The students are back!!! They bring noise, energy and laughter not to mention the hilarious effort they put into their themed outfits. It's great to have them back. The pub lays on entertainment and activities most nights of the week and I've noticed they've also refreshed the menu which offers something for all tastes and pallets. Unfortunately the loyalty points scheme is now over but there are alternative options for the students. The selection of guest beers and ales offer a fantastic choice to work through. You are also invited to try before you buy to ensure you're satisfied with your purchase. The Cocktails deals are very popular too. The beer garden is cosy, well lit at night and is also screened off from the busy main road. Outdoor heating and a big screen TV adds to the home from home atmosphere. The staff work extremely hard at serving and managing the heaving crowds throughout the week and often spend their days off mixing with the Punters, which is a testament to the fun and vibrant venue we all enjoy. Just as fun as ever. I received the usual great service from friendly and welcoming staff on wing Wednesday and enjoyed a nice pint of Doom Bar as well.

Not a bad place to watch the football, but you'd be doing yourself a favour to eat before coming. The burger was so dry and so tasteless, it felt deliberate. A burger so shamelessly barren has to be seen to be believed (see photos).

The staff were rude and sarcastic, while bringing our food out, caught the bar man putting hands into our food & eating our chips. Had an argument to get our money back. I definitely wouldn't eat there again. However door man was really nice and went out of his way to make you feel comfortable.

Bottomless brunch is 25pp which is really good value for money. There was a big group of us and we were often asked it we wanted another refill of cocktails which is great. Good service over all, would come again.

I went to this pub with a few friends on a Friday evening. I ordered food through their app but I was told that the kitchen was closed so the money would be refunded within a few days, which isn't a huge problem really. But the money wasn't refunded. Being a student, I had to chase it up, regardless of how small the amount was. So I decided to give them a nudge along with an email and I was told it would take up to 28 days, which is again understandable. It has now been over 30 days and I still have no refund. It seems they are perfectly content to keep my money and not provide me with what I ordered. If the kitchen was closed, then they should prevent orders coming through, rather than doing this dodgy business. I am honestly quite disappointed because the pub seemed rather nice when I went, but I don't like worrying about being scammed on a night out.

Went to the pub in the evening- meanwhile the bouncer on the door wouldn’t let us in unless we had student ID’s- eventually we got in even though we had valid ID (drivers liscences)! Once we were in one of the bouncers was acting very unprofessionally and was hanging around my girlfriend and her friends making them feel uncomfortable- I went up to see what the issue was and then was pressured to leave- the bouncer clearly thinks he works for MI5 or something!!

Great Pub!!! If you like sports this the pub for you. They show all the Premier league football, the Boxing, Cricket and much more. They also have a great beer selection that changes frequently so their craft ales and ciders never become boring. If you're in oxford you should definitely check it out!

Fantastic service, really friendly, and were showing both rugby and football games. We booked for the bottomless brunch. Excellent value for money, and it included a choice of beers, prosecco, gin and basic cocktails for 2hrs for £25. That aside, the prices for drinks and food were really reasonable outside the brunch deal. Nice outside terris area.

Had the bottomless brunch at 1pm on a Saturday. Was great service and had our fill of drinks in the 2 hour window. The server man was very attentive and even gave us the option of having a bottle of fizz to end the experience! Live in Reading but will 100% come back to the city arms for another. The price and quality was brilliant Live music aswell if you go on a Saturday! Happy bonus

A pub that has capitalised on a specific target market, they know what they do and they do it well (sports bar). It's great to see craft beers making an appearance. Would love to see it get a deep clean, everything just feels a little bit grotty. Great old building in a great location.

Best pub in Oxford? It’s definitely up there! Such a friendly atmosphere with immaculate vibes all round! Great selection of beers and cocktails awesome food and super friendly staff! Have to give a mention to the legend that is whitey! Awesome manager and always happy to go the extra mile.

Me and my boyfriend booked for bottomless brunch and it was amazing. The food was very tasty and Dylan was super attentive and we had drink after drink, we definitely made the most of our time! Would definitely recommend coming to the City Arms for bottomless brunch.

Tommy and Nate were amazing with my bottomless brunch. They kept the drinks flowing and were so kind with their service. I’ve never had this level of service before where the bartenders were so busy yet always came up to check how we were and if we wanted anymore drinks. 10/10 would recommend. Exceptional service.

Feels like a student sports bar with pizzas and burgers as standard food. A bit pricey for the kind of place it is. Good amount of TVs inside and out for sports. The reason for giving it 2 stars is that the staff is quite rude and not welcoming. Feels like they're going through the motions rather than trying to create a welcoming free feel. Also, they got our order wrong 3 times and argued with us about rather than fixing it - we are vegetarian, so definitely didn't order the chicken wings... Won't be going back.

Whitey, Lewis and Caitlin were amazing. Drinks came fast and made sure as soon as we were empty the next drink was ready. They were very friendly and even when we were specific with food they didn’t care. They were all incredibly welcoming and we will be returning more than once! Perfect service, great drinks and tasty food!

Staff were kind and friendly. Caitlin, Tom and Henry were very attentive taking my food order especially as I have food allergies. The food came promptly and was delicious! Totally recommend!

I had the melt burger which was delicious. The cocktails are fantastic. I would highly recommend the raspberry cooler and the tiki sunrise. The service was great and as soon as you’d ran out of drink you could get another. Would highly recommend

Decent student pub but nothing to write home about. Drinks were quite cheap, and they have most spirits. However, the food was a disappointment. Took ages to arrive and half of it was cold. Nice atmosphere but the music can be a bit overbearing at times and you have to shout across the table.

My absolute favourite pub to visit! The staff are incredible, perfect venue for any sports event or just a casual drink to see some friends. Great pub all round 💯

Best bottomless brunch in Oxford, move over Browns. Good food and fantastic service, Tee was amazing never without a drink! For only £20 you cannot go wrong!

Pretty bad. Waited 1.5h for burger and fries. 45m after I ordered one of the staff came over and asked what I was waiting for. Then they delivered the wrong burger. It was embarrassing - but at least they apologised and gave me a free beer. Still fairly minimal in my opinion. Food wasn’t great. Wouldn’t return for food ever, maybe a drink if desperate.

Amazing atmosphere to watch sporting events at, the pub has an abundance of TVS all over. Greta good and drink all the time and the staff are incredibly friendly and accommodating. Could not recommend enough!
