Went for breakfast with the family. We did make a reservation, as it's always busy. Was seated and waiter was friendly. We did not wait long for our drinks, but we did wait a while for our food, which was understandable as it was very busy. Everything was delicious. I had the salmon Eggs Benedict and a chai latte. My mom and sister had the French toast, which looked amazing - definitely will be ordering that next time we visit. Great vibe, friendly staff, delicious food.

Very good coffee too and the staff were all very friendly and professional. Definitely be back. They have lovely gardens 🏡 too for a short walk after something to eat .

Landed in George and stopped over at the Deacon House for early lunch...the food was great, lovely waiters and a beautiful setting with the garden and the mountain in the background. Would definitely recommend the place.

The setting is amazing, lush gardens, the fireplaces and couches for winter days, the plug points for laptops, being shielded against loadshedding and free WiFi are all positives

We went for lunch on recommendation, and i was pleasantly surprised. A hidden gem,kids friendly. A definite highlight for my George visit. Generous portions, tasty food. Serene surroundings makes this place extra special.

Best coffee I've tasted I a while and the best part was that the cappuccino was perfect drinking temperate - I hate it when coffee burns my tongue. I like that they offer decaf and vegan options. The food we had was really yummy. They were unable to make a few options and the waiter only told us this after we placed the order - would have loved to hear that when we received the menus. Love the interior of the place - lovely ambiance. They are only open until 5 though so not a dinner place.

very friendly and kind staff, the food was at the level of a 5 star hotel, very big portions, food options range between R90-R160 per plate, but the portions are enough for 2 meals. the atmosphere is calming and the premise is beautiful and includes a massive garden with flowers kids play area and a grass lawn kept very well and neat. the decor matches the food and every seat has a view of the george forest and mountains. the food was perfectly cook at my first and second visit, and offers a variety of more gourmet option but at a price and portion not matched by many other restaurants. This takes a spot on my top 5 must visit places in George, this is a must visit you will not be disappointed and has my approval of quality, kindness, amazing food and atmosphere.

My personal favorite in George! Beautiful place to sit down and relax, especially outside in their garden. Good coffee, wide variety on their menu and very kind staff. Good cake selection. Little play area outside to keep the kiddies busy.

Lovely flat white coffee and brilliant French toast was my choice of breakfast. Coffee at the right temperature and the brie cheese and bacon were exquisite. I would definitely recommend to anyone coming to George who wants a well priced and yummy breakfast, the setting and view if sitting outside adds to the whole experience

Any restaurant deserves a second chance and a year later I gave that to The Deacon, amazing experience, super fast waiters, friendly staff, excellent food and best coffee in the country. This restaurant deserves your support, absolutely top notch!

! No place if you have food intolerances! So, the menu is pretty basic, however where most places these days have gluten free options here they don’t. So we went for a naked burger and chips, thinking if done write it could still be delicious. Sadly the burger was cooked through and very dry. It’s just not right if you have to chew a burger that much to get it down. The sauces and condiments taste prebought. So produced somewhere else and then just warmed up. Of course I wouldn’t know for sure. The mayo ( that they sell for 50 Rand extra / and keep in mind I burger wasn’t reduced in price even though it was served without a bun) was definitely out of a can or glass. All in all we are not returning. A shame because the staff is very friendly and the location is also quite pretty.

Came by for a quick cocktail and sister had a milkshake. Took 15 minutes to get our order taken, 15 the two drinks to arrive then our waiter vanished so we asked another for the bill after waiting 20 minutes for our waiter. Drinks were great but service lacking.

Had coffee and a light meal with my family (5 people) today at 11:30. Waited 20 mins for coffee. Coffee was cold. Waiter did not know whether they had skinny cappuccino. Upon ordering we were informed that they did not have any quiche or roosterkoek as we wanted to order a light meal. We ordered two scones for two people. After waiting 15 minutes we were told by waiter that the kitchen had to bake scones first and one had to wait for another 20 minutes. Scones was very tasty, chicken livers was very tasty, Hawaiian chicken wrap was very good also. We were served food but had to go and ask for cutlery inside at the bar counter as none was handed to us before or during food service. Bread was served without butter. Butter only arrived after I was done eating. It was a bit of a shame as I was looking forward especially to the coffee as I like a decent cappuccino.

I did not enjoy the coffee. Was definitely an issue with the brewing process. I am dissapointed that it happened because the establishment is coffee specialists. Classic cheese cake with a classic cheesecake taste. But on the expensive side. Would have appreciated a bit of garnish, like strawberries,cream or raspberries, to make it feel more expensive. Maybe then I wouldn't have complained about the price. At least the view, atmosphere and the conversation were good. Also the staff was very friendly.

What a lovely restaurant! It has the most beautiful outdoor seating in an absolutely gorgeous garden filled with lush flowers and butterflies and birds! And the waiters and waitresses are so friendly! I really fell in love with this place from the second I parked my car! I came here to see off some family that was visiting from Johannesburg, sort of like a mini farewell. I had heard a lot of good things about this place and even stories about it belonging to someone, a vet or something by the name of Mr Deacon... Or something like that, I don't know, anyway that's not really important. Let me get straight into why I haven't given this restaurant 5 stars despite it being such an absolutely lovely place! I was not impressed by the menu at all. I wasn't able to order anything on the menu, which is something I am quite used to (at other restaurants) because I can't eat a lot of foods. But the huge disappointment came in when everyone at the table decided to get dessert, and I had seen on the menu it said gluten free options available! Unfortunately there weren't any gluten free desserts and well yes, unfortunately that is why I decided on 3 stars. Our waiter was Patrick he was also lovely and did tell me that there are plans to have a vegan and gluten free section on the menu, so that was nice of him as well. My brother has hake and chips, I took a picture I'll add it to this :)
