I tend not to write negative reviews, but experience wasn't great. Myself and my friend visited pub on Sunday afternoon for lunch. Ordered food and drinks. Received squid starter quite quickly. Unfortunately, it was super salty and dry. OK, happens! Possibly chef is in love and added extra salt into the dish. So, we were hoping main food will be much better and we will forget salty squid. We had to wait for a glass of wine exactly 30 min. As a main dishes we ordered cod and vegeterian. It was exactly 40min into service and we started wondering if chef had to fish cod somewhere in the pond?! Suddenly a member of staff come in and told us that our food is coming next. And that they are sorry as they are very busy due to a private event upstairs. OK, fair enough - we can understand it, it is a busy day. However the dissapointing fact was that customers who arrived after us, got they orders very quickly, finished they food and left while we were still waiting for our main dishes? Food reached our table after 50 min of waiting and unfortunately, veg pastry was dry and fish was overcooked. Place seems cute and cozy, but due to our experience I can rate it only 2 stars.

We had our Christmas Party in one of the private rooms on Friday and it was incredible! The staff were amazing, the food was top quality and the overall feel at the whole venue was just what we needed. So grateful for Dani who helped to organise the event and to Wellington, Marina and Sky who made our night so enjoyable! Thanks guys, Merry Christmas! Love The Refinery

Came here today to watch the England game and had an absolutely great experience. The staff were great and very fast service even during a very busy time. The atmosphere I cannot fault and was great to watch the game. Definitely would recommend to anyone in the area if you want to watch football. The restaurant is beautiful inside with great interior decoration and nice bathrooms. The prices for pints I would say are on the expensive side for London but this is the area and this is not a chain pub so it is to be expected. Highly recommend if you are in the area, they appear to do weddings too which is great! Outdoor area looked super nice as well even in the rain. If you liked my review feel free to give it a 👍 and follow me on Google Maps for more reviews!

Table service only which means at busy times it's really worth booking. It also loses a little bit of the pub vibe The table service is a little hit and miss in terms of timing although they definitely seemed to have enough staff on. Generally you had to flag staff down. Had a few Guinness which were sadly poured in a straight glass with too large a head, the photos are from different pints. It had taken long enough to get noticed to be served to be worth saying anything about. Kinda meh for the price you're paying overall

Many people will love it, but it's not a traditional British pub. There was a security guy outside, who asked if we had a reservation. We didn't and although I said we were only going in for a drink, he insisted that he find us seats. No buying a drink, standing and waiting for seats to become available. In fact, it's all table service and their modus operandi is to set up a tab that you pay at the end, not conducive to buying rounds. It's also very expensive for a pub (£16.40.for a pint of Neck Oil and a glass of house white wine), but it is in Chelsea . Anyway, the staff are all pleasant and helpful, they have a pretty good range of beers and it's quite likely to serve good food. The garden looked like it would be pretty nice in summer (and clearly well used on a slightly damp December evening).

27 of us hired The Oakley Room @ the Phene for lunch last week. The room is amazing, beautifully decorated with an open fire. The food was great and our waiters Wellington and Robert were fantastic. They couldn't have been more accommodating and made sure we were all looked after. I would thoroughly recommend The Phene. We will be back

Located in the heart of Chelsea, this is a popular pub and carries a good atmosphere. However, some of the staff behave like they own the place and don’t really give off a service-friendly vibe. It’s quite annoying because two of them got my friends drinks order wrong, most probably because they weren’t fully paying attention. The fries were over-cooked but the baked Camembert was excellent. It’s hit and miss with food and service, so best of luck if you visit.

Nice pub but a particularly pretentious bartender spoiled it for us. The guy thought he was too cool to have to speak, he just glared at us when we asked him anything. He literally wouldn't speak to customers but he spoke to his colleagues. Muppet! The food and drinks were nice though, and the outside area nice on a sunny day.

Inside the place is beautiful, has a big outdoor area. The food is delicious but the portions are not big, they are enough if you have a starter main and desert. You can have all the drinks in da world at the bar, the wine can get expensive.

Quality of the food is good. My rating is due to having to ask the staff to wear their face coverings when they were at our table. Many of them wore their masks covering only their mouths, whilst others came to our table with their mask below their chins leaving both mouth and nose uncovered.

It was a real surprise to eat here and be offered a full on vegan menu which was fabulous. We sat in the garden which was surrounded by flowers and low lighting and we enjoyed a delicious rosé accompanied by greet food. The staff were absolutely charming.

I just came to this pub to a drink but loved this atmosphere and the service. We were delighted to get a table and enjoyed a drink and a chat on a Saturday night. Some people were watching a game but outdoors it was gorgeous and perfect to catch up. Service was amazing as well! Thank you!

Phene is an upmarket pub with 2 private rooms for hire in the heart of Chelsea. First of all it is not a very convenient place to get to with the 2 stations in its proximity being a brisk 15 minute walk away. The nearest public transport being the riverboat services at cadogan approx 0.2miles away. They have a good selection of beers and ales on tap and the same can be said of the wines. The upper private room is a cosy place enough for 9-10 guests. However the interiors could seriously do with a makeover. The set menus are pricey, smallish but of above average quality and how they taste may also depend on promptness of service. Our starters and mains were delivered quickly but we experienced quite a wait for our desserts and the cheque. Another couple of areas where there is ample of scope for improvement are noise / floor restroom management.

We really enjoyed this place. We had one of the private rooms upstairs for a wedding and everything about it was great. The room itself is full of character, the staff were very accommodating when it came to setting up, food was excellent and the service we received was fantastic. No one was without a drink. I would definitely return when I'm next in town. Thank you.

My friends and I decided to visit The Phene Saturday evening for a quick drink. We have been coming to Chelsea for years. Now, what walk in pub says to you, you cannot come in as they are fully booked when actually people are standing at the bar and there is space at the walk in tables? I was very baffled by the this, a point mentioned to nearby wine bars that were also baffled. In pubs everyone stands, as far as I am aware. Unless you put a sign up outside stating you are at capacity. The waiter looked at us in such a way which to be honest I have never had to feel before. It was like we were being vetted to enter. I was honestly not impressed. I put it down to one thing ‘we didn’t look the part’ even though we were very smartly dressed and those in the pub were in sweatshirts, jeans and trainers. We are also of very professional backgrounds so I really couldn’t comprehend why. We were exceptionally polite. Apologies I have to say this but I put it down to discrimination. We are of Asian, African and Russian origin. This is what I put it down to. Our IQs are very likely to be much higher than those actually in the pub. Again I did not make a scene as I knew we were ‘vetted’, never in my life have I experienced this. I would not recommend the pub on any level and looking at the reviews I think we were actually quite fortunate and the waiter did us a favour. I wouldn’t even give one star but I had to for this review….. I would recommend the either pubs/ wine bars on Kings Road slightly more sophisticated and very welcoming. Post review comments from the owner, thank you for coming back to me so promptly. Perhaps the waiter should then educate customers exactly what the situation is at that time. It was not busy in the garden nor inside but this is our personal visual opinion. I still would not advocate attendance. Plenty of other places to go in Chelsea.

A gorgeous gastro pub with very good service. Our Onglet, Poussin, Risotto and Burger were all perfectly cooked. We overstayed our welcome way into the early afternoon-a sign of how comfortable we all were.

This is a delightful pub in the heart of Chelsea. Clean, tidy and well laid out. The staff gave us a friendly welcome when we arrived even though we hadn't booked. Service to our table was great and the staff appeared to know what they were talking about when they helped us choose a wine. A good choice of beers and wines are available and the garden is lovely. Not the cheapest of pubs, but this is Chelsea. Well worth a visit.

Differently from many reviewers, we found service fine. Sam, who looked after us, was kind and proactive. The main problem was the food. The fried squid was very average, the chicken liver parfait was taste -free. The hanger steak was truly disappointing (See picture) and the beef wellington a mix of overcooked beef and undercooked pastry. I guess if we ever go again we will stick to drinks.

Had the opportunity to try this place through work. The fish and scallops were delicious, showcasing the chef's skill. However, the bacon was a bit overcooked, which affected the overall dish. The service was fine, attentive but room for improvement. Overall, a good experience with potential for perfection.

The first time we visited The Phene was for our daughter's wedding reception, which was a perfect occasion. Since then we've come back for drinks and most recently six friends for mid week lunch. Every time the food has been fabulous and the reception extremely friendly. And I can highly recommend the Espresso Martini with Ginger as a desert!

The pub has a nice feel, with friendly staff and a good atmosphere. However, we waited almost an hour for our food to be served. No one came to speak to us address this delay either (hence the 2 stars for service). When the food finally arrived, we were missing two items. The food was ok - the mains were not hot enough, the beef sirloin was tough, the roast potatoes were dried out and over cooked, as were the Yorkshire Puddings. Traditional Sunday Roast meat choices were limited, with no lamb or pork options, just chicken and 4 types of beef - with one of these already off the menu by the time we arrived at 2:15pm. They also didn't have any English Mustard, which seemed a bit of an oversight considering they had so much beef on the menu. Overall we were a disappointed, as we definitely had higher expectations of the venue and the food. Not the best pub roast experience, but not the worst either.

A week ago my daughter had her wedding reception in the upstairs room. The whole thing from initial enquiry to the big day was great, the staff are relaxed and helpful.the food was brilliant, most of our guests had beef wellington and raved about it. particular mention to waiter Kevin who really helped the day go smoothly. Would highly recommend The Phene for a wedding reception.

Wow where do i start… The Phene is just phenomenal. The venue was so BEAUTIFUL all my guests were so impressed! I organised a bridal shower and we had 27 guests, it was the perfect size. I was stunned when i walked in, the pictures online dont do it justice (I recommend visiting!) it was a bright summers day and the natural light lit up the beautiful decor. The staff were SO HELPFUL they literally came to my car to help me bring all the decor in the venue. They were so kind and polite. We was allocated to staff members who helped me decorate, serve food and drinks. I couldn't have chosen a better venue. We opted for a 3 course set menu for £40 each - it was well worth it! Food tasted 5* we had no complaints! I definitely will be using The Phene for more future events!

The food prices are very reasonable considering it's a posh pub in a posh area, but we were disappointed with our Sunday roast. The flavours were outstanding and the plate was piled high but the parsnips and broccoli were almost raw. It was not possible to cut through the parsnip. Some potatoes had such thick cooked skin that they couldn't be cut either.

Overpowering smell of incense which clogged the senses. No seating available, and when asked if our group could sit in the newly opened garden area, we were strangely told that we were welcome to smoke but couldnt sit in the area at all. When we arrived we were shown to a table in the restaurant section that was right next to a crowded table which wasn't 1 metre apart. The table we eventually sat at was opposite a disabled toilet that wasn't clearly marked where many customers were using it. The quality of food and drink was fine.

Terrible service. We had to ask twice or three times for every single part of the meal - tap waters, menus, drinks, desert menus. Appreciate they’re busy because of Covid but when we complained nobody even apologised - they just questioned why we weren’t paying the service charge. Disappointing experience.

The atmosphere and drinks were lovely, excellent Margaritas. Unfortunately the food was a let down. Three of us ordered the cod, it was so over cooked and they crayfish was very unpleasant. Another person ordered the gnocchi which was 5 pieces of thick substance that tasted like bark so sadly we all sent the food back. As a replacement we then ordered burgers. These were better but very greasy and covered in thick butter. The staff were excellent and removed the cost of the food from our bill. I would recommend for drinks in Chelsea but will not be going back to eat.

Welcoming, unique pub serving delicious, imaginative food for all dietary requirements. We sat in the garden and had the pleasure in watching a small wedding taking place, which, was uplifting to see as we return to a little normality. Despite how busy the pub was the service was exceptional, Sam, our table host was very attentive and helpful. Unbeknown to us there was a misunderstanding with our bill which could not have been handled more generously and efficiently by the General Manager. We look forward to returning on our next visit to Chelsea.

I took a couple of people for lunch today, and we had a great time. Prices (apart from for beer which was a bit high) were on par with other local pubs, but the quality of food was much higher. Lovely service, excellent bouillabaisse (although when I used to live in Marseille it always came with boiled potatoes cooked in the stock which help break up the richness, maybe that’s not done now) and very good desserts too. My friends loved their beef cheek pies, and we went on happy. Nice restoration, the strap line is ‘club like’ - now, I’m a member of a few clubs and really this is ‘pub like’, but I guess it’s marketing, and whatever, it’s not been turned into ten tiny flats, so call it what you want haha

What a lovely venue for our wedding reception! We had to reschedule once, and keep on top of ever-changing guidelines due to the pandemic, and the staff were incredibly helpful throughout. They accommodated special requests and made sure the Brydon Room was set up for us beautifully. Last but not least - the food was absolutely delicious, despite their menu changing on short notice due to supplier issues upon reopening in early 2021.

The Phene hosted our office Christmas party in one of their private rooms. Sam, the Events Manager was efficient at co-ordinating our requests, and Samantha and Kevin took really great care of us all evening. The food was tasty and the room decorated tastefully. The team had a great time! Thank you to the Phene and team!

Hosted a small corporate event here. 20 guests. Everything ran smoothly. Food order correct. We sat outside on two separate tables. Staff were consistently friendly and very attentive. Alex was fantastic, super friendly, and helpful. The step out into the outside area is a bit dangerous and one of our colleagues fell on it.

Nice outdoor area if the weather is ok. Staff to customer ratio is pretty low. Good food.

Really nice pub in a great location (off the beaten track so you only know its there of you know its there!). Nice selection of drinks (taps, cocktails etc.) and delicious bar snacks which perfectly accompany the sipping and chatting. All of the staff really friendly, polite and helpful. Its only let down, through no fault of the staff working, is the seated service only which just means everything takes longer than expected/hoped. Would definitely be back but would simply give myself more time. Thanks for a nice evening!

Recommended from a friend, we came here wanting a Sunday roast which did not disappoint. Service was quick and attentive. I ordered the roast pork which was just so delicious, and the setting was just what you’d hope for in a gastro pub.

Great place! The food was ok, but the pie was cold inside! Maybe because we visited the pub on Sunday evening.

I was on Saturday 20/05 with my wife and it was a fantastic experience! Even without reserving a table, the pub's entourage was super kind and put us at an amazing table in the Garden. The waiting time was short and we sat at the bar on very comfortable stools! The extremely and super polite Hostess, Robert, accommodate us from the Bar to the outside area and served us with great france service skill the entire time! The food is fantastic and the beer was super fresh and deliciously cold!!

Didn’t feel welcomed at the pub at all. Not sure if it was because they just had a wedding going on but the waitress made me feel uncomfortable on several occasions. Overall the food was ok. The ambiance not great but I loved the decor. Overall experience 1*.

I celebrated my intimate civil ceremony in the Oakley room at the Phene over the weekend, and it was magical!! The room, service and food were all outstanding. Thank you so much to the Phene for being so organised and professional right from the beginning and helping make our day so special. A special shout-out to Sophia who was so patient with us whilst we were deciding on the different spaces, and Inigo who was taking care of us on the day. 10/10 and would definitely recommend!!

This was a truly terrible experience. Arrived for 19.00 booking for 10 to be told the table was 5 minutes away from being ready. We were put at a temporary table big enough for only 6 so 4 of us had to stand up for 30 MINUTES. The pub was very hot, unventilated and with no functioning air conditioning. At our temporary table we had music but also a TV blaring out the Wimbledon coverage. Very stressful. We asked for it to be turned off/down multiple times and nothing happened. Very stressful 30 minutes. Then we got to our table. Even hotter, the air conditioner had clearly not been serviced in a long time and was pouring water (thus this wet space taking up one of the 10 places at yet table) My place required a contortionists suppleness to get in an out. Menus arrived ONE HOUR after the booked time and when my steak eventually arrived it did not have the accompanying sauce. I asked 3 times for the sauce and it never arrived. The staff were all lovely and were trying hard. It's not their fault. Not enough staff and criminally poor ventilation. Horrible. Truly horrible. Thankfully with great friends who we love.

The staff were lovely and friendly. The food however was really poor, I ordered a Sunday roast and I can quite honestly say it was awful. The worst I have ever had . The roast potatoes, well they should have been served with a chainsaw and tasted worse that I expected (so that’s saying something). The meat was undercooked I like medium and I don’t mind blood but this was tough, blue and swimming in gravy. It was whisked off without asking how it was at the end and my plate was pretty full.

Absolutely incredible roast dinner! Loved the pub, the staff were very friendly and attentive. Fantastic day out with family. Seriously though, the roast chicken was superb. Lot of food and taste for your money!
