a BRAND NEW COCKTAIL that is delicious, refined and moreish! Ask at the bar

Met for lunch on Tuesday with my family and were very disappointed. No steaks and other menu items available. Service poor. Food was not great and significantly overpriced. (200ml Diet Coke £2.60)

Boxing Day lunch for 5 of us. I was the only one to have a starter. Prawn cocktail.....hmmm they put a hot tasting condiment on it which I did not appreciate. We then waited the best part of an hour for the main course!! I also had a hot chocolate which was fine. I ordered roast pork ,potatoes and vegetables and Yorkshire pudding were again fine infact good BUT the so called pork consisted of thin dry overcooked round slices ,no fat, which would have made good beer mats.Dreadful!! Someone else in our group had fish cakes which had far too much dil in them and also were dry and very poor. Also when I asked for another knife and fork because one was dirty I received no apology from the woman. The young girl who served us was very pleasant and cheerie but quite inexperienced. This place is certainly not cheap but overall poor. If I had been on my own I would have sent the so called pork back. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY There are way better places to dine!! Needless to say none of us ordered a dessert!!

Walked up at lunchtime on Mother's Day so wasn't expecting a table or to be able to order lunch but was able to do both. Staff were obviously busy but slotted me in and I ended up having a delicious smoked celeriac roast which I didn't realise was a vegetarian option but was so good I would order it again! Not my first time eating here and won't be my last.

Best burger ever. It is a bit more pricey than the average, but the food really is top quality. Highly recommended for the cozy atmosphere as well.

Pleasant meal and good service on a Saturday evening but at 9.30pm when our dessert plates were cleared, we were told that there was no coffee as they had closed and cleaned the coffee machine. It was a shame as we left feeling disappointed.

Let me start with the good things: lovely staff doing their best to make customers happy, lovely room with comfy bed and towels. But…. Quite a few things that would need to be fixed to get a higher score; food wise, if you charge 15.95 for a burger, make sure it is really amazing and not an over cooked meatball on a stale bun with some sad salad leaves and tasteless tomato. Make sure you serve a breakfast that includes at least some eggs, even hard boiled. And refill a juice carafe once it is emptied. And here is a tip for those of you booking a room at this place; do not get a room in the front as the road is really busy and noisy and they have a very liberal policy when it comes yo kicking customers out after closing time which means they’ll sit below your room window with their drinks for quite some time making it impossible to sleep….

Great pub, much better service than the Bel and dragon. Food was a high standard both the burger and steak were great. Nice tables and booths providing for both a romantic dinner or a drinking session with friends.

We stayed here for one night, nice little place. The food was nice, the service was good. The rooms were presented well but we were slightly disappointed with the cleanliness as we found quite a lot of dust in our room.

Visited with family and enjoyed an excellent meal. It was not overly fussy or pretentious but the food I had (smoked haddock then wild boar sausages) was really good with nice choices of wine and beer. You'll need to book and leave contact details, but the staff are warm and helpfully professional. I would thoroughly recommend it.

The only thing that lets this place down is the food, the staff are so friendly and helpful. The sandwiches are overpriced, £8.75 for a cheese and chutney sandwich , it doesn't even come with chips or crisps! It wasn't a deep filled luxury sandwich either!

Food was a mixed bag. Some was OK but the roast was particularly over priced given the portion and very bog-standard trimmings.

Nice food, poor customer service. Reserved a table for 2 just after midday. Arrived a few minutes late and was told that I had choice of 2 tables, 1 of which had just become available. Both tables were tucked away squeezed into corners, but that's cosy right? Went to order food to be told that the menu advertised on the website isn't available in Novemner and December as they start to get busy for Christmas so stop their deals. No big problem, we ordered a main with a view to order a dessert later. The mains came and they were good value for money and very tasty, the waitress asked if we would like a dessert menu to which we replied yes and she promptly brought us one. At this point most of the tables had emptied and there weren't many people left eating. 35 minutes later she returned to ask if we would like to order a dessert which we declined as had other plans arranged. This drew a huff from the waitress who seemed genuinely annoyed that we had declined and asked for the bill instead. Overall a very disappointing experience that I don't plan on repeating.

I am very grateful to the staff of this hotel. My car blew out here at night and stayed here for one night. I thought I could take a taxi to the tire shop and the tire shop would go and change my tires. The hotel staff told me that I needed to find a mobile tire service, not tire shop. Due to my poor English, the staff helped me to book a mobile tire service on the phone. He is so enthusiastic and helpful. I am really grateful for what he have done for me. In addition, the room was clean and tidy and the double bed was very big and very comfortable.

Proper old English hotel & pub in the middle of the village.Ideally located with good parking and excellent breakfasts. Service was impeccable.

We were in a rush so didn't complain on the day, but both the full English and vegetarian breakfast felt like they'd been warmed up several times before service. Nothing on the plate looked freshly cooked.

After visiting the Basingstoke Canal at Odiham my husband and I were looking for somewhere to eat, we decided on The Red Lion, the food was very good, but also I'd like to mention the pleasant gentleman that seated and served us, he was quite exemplary, what skills, the manner in which he looked after us and other customers too, was absolutely spot on. Happy customers.

Great food and great service. Highly recommended if you're in the area. Another great meal out at the Red Lion, the staff are incredibly friendly and so welcoming.

The pub is lovely and the food was good. However, most of the dishes are about £3 overpriced comparative to equally as nice other pubs in the area. This can make a considerable difference if a few are eating.

We walked in on a busy ish evening. We weren't fussed if we couldn't get a seat but they let us order food then figure out a seat which mean we were waiting at the bar for a while. The food took a while to come out especially considering they were just burgers. Had to get up and ask where they were. The staff were friendly though just rushed off their feet a bit.

The food and service here was great. We booked in advance and they were ready for us as soon as we arrived. The food and drinks both came very quickly, they tasted great. We weren’t there very long but everything was brilliant.

Decent food and a couple of local beers which hit the spot. Not cheap food or particularly large portions, or not great value in other words. Still, we enjoyed it and would return if passing through.

The food was delicious and each menu item had great flavour. The presentation was lovely and the atmosphere of the pub itself was cosy and welcoming. Lovely service and would come back again!

A friend and I had lunch last Friday and chose the soup of the day which we were told was leek and potato, we were warned it was very peppery. Sorry to say it was extremely peppery and did not taste of leeks or potato, just green hot liquid. I did mention my concerns and was told they would be passed on but never had any feedback.
