WILL NOT RECOMEND. Horrible guest house with a super rude and arrogant owner. Pee behind the toilet as pipes are leaking with dust everywhere. Layers of dust on floor, behind furniture and towels smells off mold. He blames us for not wanting to pay for his R2 a piece of fire wood as I said we will buy from a shop rather. He used that a an excuse not to refund us as my attitude changed when he told me the wood is not free.

Not a pleasant experience. We paid full price. Stayed in a loft on top of the Proprieters living quaters. High bunk for children. Plumbing fragile .. looks and felt like it could break anytime.

Although the business is in a nice area it seemed a bit unkempt with long grass. Asked to see their room prior to booking. Staff member had to phone manager / owner who declined the request. Saying we can only view the room after booking. Manager did not speak to us directly. Only advised that we can check photos of the rooms online. Needless to say we went away to another guest house

Went back to reception and were told no refund only on key deposit well needless to say it turned into a arguement untill a guy comes from the office think owner he must have seen i am not going to accept this nonsense and refunded me. We were happy staying there. You can just upgrade by putting a sink and dish cloth in the corner where kitchen area is. It will make huge difference and I was looking for a iron as well. Other then that we were happy 😊

Highly expensive for No Star grading And extremely greedy for money!! after checking out this morning earlier then arranged with owner of The Farmhouse Guesthouse, i was still waiting for my car that were in for a service (about 4.1km away from where we were) and i was expecting a call from them to inform me when i can collect my car, then my battery died so i asked the Owner if i can charge my phone for a bit just so they'll be able to get hold off me and the response i got was SHOCKING!!!! He answered: "well how much are you willing to Pay for the service and convenience that you were about to get and use from this Guesthouse" i couldn't actually believe what i heard and without making a big thing out of it i just said "thanks" and i walked away. The owner watched as i walked away from the premises, knowing that i had to walk about 4.1km now just to find out that the car might still not be ready yet. 5min later after i left i received a whatsapp message from the Guesthouse owner, he said: (copied from whatsapp just like i received it from him) [02/19, 11:44] β€ͺ+27 84 626 4580‬: R100 vir altwee saam tot 4uur. [02/19, 11:44] β€ͺ+27 84 626 4580‬: Sitkamer en swembad ingesluit [02/19, 11:45] β€ͺ+27 84 626 4580‬: En wifi en tv [02/19, 11:45] β€ͺ+27 84 626 4580‬: πŸ˜‚πŸ‘ IT IS REALLY SAD TO SEE THAT A GROWN MAN LIKE THE OWNER OF THE FARMHOUSE GUESTHOUSE ACTUALLY GETS "A LAUGH" OUT OF SOMETHING LIKE THIS. I WILL NOT RECOMMEND THE FARMHOUSE GUESTHOUSE TO EVEN MY BIGGEST ENEMY TO BE CONSIDERED AS AN OPTION FOR ACCOMMODATION

Made a booking at this place. there was no call to cancel my booking. My employees arrived at the accommodation after driving 8 hours only to be told the accommodation is full. This was 8-10pm. This is very bad service. It would have been nice to receive an email or a call just telling me that i need to make another plan or not overbooking in the first place as i did confirm the booking. You should be paying me a short notice cancellation fee.......

In an age of β€œbuyers market” where hospitality is abundantly available all over SA, it is inexcusable to have to pay 4-star rates for 1-star accommodation. My mistake was that I did not look at the room before paying. I would have walked right out. There were plenty of luxury rooms in the area at lower rates. Situated under the mountains in George I was freezing in mid winter under the thinnest of duvets and poor quality of blankets and linen. The large β€œshouty” rule lists to be signed off and all over the walls gave an ambience of being in a reformatory rather than a place of warmth and care. I could not wait to leave in the morning. My worst experience ever in years of roadtripping. It was as creepy, musty and a sense of greed and lack of integrity/misrepresentation. Would never recommend. There is a bad spirit in this place. Owner attempted to take a R500 damage deposit for a 12 hr stay. I refused outright.

Will not recommend, will flood other sites, pay if full and zero refund for False advertising, 2 grown men to sleep o bunk beds, then told one of us ca book somewhere else, and whilst requesting a refund the owner put the phone down..

Worst accommodation encountered ever. This is our overall feedback on the Farmhouse. The Farmhouse- George. This has been the most disappointing accommodation experience, ever booked and paid in full for. Whilst advertised as more of a β€œbackpacker” accommodation, situated in an upmarket area, serious consideration needs to be given to the hygiene levels overall and what is advertised on the website compared to the real life experience. Trying to find the establishment without a house number or sign outside, then having to wait for about 5 minutes for the gate to be opened, was not the warmest reception experienced especially in pouring rain. All rooms are advertised as having bathrooms, however one of our units rooms, the Schaapkraal, did not have any bathroom/toilet facilities and we were expected to use an outside toilet that looked like it was being used by the garden staff. Upon entering the 2nd unit, The Melkstal, we were welcomed with a terrible stench emanating from the kitchen/fridge area, which was totally unacceptable. The owner attempted to find the source of the smell, and since perusing previous reviews afterwards, it seems like it had been reported by previous guests as well. The toilet bathroom area was also very poor, the shower drain/strainer was broken and looked like a typical public facility, the mirrors was so rusted that you could hardly see yourselves in them. The bottom edges of the shower had extensive mould build-up it looked like a public facility (septic). The swimming pool was green, murky and dirty and upon enquiring we were told that it was out of working order but that our kids could swim. At whose risk? Cannot believe that during a summer holiday, the pool can’t be maintained and be ready for kids to enjoy, especially as its one of the amenities advertised. The linen looked worn and everything had a musky smell. The owner mentioned that he had people there from Namibia, it looked like they abandoned the accommodation without telling him, probable they also had major issues with the place. When we booked we didn’t select the said units as we would not have chosen facilities for a party of 9 people, with 5 kids having to use an outside toilet with a shower head literally 0,5 m away in the same claustrophobic space. Very disappointing and will not recommend this. Not even as a backpackers.

Will not recommend this place. We booked the Skaapkraal (family unit for 5) with an outside bathroom (which you cannot call a bathroom). Its a shower and a toilet in one with no basin even to brush teeth or wash hands after using the toilet. When you shower the toilet and toilet paper all gets wet. The unit was dirty, with a dirty thick layer of dust on the kettle. Not even enough cutlery for 5 people -we had to share. Definately not worth the price we had to pay!

We were in need of accommodation last night. Got to George at 20h00. I am on crutches and requested a ground floor room. Room was clean. Bathroom had sanitizer, body wash and shampoo. Very basic. Suited our needs. TV, kettle, coffee and tea. No milk and fridge inoperative. Slept well. Thanks to the kind lady in reception. I Will definitely vote for the party you suggested.
