I pre-booked a table for 5 at 12:45pm for the Sunday roast. I arrived at 12:20 and was pointed to my table only to find it was for another party at 13:45. I was then shown to "my" table after a group were asked to move. When the rest of my party arrived we all decided on the roast beef. My friend went to the bar to ordered. The first roast arrived promptly and I started to eat. After a few minutes my friend asked where the other 4 dinners were and was told they had only put one through. We were then told they now only had enough beef for two more dinners so now two of our party had to have chicken. Can someone please explain who you are out of beef for Sunday roast by 1pm? Gradually the rest of the food arrived. All of the food came on plates that were at best lukewarm but closer to cold. The food was all piled on top of itself so the roast potatoes were a soggy mess under a mountain of cabbage with poorly roasted carrots with gravy already poured over the whole mess. The only slight redeeming quality was that the beef wasn't over cooked, though was very fatty. My friend then ordered more drinks - but again this was a fun experience as he had to order twice because they again "only put one through". In total our group spent over Β£200 for which we received some of the most inattentive service I've ever had and probably the worst roast I've ever had in a pub. At no point were we offered any money off the bill for the shambolic nature of our time there.

Quite popular place, with people everywhere out on the street, yet managed to find a table upstairs. Ordered online and our drinks were brought to us in two minutes and food soon after. Wonderful evening!

I've not been here before and I was pleasantly surprised at the attentive service. Especially from Sophie who was absolutely amazing and professional. Made us feel at home even though it was really busy at times. Thank you so much Sophie and Team Castle Farringdon. I will definitely be coming back in the future.

This would be quite a good place except... - 0 vegan options, and most dishes unavailable - Difference in what was available on the app vs. what was actually available when asking - There were mice on pub floor - A staff member stepped on a mouse, crushing it, which kind of killed our mood Service and staff were friendly and nice otherwise, but won't be returning sorry. overall really poor experience.

Visited the castle for the first time, a great little pub, popular with locals. There is a great atmosphere and despite being busy service was very quick. We opted to sit upstairs and it was a little quieter, which was nice. The decor is really well thought out and tastefully done, the upholstery is really sumptuous in nice velvets. We enjoyed a few drinks and then the nachos and my goodness were we surprised when they arrived to our table, home made nachos and topped with everything you could hope for! The chillis added that kick of heat and the sour cream to cool the palate afterwards. A delightful sharing plate. Superb location right outside Farringdon station. Look forward to returning with friends again soon.

Nice pub, good drink. But I find it a shame to be forced to order and pay for your food by scanning a code. The person behind the bar didn't seem to want to do "old school". It loses its original charm.

Nice pub at lovely location. So convenient to have a drink if waiting for train. Staff is cool and helpful. Lovely atmosphere and nice vibes. Variety of drinks in cask & keg. Very busy between 17:00 to 19:00 after office time so be careful ❗️

Decent place to pop in for a pint conveniently located next to Farringdon station. Nice atmosphere inside. This pub is in the Good Beer Guide and the couple of ales I had were in good condition. Service was efficient. Didn't try the food.

We've been coming to the Pub Quiz on a Tuesday for nearly a year now. Its in the upstairs area which is a little quieter and has it's own small bar which opens during the quiz. Staff are always lovely and the quiz is great fun!

Loved the vibe of the place, very cozy and festive. We ordered hallumi fries which we absolutely loved and nachos. The nachos were a little different from what we ususly get in other places, these were not store bought and the portion was huge. Would love to go back again.

Second time of booking for a walking group meal. Pub was responsive and helpful, even with late changes for numbers. Food ordered in advance was delivered to our tables efficiently and on time. Enjoyable meals had by all in a pub with an interesting history. Well situated in the heart of Farringdon and a stone's throw from the underground. Would book here again

Popped in for food and a drink with friends. Two couples .. did separate orders. Ordered drinks .. then ordered food. Food arrived for couple no.1. Quick!* After 10 to 15 minutes, drinks arrived for couple no.2. Gin first then a few minutes later, the tonic. Another 5 minutes later, food arrived for couple no.2. *After more than 40 minutes, drinks for couple no.1 still hadn't arrived! And it really was not busy. Staff friendly. Food good. Service poor/shocking!

Good food and beer. Hospitality is average, depending on who you get as a waiter. The location is super convenient, and near the fun are of SOHO.

We had our Christmas meal at The Castle and I can’t recommend it highly enough. The food was delicious, service was great and all really reasonably priced. Thank you!

Beautiful pub. Downstairs is usually busy, but if you go upstairs you will probably find a seat and is quieter.

πŸš‡ Farringdon 🍺 Β£5.40 Meantime Lager ❀️ Handsome looking boozer just opposite Farringdon station. This pub has two floors with predominantly dining upstairs and the busier bar on the ground floor. I have visited this pub a couple of times and the pub gets very busy for after work drinks and during the day it’s a more chilled and relaxed environment. The decor is contemporary with exposed brickwork, big mirrors and traditional pictures adorning the walls. . All said and done this pub is a good allrounder and definitely worth a pit stop if you are in the area. . πŸ“Š Information correct on visiting 16/01/18

Very good pub for meeting a colleague. Even managed a couple of cups of mint tea on my day off drinking :) (rest assured there's good alcoholic options too)

Great pub. Good atmosphere. Staff are great . Give them the respect they deserve and they will treat you correctly. Prices are not the cheapest and it can be loud when it is busy but still a great pub when you have space to sit or move around. Highly recommended

Used to be a good boozer. The front lady or the manager is the stroppiest, moodiest person you could wish to meet. So rude. Unaccomadating. Bar staff were sound though.

Attractive pub with good features inside and right next to Farringdon Ststion so it's great for a pre-commute pint. I visited on a Saturday and it filled up with football fans so worth picking your time.

I visited the Castle to meet a former work colleague. It was quiet for a Friday evening and we easily found a table. Their guest beer was a Northern Monk beer and very good. The only real disappointment was the cheesy chips, which didn't have enough cheese or gravy

I like the Castle, always have. Unpretentious, good choice of beers, handy for tube station and national rail. I'd go more often, but I don't work nearby anymore.

Having worked in Cowcross Street for a year back in '97, I seem to find myself popping by the area quite often and probably for no other reason but nostalgia. I worked and stayed in a disused building (Sabian House) only a few yards away. However, then, and in the years since, I never bothered to stop off in this pub for a drink. Based on my experience today, I wish I had made the effort. This is a great pub opposite Farringdon stations which serves a great selection of real ales and other lagers. Fortunately for me, the ales on this visit were from my locality in Suffolk. Didn't have time to try the food, but experience tells me most establishments near rail stations are better than those in rail stations. This pub also has the unique accolade of being the only one in London (I understand) that can also trade as a pawn brokers. Not sure if anyone actually utilises that feature these days, though.

A lovely vibrant Farringdon pub with great beer server by happy, helpful staff. Not a lot of Cask on offer today but it looks like up to four are normally battling it out. A fun place with much chatter and smiling faces. Certainly worth a visit.

I booked an area of the upstairs room for a birthday celebration last Friday evening. From the moment I visited to the event itself, everyone was extremely friendly and helpful. The service was excellent, as was the food (I should mention that I had a smaller birthday celebration here three years ago and that impressed me too - hence my return!). The night was a great success and the Castle and staff played a major part in that.

Great pint of Guinness. Not the extra cold that’s usually forced on us, just a nice cold pint. Lovely. Guiness is NOT a larger. Who would dream of drinking an extra cold real ale? Lovely friendly, efficient staff. Definitely recommend. Will be back.

We had our postponed (due to Covid restrictions) team Xmas lunch here yesterday, and The Castle were fantastic, both regarding the original booking, and then with all the faff around having to reschedule. We were able to stick with the original festive menu - which was delicious. And we ended up in our own room upstairs, complete with festive table decorations - which was a lovely extra touch! We all had a lovely afternoon / evening, so thanks again to The Castle for great communication, excellent food and great service.

Great local drinking spot to work with an awesome selection of frothy goodness. Food is not too bad, great portion size. Typically pricey as so central, so if you’re after a session maybe a bit on £££ side.

Decent selection on tab, reasonably busy downstairs but nice and empty on the first floor. It has an upstairs bar as well but not manned at the time but of my visits. Decor historical but a little tired, typical old pub which with a little work could be beautiful.

The hub for all corporates to get together for a beer / drink post work hours. Always crowded sply when the sun is out. Not the best but decent place for few drinks with colleagues.
