I booked through Agoda but the hotel then cancelled my booking on the same day as checking in. When I called the receptionist said I’m sorry we don’t have any rooms. Zero empathy. When I tried to get further explanation, she proceeded hang up the phone! If I could give less than 1 I would.

Please don't go here! The hotel is very dirty and tremendously outdated. Rooms and towels were not clean, to say the least. Smelly, hairs everywhere, mouldy walls, damages, stains etcetera. Reception staff and housekeeping were friendly and did their best, but the state of the hotel is just so poor, they couldn't do anything. Never again. Breakfast buffet is good though.

Where to start, had a horrible experience here so glad that my stay was only for 2 days so didn't spoil my holiday to much. This is a typical example of people that are employed to occupy space. Spoke with staff on many occasions, they all very polite but don't action anything you ask, must be noted it's not really kids friendly. Specially the dining area. Reminds me of the wilderness beach hotel just before it closed its doors

We had a wonderful stay - view over the common allowed us to enjoy the sunrise every morning. The location is perfect: surrounded by lovely restaurants, nature and walking distance from the beach. Rooms were comfotable and very clean. Very helpful and friendly staff. Pool area was lovely and clean.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our experience at the Wilderness Hotel. The breakfast buffet, available from 7am to 10 am, left a lasting impression and their coffee was exceptional. Their staff was exceptionally welcoming and accommodating. I wholeheartedly recommend paying them a visit, whether you're a local looking for a delicious meal like we were or a traveler seeking a place to stay. Keep up the great work Wilderness Hotel!

The carpets in the bedroom is filthy and full of stains, many staff members were rude and made it unpleasant, the dinner was not good but alot better than the breakfast, there are fun places like the tennis, putt-putt and swimming pool that was great, the cleaners didn't refill our coffee, milk and sugar and we had to go buy our own, some bedsheets had light brown stains, all thing that was great was the sleeping. The air-conditioning was very bad. The remote didn't work properly.

First-class service. I was there during the March school holidays this year. The views are breathtaking and the hotel is nicely kept all day long. The food and drinks are fantastic. Then there was Zuki the barman and he was a treat. Always willing to help and have a great conversation, the same with the Chef. Top class. I enjoyed my stay thoroughly.

Excellent place for all your vacation needs...gym facility... squash... swimming pool... putt-putt... tennis... table tennis... excellent overall...(a tap for water drink in room 245 is the only thing missing, the bathroom tap for water drink is just not the same).

Pleasant enough stay. Clean and well serviced. You just gotta have the breakfast. Deliciously variable and service great. The only problem are the common facing room we had. Very noisy from traffic and activity on the common. Guys start cutting grass at 8am and not 6am.

Beautiful historic hotel and spa in Wilderniss. Various amenities like a pool, putt putt, bowling green, and health spa. Buffet breakfast served in the mornings. A la carte menu for lunch and dinner. Golfers platter highly recommended. Rooms clean with king size beds. Close to beach, Spar and other restaurants. Some rooms overlooking Touw River. Beautiful scenery.

As far as hotels go, it operates efficiently. The room we stayed in was adequate and clean - linen, bathroom etc. It was basic with a fridge, kettle and telly. Very conveniently located. It's a lovely old hotel with a rich history. Breakfast was great. Especially the Waffles!

Lovely hotel in a beautiful position overlooking the lagoon. Room and facilities were excellent, lovely gardens with a swimming pool, tennis courts even squash courts. Breakfast choice was very large and good quality. Only fault is with the poolside loungers, they are very old and the mattresses are falling apart.

Spacious rooms, centrally located with shops and the ocean within walking distance. The hotel has activities for the whole family ie table tennis, putt putt, pool, tennis etc with affordable accommodation.

I mean, not even sure where to start. The WiFi was so bad, it could not even load Netflix from our laptop that we connected to the tv to just watch something to try fall asleep to on the second night after the first night of being a little uncomfortable with the bed and having no hot water. There was no hot water for the two days we were there. The website claims a full English breakfast “buffet” which was bread with egg, a few things to make put with the egg like mushrooms, onion and tomato. No bacon or sausage, the fruit was a little “soggy”, then some yogurt to go with the fruit. Not much of a ‘ Full English Breakfast’ But that’s okay I guess?. We pretty bummed about our experience cause paying close to 3k for two nights you would expect a little more from a hotel that’s popular, or even just some warm water.

Rooms are shoddy and old and multiple areas within the rooms and balconies needing significant and urgent repairs and/or renovation. We stayed in 218 and 217, the montague wing of the hotel is awful. Walls are super thin and one hears every noise and many conversations I prefer not to remember or heard in the first instance. Overall, it seems like a hotel desperate to clinge on to its past glories (looking at the picture and articles hung up on the corridor walls). Unfortunately this place is so far from its glory day and way too expensive for what is offers. Facilites are also in need to some TLC everything is just old and sad. The breakfast was basic but decent and the service average (not bad/not great), standard coffee is complementary with breakfast. Cappucinos are available at an extra charge R25. Tennis courts work. Could use some fresh paint and closer toilets and showers. Pool is filthy... And green. Kids game room and table table available Outdoor chess board is fun if yoi have time Squash court has no showers/toilets Mini golf is just horrid... Old and falling apart Overal safety/security of hotel is problematic... People can enter and leave as a they see fit. The access and fences are all super porous. None of the rooms offer any ocean views.... Nit great for the major hotel in a beach town. Save the money... Book a nice B&B with personalised service and greta views.

Absolutely amazing hotel . Has been our traditional December get away home away from home for 4 years and we absolutely love it . The breakfast is a definite highlight and excellent service as well. Will definitely be back next year ♥️♥️♥️

Unbelievably bad, supposedly a ‘family hotel’. Jungle gym was completely run down with missing dangerous pieces - perfect for injuring kids, to top it off, it even had some guy sleeping on it the one day. Rooms was so crummy and run down, Wi-Fi hardly worked, TV was so grainy, no towels available for pool, games room a massive dump. For the price you pay here I’d suggest multiple other options in Wilderness, this place is so bad. Never again.

Hotel is very dirty and outdated. Our first room had bugs all over this pillows. We went to the front desk and the gentleman moved us to a new room that isn’t much better. We are currently laying in the bed with the pillows wrapped in bath towels. The rooms smell musty and are dirty. Extremely disappointed!

Considering the way the guesthouse industry has evolved and the fact that these types of accommodation is not the first option for many people, we ended up returning there over and over. Reasonably priced. We have 3 small kids and despite the long walks, we love this place

Hotel went to the dogs!! Lying here in bed and it 23:57 and have to listen to workers yelling at one another and load banging in the halls from other people. Definitely not suited for people with toddlers

Checked in on sunday around half8,could not order as per staff. We were served chicken snitzel which did not taste good at all after we waited to be served for almost an hour if not more. The staff is very skeleton. Then the rest of the days was bouquet which was the same menu all days. The beds are single beds put together covered with single bed duvet. An upgrade is due. Thanks

Lovely old time holiday resort hotel in a beautiful town. One can see that it was once a grand old place where you packed the ossewa and stayed for 3 weeks with the whole family. Signs of hard times do show but overall it's still quite dignified. Our room's aircon dates from the paleolithic age but worked OK and will probably outlive us all. Room was smallish and clammy but the breakfast was fan-freaking-tastic. Crawling distance from lots of pubs and eateries. Reasonably priced, but ask for room in never part of hotel. Carpets at the back rooms smells musty. Would go back for the waffle station at breakfast.

We had a nice stay at the hotel. We only had a problem with the water, they tried to fix it, but it was still a problem. They moved us to another room. This room was lovely. The cleaning staff was a bit loud in the mornings. They shouted at one another in the passages. Wynand & Mariska Botha

Breakfast buffet was good. Shower takes forever to warm up and only gets lukewarm. Good mattress but a little worn. TV channels limited and very snowy. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Amazing staff and amenities. Breakfast Buffet is amazing, especially Auntie Annie! Room service was amazing. Prudence at the front desk took utmost care of us.
