Good high-elevation point of view. You can have a wonderful view of wilderness beach and river. This is one of the important tourist attractions if you pass on N2 highway in this area of garden route.

Beautiful view of the naturally formed map of Africa. Gravel road to get there. But well maintained. Bonus is the paragliding that happens there. Great to watch them take off and land

Gorgeous! There’s someone giving you information at the lookout point which is also a very nice touch.

Amazing view. A must visit spot. Map of Africa is stunning and just across the road you can see the beautiful view wilderness beach. You might see the sheep grazing over there. It is paragliding launch site also. I think it's a must visit place if you are on garden route.

Breathtaking viewpoint. Free to view. Expected a bit more, but you literally just park your car, walk to the shaded bench where the name board is, and peer over the wooden fence to look at the 'Map of Africa' formed by the land and rivers below. There was however a guide sitting there with her cat, that told us a bit more about this stunning viewpoint, and that we could walk across the road to the other side afterwards, to view the beautiful ocean below. We found huge mushrooms growing there, as well as sheep grazing on the green grass.

Went on a humid and very sunny winter's day. There is a bit of a gravel road drive in and you drive past some informal settlements. Nearing the end of the road you'll find the Map of Africa and some volunteers explaining the ecosystem movement of the water and how the water interacts with he trees etc. I would suggest going in the morning or during sun down for a better view as it can get quite foggy and humid. The paragliding option (on the other side of the street) also seemed like a fun option.

The volunteer ladies were so nice to talk to and explained the area and it's history in great detail. From other people's reviews we thought the road would be in a terrible state, but it isn't that bad. Would recommend that your car has a little bit of ground clearance, but I don't think a 4x4 would be necessary. Don't know how the road would look after rainfall though. If you have time for a stop, definitely come do it at this viewpoint. You can see the beautiful river and trees down below and when you walk across the road you can get a bird's eye view of the ocean.

A beautiful view over the Kaaimans river bridge and N2. One can see how the roads are shaped as the shape of Africa. To the other side one has the most spectacular view of the wilderness beaches. Here you’ll probably find the adrenaline seeking paraglider’s. It really is a beautiful view both ways and the Wilderness really is “The place to be”!!

Was a very nice lookout point. We enjoyed the stop and it was clean. The road there is a gravel road for about 4km but is in a good condition.

A perfect outing for a family. Map of Africa is stunning and on the other side of the road you will find spectacular views of the Wilderness beach. Pristine, White, Sandy Beaches. Pack a picnic basket for your family and take it easy. There is a large green lawn that you can have a picnic on. This was a perfect outing with my family. I am a 15 year old teenager and if I say it is a cool outing I am sure your family will enjoy it too. There is a small Coffee shop close-by. Dogs or not welcome on the lawn. We did take our dogs with us and left them tied next to the entrance with some water.

Its so beautiful and a lovely view. I definitely think it looks more like a crocodile head than the map of Africa but its still a really beautiful and unique view.

Fantastic lookout over Garden Route. Go tandem paragliding with Wallendair/Flytime when conditions allow. During good days you’ll see 100s of km down garden route and might spot whales jumping in the sea. Whenever paragliders are up, conditions are probably good for a tandem. The tandem coaches there are among the best pilots in South Africa. True highlight on the route. You’ll be safe, and the instructors will set you up. The experience itself will last c. 10 minutes, depending on conditions, but it’ll feel like an eternity. In best conditions, you’ll land up, otherwise you’ll fly along the highway down to the beach. I’ve been with Flytime and had a great time during my stay. Can only recommend

Beautiful lookout, great view! I even liked the other side better facing the sea and the beaches

View was breathtaking. Place was easy to find and there was a group of people I think that works for the society who gave us more information of the surrounding of the map of Africa. Further down you find a big open meadow with the view of the ocean where you would be able to watch the people paragliding down the mountain.

This is a MUST-SEE!! If you're ever in The Wilderness or doing a Garden Route trip, stop over here. The views are immaculate😍

Lovely view point, definitely something everyone should do at least once in the garden route ! Very clean around, and just a spectacular view ! Lovely bench for you to sit at as well and enjoy. Road is dirt to get there but looked after well. It’s free as well ! They say you can donate to the volunteers who look after it.

An interesting geographic feature, perhaps best seen photographically. Not really worth the bone shaking drive on the last few miles of corrugated dirt road to access it. There is so much other stunning scenery in this beautiful country that is more accessible.

Definitely a beautiful spot, but not necessarily a place that you would spend a lot of time at as space is limited at the lookout point.

Cool view point to have a look at if you’re driving past and have some spare time. Would not recommend going out of your way to look at. Free (can give a donation to a lady who explains some stuff) and only a couple of minutes needed to view.

A great view of the yes below and river. Viewing platform a bit crowded for my taste, to get the right angle to see the full view of the "map of Africa".

What a beautiful place. Thanks to the lady there that gave us some very interesting history about the place, and also for pointing out the crocodile😊!

Beautiful tranqual spot, worth stopping over and enjoy am aerial view of the forest, the "Map of Africa", and up the road one can see a beautiful scenery of the wildness coastline over the green lawn where paragliding lauch from.

Situated high above Wilderness this lookout spot provides a fantastic vista of the Kaaimans River flowing through the Wilderness mountains creating an impression of the Map of Africa as seen from above. Worth it if you have the opportunity to visit to take in the sights.

It's an amazing view. Quite surprising how much like Africa the landscape looks. Awesome lady with tons of info enlightening you on the Map of Africa.

I don’t understand why this is a “must see” or a tourist spot. You need to drive 3kms on gravel to get here and come on. It’s just mountains. I will say the view is nice just across the street to see the bay and at the coffee shop right there so I guess why not. But would definitely not go out of the way for this. So silly

Map of Africa is bushland defined by a stream which is dark in colour due to tannins in the water. Best viewed on far right corner of platform. Africa also looks like a big semisubmerged crocodile head ( swimming towards you). One is welcome to cross the road and use the style to cross enter the paddock with (self shedding) sheep to see amazing views of The Wilderness.

Beautiful place to stop for both forest and ocean views. The last part of the drive is a dirt road, but it is worth it. A great addition to anyone's Garden Route trip.

Ok. Face it, going up the 7 Pass Road needs a forewarned thought: like Gollum said, "It's tricksie." There's a place to get a cooked meal at the Teahouse and nursery 3/4 of the way up, but go to @hallocoffee along the way up to or from #MapofAfrica. They're also building workstations on the cliff edge for you to come work at, at the edge of the mountain facing seaward, have coffee and I saw other eats, and yes: there's wifi. Otherwise there's no signal up there , so go drink coffee. Drive 3 minutes more: That lookout is next. You'll see where to stop, the road basically ends, so listen to the great intel from the lady sitting there under the little shelter stop, her stage for view point. From there, It's looking at the shape of the land, hills and mountains, plus dual rivers making an actual depiction of the African continent each side, with both Atlantic and Indian Oceans defining the land and shape as both freshwater and seawater rivers. If you dont like any of this, you can literally jump off the cliff... paragliding on the sea facing (other side).

The views are amazing at this place. I hope I will be back on a day where the weather is amazing for some paragliding. I didn't really notice the map of Africa on the landmark though hahaha. I see a crocodile's head.

Grand scenes, and a lovely calmness. Be sure to grab a snack from Hallo Coffee on your way up, it'll add to the experience 😊

I was nuts enough to walk up to the Map of Africa from Wilderness. That I DON'T recommend, because there is absolutely no pedestrian route up Hoogte Road. It's actually pretty dangerous. After that, there is also onluy a dirt road. The view was gorgeous, though, and I really enjoyed being up there.
