Great little pub! But, given its size, not great at peak times. Dark and atmospheric - a “proper pub” - but it won’t be everyone’s taste. Small downstairs bar with round tables and barrels - more seating upstairs. Apparently new management - I found them to be friendly and attentive. More ales than craft beers - but to be expected, given the limitations of the bar’s size. Very good wine list and the Portuguese house wine (both red and white) is very decent!

Oh, where do I even begin to describe the wonderful experience I had at this tiny British pub?! First of all, let me just say that it's small, but don't let that deter you, because this pub packs a mighty punch when it comes to character and charm. We walked in on a Friday night after just flying in from Australia and we were hit with a wave of Britishness that almost knocked me off my feet. From the wooden bar stools to the cozy fireplace, everything about this place screams "God Save the Queen!" But the best part was definitely the local professionals who had all gathered to end the week. The beer selection was good. They had a variety of brews on tap. After such a long day it was like drinking liquid gold, if liquid gold tasted like a refreshing ale. Now, I will say that the pub's size did make for some interesting social interactions. My partner ended up helping one of the work groups carry out a chap who had clearly had a great time that afternoon! But honestly, those quirks just added to the overall charm of the place. It's like a cozy little cocoon where you can escape from the outside world and just enjoy some good beer and good company. So if you're ever in the area, do yourself a favor and stop by this pint-sized pub. You won't regret it!

Always liked this place, however on a recent visit, when my diabetic friend suffered a hypo, the bar lady accused him of being "on drugs" and threw us all out like we were Keith Moon and Rod Stewart. Staff accused us of being disrespectful and threatening, which wasn't the case at all. We also left of our own accord, albeit with some random jabbing me in the back as I left, for no good reason.

Popped in for a quick drink. A proper little pub, oozing history and London charm, great friendly service. Will hunt out again, now I know it's there!

Nice little pub but lazy staff too busy chatting to service customers.

Great little pub off the usual tourist track. Popular with locals and week day customers. A proper pub and all the better for it. Don't think it opens weekends Sat/Sun as it's in the city and not on tourist track. Recommended.

Nice pub near to Tower Hill, but absolutely useless if you have a disability and need to go to the gents! I have a disability and I'm not great with stairs at all. The mens loos look like they are through a door under the stairs where normally your electric meter would be hiding! Not here though! You have to go down a torturous narrow stone spiral staircase holding onto a central bar of the staircase going up or down. There is a handrail but it's too close to the wall to grip properly. You literally take your life into your hands going to the lavatory! A few people actually fell down the stairs when I was there. Not a good experience at all considering it's a pub and people will be drinking. The potential of a serious accident happening is extremely high. Apart from that, it's obviously a very old pub and has a charm of its own, with a large collection of Royal Navy sailors caps hanging on the wooden beams, it certainly has its nautical theme. But avoid at all costs if you are not too clever going up and down stairs!

A great stop for a predinner drink! Buzzy and loads of city workers on a weeknight. Standard London prices.

Giving the Ship 5 stars purely for nostalgic reasons! I havent been in there for nearly 31 years, but when Jardines moved to Crutched Friars in the late 80s it became the regular lunchtime pub with my dear colleagues John & Barbara. In those days it was a Wm Youngers House and we loved the Scottish Ales and cozy atmosphere. Being so small inside, it was our pub just for the 3 of us, although we occasionally entertained Underwriters from CIGNA or General Accident there. I even had my pre wedding drink-up in the upstairs room in May 92. Thankyou The Ship, Hart St, I will never forget you!❤️

Awful karaoke ruined the atmosphere. Far too loud, had to shout at the top of our voices to hear each other. The racket followed us down the street, you could hear it echo off the surrounding buildings.

What a fantastic boozer! The beer was superb, the ambience absolutely spot on. I'm not normally a naval man but here it's definitely hello sailor. Get there landlubbers.

Great bar minders and a small cache if authenticity in the midst of high rises. Slower at the start of the week, but worthy of a pint nonetheless.

What a hidden gem! I hired The Ship for my 40th birthday celebrations and had a truly memorable day! Highly recommend if you're looking for a central London location to have a private party. Amber and her team were so welcoming, couldn't ask for more! Thanks so much!

This is an excellent pub, there is a very friendly atmosphere throughout staff and customers. The bar staff are polite and friendly. I did not eat here but the beer is clearly well looked after. This pub also allows dogs, we sat upstairs which was a bit quieter than downstairs. Thanks for a great pub experience

Wonderful to see the pub busy. Lovely beer, both cask and keg. Lovely staff. The Ship, a pub with a definite nautical theme demands another visit. There must be pirates living here, arr Jim lad! A lovely decorative room upstairs complete with both club and wing chairs. Pop in and add to to the charm of the pub. You will enjoy!

Rude owner and staff. Don't ever come here. The pub was empty and nobody was around. I wasn't even allowed to use the toilet. Rubbish service!

Nice pub. My time out option from the office. Staff pleasant enough. Felt more welcoming when I knew the manager (a family friend)

Great city pub, I will definitely be adding it to my city pub crawl. Atmosphere was great with the staff being very nice and bubbly which really made the night. The drinks selection was huge, I’m a gin girl and there were gins I had never seen before. Had a peak at the upstairs bar on my way to the loo, great place to hold a work event.
