We had a superb lunch here a couple of days ago. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming and the IPA I had was fantastic and well kept. The food we had was completely flawless. From the bread served with home made butter to the pigs head and black pudding lasagne it was just sublime. It's great to see such a high standard of cooking, and it very certainly is. I'd recommend this place to anyone.

We had a lovely meal here this evening. A really lovely pub with very friendly staff. We had the 6-course menu and very glad that we did. The food was a really high standard and having the 6-courses means you can try both dishes on each course which were very different dishes. The homemade brioche was amazing - so much so we had a second loaf when offered! Overall an amazing experience and we would definitely love to visit again soon.

Thank you the team for a wonderful lunch! We had the 3 course meal and every course is delicious, the pre-meal dish added before the 1st course is a nice touch. Price is reasonable too. Small improvement is the texture of the meat is a bit tough…the cod can be more flavourful! We would return if we stop by the area again :)

Run out of sparkling wine glasses so served in normal glasses , hardly a crime but not exactly Michelin star Narrow menu , two starters, mains and sweets . Main course small white undercooked translucent fish on a yellow sauce , not a vegetable in site , when this was raised with staff “ was your meal ok , no not really “ there was no response or follow up, the duck and a tart with no veg was ok , restaurant was cold although there were hot water bottles, table unstable and £125 a head . Very expensive, needs to be better .Used to be good , trading on passed days maybe ?

For 1 star Michelin, this was a disappointing experience for us. The tasting menu is genuinely a time capsule for a questionable 70s cookbook, with clashing flavours & unnerving soggy texture across most of the dishes. Fancy hospital food come to mind due to overall blandness. That said, if you are a member of the Boomer generation, you might enjoy this tasting menu as it feels very of “that time”. Ingredients are quality, the service was good & knowledgeable.

The village is small but cute and there are wonderful walks around to work the appetite before sitting down. The walk that start at the back of the church old graveyard follows the Centenary Way and there's an obvious 25 walk across fields and up a small hill with a nice panoramic view. Nice selection of beers and wine, some very premium but some very affordable with good value for money. The atmosphere is cosy and relaxed and the staff is experienced and efficient. If feels like a well run operation, unsurprisingly since the same senior team has ran successful pubs around the coswolds for well over a decade now. The menu is understated but the food that comes out is very refined and delicious with lots and little "in between" courses that taste wonderful. This is more Michelin star than gastro pub. Overall a wonderful experience with the only deception being the gap in quality between some of the food options, there are clearly better choices than others on the menu, for instance we found the fish course disappointing.

Exceptional! We love to eat at Michelin star restaurants as a treat and I can highly recommend The Royal Oak. The food is flavoursome, expertly presented and original. The staff are attentive and friendly. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming with a real lovely posh pub feel but not pretentious. One of my favourite Michelin star restaurants.

Popped in to The Royal Oak a Cup of Tea earlier after a local walk! I live locally and have passed the pub so many times, and always wondered what it is like. The Staff were really friendly and welcoming and the customer service was superb! Had a really nice cup of tea with the family sat out the front in the sun! They even offered us hot water bottles which was a really nice touch. I will definitely be coming back for food in the future, especially with the Michelin Star status that they have. Look forward to trying the Roast Venison which was new on the Menu! Thank you again for a great experience!

Their 6 dish tasting menu is absolutely fantastic! Service was great and every dish was interesting and different - definitely worth the trip.

Was very kindly taken to the Royal Oak for my birthday lunch recently. I really enjoyed what they are doing there! The food was high calibre as you would expect from a Michelin Star, delicious and innovative. The staff and patron were the stars though, so friendly/welcoming and added greatly to our experience. I would strongly recommend!

Exceptional dining experience masquerading as a gastro pub - the fact they have a Michelin star says it all really. Can’t believe I have a restaurant of this quality 5 mins drive from my house. The only problem, booking a table. Book well in advance as it’s very popular - every time I’ve looked I’ve never been able to get one sooner than in a couple weeks time.

The price is reasonable in the midland area. The food a little salty for me

Had the 6 course tasting menu. Very friendly serving staff and the chefs delivered and explained each course. Lots of in season ingredients used. Well presented and very tasty. Off the beaten track, but well worth a visit.

Outstanding pub/restaurant in the countryside. Mix of old build and modern deco. Food reliably outstanding. Dogs allowed in restaurant sadly. Otherwise, it is a great atmosphere with a mix of old, family, and Instagram generations. Would be good to allow both course numbers/menus at the same table. Food is sublime - local and seasonal.

Phenomenal gastropub. Amazing and friendly staff, and the food is wonderful. They’re working hard to be environmentally conscious and support local farmers. Definitely plan to return.

What a lovely find, set in a small village. Exceptional Food (a 4 course tasting menu), but with some complimentary tasters - loved the 'eggs and bacon' - believe me, it's more than your imagination can think about, all in a fabulous way. Dishes and flavours that are created to blow your mind! It's a must. Celebrated our anniversary yesterday ❤️ ps homemade bread to die for!

Fantastic food in the perfect environment served by great people! If you want a Michelin star dining experience as well as a beautiful country pub environment with an outstanding open fire. Look no further. The staff took the time to get to know us and make us feel like a local. We’ll be returning time and time again!

This was a birthday treat for me . Setting is beautiful, and is spilt via a local style pub and modern styled restaurant. Felt very welcome, warm and well looked after. There taster menu is amazing and loved the food and experience. Was so nice to chat to the owner (chef) and his wife . I could see there passion in what they do and the team around them. Dinner for two with the 4-course option. Food is definitely inventive, with in-season locally sourced products. The Venison and the Turbot were cooked perfectly. The wine list is approachable; the service professional yet friendly. The décor and the atmosphere are calm with tables at a reasonable distance from each other. Will definitely go again in another season to taste different ingredients.
