Really lovely pub with good choices of sandwiches, pub classics and continental choices. Had the lamb liver and moules etc frites in a cider chorizo broth, really good. Including 3 pints came to 51 pounds, tips are explicitly not added to the bill so it's at your discretion

Cosy country pub, delicious food and great service. Sat outside under cover and felt cosy on a rainy day. Loads of different soft drink options too. Dog friendly. Great views even on a wet day.

Very nice pub, great location and lovely service. Food was great, including my vegan burger that was really delicious. Only beers we didn’t like that much, mainly because they were way too warm… but maybe it’s just us. We love cold ones. A part from that we had a great time and enjoyed the food as well as the view upon the valley. Definitely recommended.

A really excellent spot to warm by the fire or sit in the sun and enjoy views of the Surrey hills. Delicious food and a beautiful rustic interior. Pictured is the Calamari which was fresh and well seasoned. A touch on the pricey side at around £15 per main dish, but that’s Surrey for you. Would recommend parking at the bottom of the hill in the spaces outside the Italian restaurant. Going up any further is a pothole and hill start adventure. Many people pair this visit with a box hill ramble.

Lovely pub with terraced garden and friendly service. I had a great pie and veggies and it was delicious. Far reaching view over the hills around, a trail over box hill start (or finish) at the pub’s door, perfect to end a hike with a pint.

A hidden gem of a place. Sunday roasts are very good value. Take cash for staff tips.

Really lovely spot with easily one of the best vegan roasts we have tried. Everyone was friendly and they welcomed walk ins from hikers, families and cyclists. They only accept cash tips and very much deserve them, so please bear that in mind when you come We will absolutely come back!

Pub with nice location and views. Ordered fish which was fantastic. They had a local lager which was fab.

Great spot to end a hike around box hill. There was a good selection of local beers and traditional pub favourite meals such as fish and chips, burgers and pies. Food was good but service lacked that extra bit of finesse due to younger, inexperienced servers. Enjoyed our visit nonetheless and would recommend.

As always, our recent visit was perfect! The staff are always very friendly and helpful, and the lovely youngsters always welcome us with a smile and have a very pleasant attitude. The food is always amazing (the lamb roast is out of this world), and the delicious desserts never fail to please. In the warmer weather it is such a pleasure to sit outside on the delightful terrace with beautiful views, and when the weather turns colder, the interior is always warm and cosy, especially when the fire is going strong! It's a pleasure all year round to eat at the wonderful King William IV.

Really lovely lamb shoulder - the whole meal was lovely and tasty - especially the mint sauce. Service was good though would definitely book (as can get quite busy)

Food was very nice I was with two others. Was on a Sunday and had to book. Had two roast beefs and a roast lamb for mains and calamari to start.. Could not fault the food. Staff friendly and accommodating. Just could be a little more attentive as we found we had to ask for knives forks and and other items... It was pretty busy. Would go again.

On the way back from the hiking, we found this pub. It is a lovely place on the hill with a great view. Today is very sunny so it is crowded. There is live music by the local band which is lovely and give extra vibe for the place. We ordered small plates chips and calamari; both were really nice. Calamari is one of the best for the pub foods that we had. We really recommend a pint. The staffs are very responsive and service is quite fast even though it is crowded.

We visited this pub after doing the Box Hill walk. Come here for the ambience (overlooking the hills) and be pleasantly surprised by the quality of the excellent menu and selection of beverages. Service here was attentive and friendly. The ideal pub to refuel mid or post-walk - will definitely visit here when in the Box Hill area.

Beautiful looking pub and staff was friendly. The food was terrible, our son chose pizza, this was rather burnt on top with the base still being raw dough. The burgers appeared lovely until trying to eat them, patties had been seared on the outside but were raw inside with plenty of blood oozing out. I wish I could select 0 stars but the minimum is 1. Will never go back there.

The pub has beautiful views, and many of the customers are people who have just gone for a hike. It’s also a dog friendly pub. The staff are also very lovely. That being said, service is lacking. A number of times we asked for things and were forgotten and needed to ask again, despite it not being busy at the time. The food is a hit or miss. The pie of the day as well as banofee pie were good. The salmon was the most underwhelming that I’ve had in a restaurant. In terms of parking, don’t try to park on the hill as it’s very difficult to find spots as well as get out. You can find parking at the bottom of the hill in front of 51 Degrees North or off the carriageway on the grass.

Loving pub in a beautiful location, fantastic views, independent pub, lovely staff and the best ploughman's I have ever had

I enjoy the kind of complaints that I read, because it means that if I have lower expectations I might be able to get a table easier… Does that make sense? I loved the food, the ambiance, and the service. I went with my daughter after doing half of our hike. A couple of pints and I lovely pastry filled with meat vegetables gravy classic British fare. A spectacular view, and all in all it was a lovely day.

A nice cosy pub on top of a hill. We came here for a Sunday Roast in the middle of a Box Hill circular walk. The food was very nice by pub standards and the staff were friendly. I would recommend!

Myself and partner had a lovely lunch here after a walk around Box Hill. First thing to note, if you want to leave a tip make sure you bring a bit of cash! They make very good reason as to why they don't do card tips but unfortunately we didn't have any cash on us. The food was delicious. The burger was a great classic pub burger and my partner's ploughmans was gigantic. The service provided by Georgia and Sam was excellent, so a big thank you to them both. Lastly, the location is awesome, a really lovely view from the terrace/garden spot. We'll definitely be coming back!

A nice pub with an excellent terrace. Good Sunday roast and a good selection of local beers.

Really charming find, a cosy pub a little up the hillside with a lot of outdoor tables, many under shelter, with great views over the valley. Tasty and well presented food, I had the Sunday Roast lamb which was tender and tasty. Really friendly and helpful team of servers. We'll definitely be back.

I recently visited the King William IV pub in Dorking and what a magical place it is. Tucked away in some glorious countryside, the pub has great views, a relaxed atmosphere and welcoming staff. The pub has a number of outside terraces, perfect for catching the sun or equally sitting in the shade. The food was excellent (calamari, followed by duck salad) and all at a very reasonable price. The staff were attentive and extremely friendly. I would highly recommend if you are ever in this part of the world, well worth a visit or two.

Lovely garden on different levels, def not for anyone with waking disabilities as it's up about 20 steps, parking outside not many spaces but you can park on the main road apparently... don't drive up expecting a parking place, dead end and you'll have to reverse all the way back down a narrow lane. Only had sandwiches but very nice . Lovely views recommended 👌
