Our experience was not good at all..read all the wonderful reviews on this place and decided to take this place as our honeymoon vacation..firstly the lodge has been taken over by new owners and to our luck they arrived on the day we have been there.they are wonderful people but unfortunately we were not treated to the best of their ability which i understand for new owners..but i did not spend a couple thousands of rands to actually receive this type of hospitality as it was unexpected for such a good rating from everyone (again it is under new owners so technically i cant compare my time there to everyone else) nevertheless For our honeymoon they ofcourse knew its our honeymoon as we booked in AUGUST already and we did not pay ok money we paid GOOD money lol we received NOTHING but 2 small fake roses on the bed and 2 waters in the fridge no surprise for anything etc.anyway first night the electric pole inbetween the trees were sparking and we have notified them and to find out the council did not show up at all to fix that spark.guess we were cats with 9 lives still. Next morning we go for breakfast at the bottom to find their menu is not halaal however they have asked is their anything else they can go get for us but we said no..we just had their cereals and fruit i dont feel comfortable telling people what to bring me and what i want as we dont treat people like servants and especially on that moment of time anyway i feel they suppose to atleast think before we arrive that they are actually muslim (our names ofcourse were given in august already) and we couldve accomodate them. Sorry for this long review to all that reading We booked this place because of the spa..unfortunately there is no spa at this lodge anymore and we were told to drive 10mins to another location and go to a spa there if we wanted one.no one mentioned to us that the new owners decided to close the spa down until WE ENQUIRED about how to book for it. Now that sucks big time anyway WIFI was a pain in the arse technically had no wifi the entire 3 day stay The New owners when they arrived they brought their dogs with aswell as their friends to celebrate their new lodge i suppose. We happy for them and congratulate them on it.but the lodge was not a place for you to bring your dogs and have a party while you actually have guests staying at your new lodge 🤣sorry thats just my opinion No refunds or gestures were given for all the unprofessional moments aswell as their being no spa but only to receive a verbal apology upon leaving I dont even want to talk about the whatsapp response of our complaints (above) Hope this review was helpful.

We celebrated our honeymoon at Lodge On the Lake and what an exceptional experience it was. Our room was immaculate with views overlooking the lake. It was beautiful. Basie and Annemie were the greatest hosts and recommended lovely gems to visit in and around their beautiful town. We would definitely recommend their accommodation and visit there again. We had a Garden room and it was beautiful, The hosts was very friendly and welcoming!! The main building has a spectacular view of the lake, we really enjoyed our stay !!

Needing a stopover for a Cape Town to PE trip and back, this was the perfect place to unwind and relax. Basie was the perfect, attentive host making sure we had everything we needed. He even helped carry our outsized luggage! Breakfasts were fantastic, more than we could eat! The views from everywhere in the house and our private rooms just added to the serenity. Will definitely be back, for more than one night!

What a special way to celebrate our 7 year anniversary. Lodge on the lake was the perfect location to always remember the 7 year mark. It was a home away from home. The rooms were super clean with something special added to the coffee area. The views are just breathtaking. The breakfast was incredible and the owners are just the best! It’s so nice to stay with people that aren’t just there to make money and “ that you are just another customer” . They made the effort and took the time to speak to us. That’s just a special way to make us (your guests) feel special. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

What a phenomenal weekend at Lodge on the Lake! The accommodation far exceeded our expectations - it was clean and modern, yet felt so warm and homey. The hosts were truly wonderful and made us feel so welcome. They cooked the most superb breakfast and also suggested great daytime activities to do. We cannot wait to return again soon!

What an amazing stay! The place is so beautiful and so clean, it looks exactly like it’s pictures. The staff was so friendly, and so eager to cater to our every need. A guy named Smiley (which is fitting because he was always smiling) was the best of them all. I wish I could’ve given him a bigger tip when we left. Overall a stunning place!

To get a GREAT review or even EXCELLENT is not always possible, but I wish to thank, with great gratitude, our loyal guests that stayed at the Lodge over the festive season and who supported us when many foreigners cancelled due to flight bans and the Covid situation, As new owners of a new business, there will always be challenges to face, but I can also say that we had done our utmost best to make each and every guest to feel at home and that their stay would be a blessed experience.... The Lodge is perfectly situated with the most wonderful views of one of God's perfect creations....a lake....sky....and mountains....and absolute peace for the mind and soul.... With proudness in my heart and lots of positive, beautiful feedback from guests, I just know and can say, that 95% of our guests this season, must have had a splendid time.

Upon arrival we were welcomed with loving and open arms by the new owners and felt at home from the moment we stepped foot in there. The friendliness and respect we got was awesome and we instantly clicked with new and old management. If I could give these people a 10 star rating,I would have. The rooms were stunning,neat and very clean. Breakfast was great every morning. Our only regret was that we could not stay any longer because they were unfortunately fully booked,but we will most definitely go back there and nowhere else in Wildnerness just because of the way we were treated. The animals were also so loving especially Grappy and he climbed into our hearts aswell. The new management are people's persons and thats why I know that they will make a huge success of this new adventure. Keep up the excellent job guys and see you shortly again. Nadine& Johann

Lodge on the Lake in Wilderness is an absolute gem. The views of Island Lake are breathtaking and its nestled in a north-facing bird sanctuary. The lodge is spotless and Anemie and Basie were hospitable, professional and generous. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. Easy access to the highway makes this a worthwhile and memorable stay.

We spent a few relaxing days at this stunning lodge. Each room upstairs has a balcony with the most beautiful views of the lake and if you wake up early enough you can watch a glorious sunrise. The only downside was that some guests had a problem climbing the stairs as all the bedrooms are upstairs but the view made up for that. Our host Basie was a wonderful and kind person who went that extra mile to make us a halaal breakfast. He was helpful and very considerate and we couldn't ask for a better host. All in all a great place to stay. FATIMA MAYET
