Named after the Fort St George pub near its southern end. The unusual name of the pub, commonly abbreviated to just 'Fort St George', but, now better known as The Fort reflects a supposed resemblance to the East India Company's Fort St George at Madras (now Chennai) in India. This bridge is now open for use by cyclists.

Pleasant venue by the water - though note that not all of the tables have a water view. We had a veggie Sunday roast, a lamb Sunday roast and a chicken starter platter (intended for 2 people - pictured). Overall quite happy with the food with just a few niggles - the chips were not rosemary salted as proclaimed by the menu and we had not consented to having ordinary chips instead; the lamb itself was small and chewy; and the Yorkshire puddings were hard as old boots. But the veg, chicken and gravy were all pleasant. On service, we were seen promptly enough at the bar despite it being a busy Sunday lunchtime, though we were not all served our food at the same time (I know one was a starter, but we did ask for it all to come out at the same time) which is obviously a little antisocial, items were not cleared for us and one bar worker had a hacking cough which made us a little uncomfortable. Prices were ok given the location, brightness of the interior, avoidance of crowding.

This is a great pub in front of Midsummer Common. The service is good, they have a good variety of drinks, and food is really good. They have two terraces. One is near the river, which is nice but usually busy and not easy to find a table, and the other one is in front of the Midsummer Common. Would definitely recommend it!!

Beautiful pub by the river. Plenty of outdoor seating. Some good lighting for the evening. Good selection of food options. Usual drinks options.

A very busy and popular riverside pub. A lot of the tables were booked so that's probably the thing to do if you want to make sure you get a table. The pub is on different levels but there is plenty of level space for wheelchairs. It's a child and a dog friendly pub. The food is great and there wasn't much of a wait even though they were busy.

Visited three years ago and would happily have rated good or excellent, but sadly I was disappointed. Food was not vfm and my partner's fries were so heavily salted he struggled to eat them. Yes we were asked if everything was ok, and we did tell the staff member it wasn't, but no offer was made to put it right. I will not be eating there again. Drinks were fine.

Nice pub with large outdoor sitting! Very friendly staff and good selection of beers and ales. Unfortunately many main dishes not available at 7:00 today … on the back side banks and tables facing towards the canal with it’s narrowboats They claim even William and Kate were here .. also we had a nice last evening dinner here before going back to Germany 🇩🇪…

I usually don't eat lamb because I'm really not fond of it but the roast lamb here is actually good. Also, I enjoyed the view of the river while having our roast. Of course, it was a Sunday ;)

One of the best pubs I've ever been to! Amazing, I don't have enough words to describe it. Excellent burgers, fish and chips, garlic bread, you name it! (They have vegan menu as well). Highly recommend! Please, make yourself a favor and try out one of their craft beer!

Cracking pub right next to the Cam, in a great position on Midsummer Common. Spot on for a sunny day, with lots of outside seating. The food was great! Korean chicken burger was a highlight. Will definitely be back!

Lovely location next to the Cam river. Great outside seating for the day and evening. Food was really lovely, only reason it’s not 5/5 is because most dishes were unavailable. Fish and chip+mac and cheese below!

Really great pub with tons of atmosphere. Just had a light snack, which was delicious and tasty. Also value for money - not evident nowadays. Would recommend. Dog friendly as well throughout. Worth a visit.

A brilliant pub by the river Cam, with great service from all the staff. Booked a table for 8, the service and atmosphere was top notch. Food was amazing value, beer at sensible prices too. Highly recommend this pub. Cannot wait to return in the summer!

Beautiful location next to the river and close proximity to several boat clubs with a bridge to cross. Lots of outdoor seating and a wide selection of food to suit most dietary requirements. Staff are very friendly and will accommodate most things if asked nicely ;)

A sweet pub overlooking the water, not far from the college boat houses, also backing onto the green. As a fan of Camden Brewery, I was delighted to find their pale ale on draught. Extensive indoor and outdoor seating, peaceful and relaxing

Beautiful setting on a summer afternoon, long wait time for food but they were very busy so to be expected! Amazing vegan burgers :)

I still can’t get over how large this pub is, with a sizeable indoor dining area and so many tables outside in different areas. The prize location for me though are the few tables on the bank of the river. It’s a great spot watching the boats pass by and although there’s lots of walkers and cyclists too they never seemed bothersome. Service inside was fast and friendly with all the areas appearing clean and well kept. The food menu has a decent enough range for the weekend although a few more smaller dishes, such as sandwiches, wouldn’t go amiss. Service of main meals was quick though, especially considering how busy the place was, and the quality pretty good. The scampi and chips was a sizeable portion and despite not coming with the option of mushy or garden peas was very tasty. Sauces are in bottles but the staff were good at checking everything was alright, so if you need additional items they’re easy to obtain. Overall it’s a great relaxing spot in a prime location. Prices were as you’d expect and I would happily return again, either for drinks or a meal.

On a Friday afternoon most tables were booked, but there were a few in the bar area that were free. These quickly filled up with couples and small groups playing board games. Really lovely atmosphere for a late afternoon drink.

Waited for 45 min for the Sunday roast and the food came out lukewarm. To be fair,I would give 3and half

Fine pub with nice outdoor area looking onto the river and midsommer common. Good for value can get a bit crowded in the evenings. Food is really nice and well cooked. Go here to unwind.

Lovely location and service was quick. Food is pretty standard Greene King fare but wasn't too pricey at around £10 per main. Unfortunately a few things weren't available on thr menu. Only other small qualm was that despite it not being that busy, none of our plates or glasses were cleared away, so 45 minutes after we'd finished we still had our plates in front of us.

Wonderful riverside pub that my son and I stumbled upon. The food was delicious and the service perfect. Thanks to Guy who was really helpful with a lovely manner. We will be visiting again soon.
