Lovely setting with splendid good served in a dog-friendly panelled dining room with pictures and trophies from the original owner, Mr Siemens (of the engineering firm). For starters a classic home-made scotch egg with a mustard sauce was delicious. This followed by sea bream on a creamed potato base that was heavenly. Then an indulgence of mixed ices. Can recommend the combo of honeycomb, Devon clotted cream and vanilla a. The staff were very pleasant

The welcome ambience and service were brilliant. Couldn't fault it. Starters very good, mains had slight 'but'. Pie and mash excellent but kale rather chewy, lamb chops excellent but asparagus tough. Sticky toffee pudding nice but we had an end bit which was rather dry. None of these niggles spoiled a very very nice evening with mainly quality food. A disappointment was the glassware which while not dirty, wasn't sparkling. Please note, we're being picky, overall a very pleasant experience and good value for money.

This is a grand place to stay. Our room had a fabulous sea view, and was very elegant and spacious. Interesting building history too - once the Beach House of the Siemens family - late Victorian era. Busy, informal restaurant and inside/outside options with a menu to suit all. Dog friendly !

What a super place. Fabulous outdoor terrace, plenty of shade which was very welcome today when the temps hit 30 degrees. Relaxed lunch with an old friend, admiring the views. We had a really tasty and fresh mackerel salad. Will definitely be back. Pic is from the clifftop which is a 30 second walk - overlooking the Isle of Wight . Will definitely be back. Super friendly staff too 😃

Interesting old hotel, pub, restaurant. Food very good. Nice doing rooms but really comes into its own when the sun shines. Lovely terrace and some gardens where you can rest and drink. With short walk to the cliff and down to beach.

Beautiful grade 2 listed building. Stunning interior. Excellent rooms, ours had a great view of the Isle of Wight. Very comfortable too. The evening meal was fine but the service was very slow. The wine was served too warm, and on our second night, despite mentioning the problem, the wine arrived at the same temperature but with more ice, which didn't solve the problem. Service was quicker on the second night. Breakfast was extremely excellent in all respects.

One of my favourite locations for coffee and cake combined with a cliff top walk. Had a huge piece of chocolate cake and coffee for a very reasonable £3.95 (current deal price). Both were very tasty. My wife also enjoyed her lemon drizzle cake.

Lovely place to stay. Room was very well laid out, and very clean. Bathroom was clean and tidy. Breakfast was filling, if on the small side. I'm sure if you asked for a bigger portion they would have accommodated. Only down side really was that there wasn't a chest of drawers to put shirts, jumpers, etc. in the room (No. 21).

My lovely partner and I spent Valentines Day evening here, and were very taken with the fabulous architecture and decor of this wonderful building. A very comfortable, relaxed atmosphere, we were served by George who was the embodiment of friendliness, attentiveness and good service. Our experience was really positive and the food was delicious, with sizeable portions. Definitely a place we will return to. Try it yourselves, you will not be disappointed.

This is a gem of an Arts and Crafts building. Apparently the summer home of a wealthy family - how I'd like to go back in time and see it then. I had a glass of cider in the garden with my three dogs and took a quick walk through the small grounds to the seafront. The menu looked good - might eat here next time.

We came here for lunch during a Thursday in half term. Lovely place. We were welcomed by staff and given a table immediately even though we arrived early. The children were given great little goodie bags to keep them busy. Some of the food was excellent (crispy, homemade scotch eggs highly recommended) but the main courses mixed (burgers for the children and steak sandwich were ok; halloumi wrap wasn’t). The real issue was timing. We arrived at 12:30 and by 2pm we still didn’t have our main courses. The starters took 45-50 mins to arrive - even things like olives weren’t bought to the table until then. It was too long for the children to wait.

We have been to this pub/ Restaurant in the pass and always enjoyed the experience. This time the sevice was not what we expected very close to rude and not a warm welcome. The food was well below average and very disappointing. Will probably not return when next in area, it a shame.

Just stopped by for breakfast. Amazing food, but more importantly, staff were incredibly helpful and accommodating. Had a walk to beach after - very close and incredible views. Matt (manager) stands out for incredible service. Thanks.

Came here for a meal, absolutely superb fish and chips probably the best I have ever eaten in a restaurant. Wonderful seating in the garden in beautiful surroundings, definitely the first of many visits.

Walking past, we came across this large tidy establishment with our dog. We were greeted in the car park by a large sign showing a wellington boot and a dog, so we thought it the ideal place for a beer. On walking through the main door the first thing you see is a bowl of water to which our dog immediately took to. Then we were brashly approached by the food server telling us in an abrupt manner that this is for the cat, Lancelot only. We explained that there is nothing to say that and it is the first thing you see when walking through the door. It was getting confrontational so we decided to immediately leave. The customer listening even raised his eyebrows. My review is based on feeling not feeling welcome and the poor way we were spoken too. We did not give them the opportunity to serve us as we did not feel at all welcome. Why not have a mat under the bowl saying 'cat only' as a bowl on the follow with water in it usually indicates a dog water bowl. I'm not a mind reader.

Been here in the summer and it's a great location and has lovely views. But met a friend for a drink midweek and we felt there were rather odd seating arrangements. Staff were helpful, offering to put on a heater in a conservatory room but it felt very out of the way! We eventually sat in the dining area that they had just closed, but as it's not a "pub" we felt they wanted to close up early! We would go back, but probably in the summer!

Family room was so spacious with double bedroom and cot, bathroom and twin bedroom! Beautiful sea view The hotel also had beautiful views and easy access to the beach. The service was great, very friendly staff. The food and drinks were excellent too!

Went for a meal with family. Lovely view of Isle of Wight. Food was good! Staff really nice, gave us a tour of other rooms. Daughter had a surprise proposal so all in all a good night. Thank you 😊

Very enjoyable celebration dinner (son's 21st birthday). Well cooked food and friendly service. Only minor gripe was twice only half our plates were taken away and the other half left on the table for a further 5-10 minutes. All plates should be cleared together. Otherwise, a great night out.

Had the slow cooked beef spare ribs in the restaurant. I was expecting something that looked identifiable as a spare rib but was just served up a stew. One or two bits of beef but the rest was just a mush and unpleasantly salty. I suspect it was made many days ago and just reheated day after day. Thus the mushy consistency of any vegetables and concentated salt. Any good chef should know the consequences of this. Overpriced, indifferent food and the manager came across as a bit surly and unfriendly. Waitress we're good and friendly though. Will we go back? No.

Lovely pub with nice garden and fantastic location next to the beach. Service can be a little slow but otherwise well worth a visit.

Third time eating here, this time for my partners birthday. Matt and his team went above and beyond to accommodate us and make sure everything was excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals and we come here every time we visit Milford-on-Sea

The beach house (formerly known as Westover Hall) is a glorious building with lots of history and quirks. The rooms are lovely, with some good sea views available in some of them. The staff are friendly and helpful. The food and drinks available are great. And the location is fabulous too - especially if you want to have a swim in the sea or a windy walk along the coast. We will be back.

One of my favourite places to visit. It has a lovely beach walk of around 20 minutes to a couple of hours depending on what you want. Has customer parking but does get busy Sundays. Very friendly staff. Shout out to Stuart who is funny and accommodating and made our stay more enjoyable.

Lovely pub which I’ve visited many times. Past twice we have found their standards of service woeful. Today, tried to order drinks. One staff member - completely clueless. Waited over 15 minutes. Spoke to the maitre d. So not interested. Ended up leaving and going to the Lazy Lion. Excellent service. Great food.

Dreadful....very expensive room, lovely bathroom and view however cleanliness of surfaces in bedroom left a lot to be desired. Room wasn't serviced by 3.00 pm awful...Breakfast cheap and nasty, toast served on same plate as food...evening meal, fish smelt stale...horrible experience...no mask wearing by staff, know its not obligatory at the moment but first hotel we have stayed where staff did not wear them...felt everything below standard...Brewery owned....not good...

Stayed for 2 nights in June. Really disappointed. Carpet hadn’t been vacuumed and the bathroom floor was not swept. Requested this be put right, however the bathroom still needed to be swept after they said it had been done. The mattress was very hard and the pillows smelt terrible & were uncomfortable. I had two very poor nights sleep. Bathroom very tatty. Shower was a joke - like being spat on. The housekeeper tried to come in when we had put the ‘do not disturb’ sign out. Feel a bit ripped off to be honest. Young male staff member with the beard gets the stars for being really helpful and welcoming.

This used to be a first class hotel and restaurant. Its grandeur is a little faded these days. However its still a nice experience we had a nice tea and cake. The rest of the customers seemed to be enjoying their lunch , the burgers and fish finger baguettes looked great. Nice views across to isle of Wight and staff very attentive and jolly.

Lovely lunch sat outside overlooking the sea. Friendly service, great menu, delicious food & dog friendly. Very peaceful setting. We were lucky to get a table outside on the terrace at short notice. Highly recommended, this place is a little gem. Plenty of space on the lawn for children to run around with a perfect climbing tree!

It seems that now the holidaymakers have gone the quality of the food has gone down. The very tasty pies now seem to have gristly meat and the fish is sparse and overcooked in the batter. Great shame as it was not acknowledged by a senior member of staff.

Awful visit yesterday. I have dined here several times but sadly never again. I had booked a table on 27 February for lunch on 25 March. On arrival I was told we would be seated in the bar as the restaurant was full. I questioned why there was no table available in the restaurant as I had booked. I was told my booking came through as 12 midnight even though I had confirmation of a 12.45pm booking and had followed up with a phone call to change the booking to 1pm and had been told it had been amended. I was informed there was no table available in the restaurant until 4pm. We were eventually moved into the restaurant to have our meal. The restaurant then promptly emptied and it was only ourselves and one other table in the restaurant. So much for being full until 4pm. Also no lamb available and reduced choice on the menu. Such a shame as this place used to be wonderful. If you're thinking of dining here now, don't bother.

This was our first visit to The Beach House and were very impressed. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The meal itself was superb. We will certainly be going back on a regular basis. Very good value for money.

Waitress gave us menus and said they served food until 9.00pm but only on the terrace. I pointed to the table and she said it was ok. Picked food off the menu and went inside to order. I was told they had finished serving food outside. He asked if we wanted to dine inside. I said I did not and left. Went to the Smugglers Inn a mile up the road. Lovely meal and service there.

I have been here a few times both for evening meals and, more recently for breakfast. On my last visit I wanted to book a room for my friend to stay. When I enquired the guy behind the desk (Stewart/Stuart I think his name was) took the time to show me the available rooms and offer very helpful advice. The food is very good and service excellent. The place is an amazing grade 2 listed building with stunning views over the Solent. A place steeped in history having literally been a 'beach house' for the Siemens family at the turn of the century. A lovely place to eat or just visit for a drink...

Just had a fabulous meal at the Beech House. Excellent welcome, service and atmosphere. Had a window seat in restaurant and watched the sun go down. Such wonderful views. Highly recommend this place 😊

Superb location with wonderful views of the Needle's. An absolutely delightful decor and quirky bar area with loads of covers both inside and out. Rooms are clean well appointed and spacious. To top it all off helpful caring staff to put the icing on the cake. I would most definitely recommend.

We recently invited some discerning friends to spend a couple of days near us and, after much thought, booked them in to the Beach House. What an absolute delight the hotel is with friendly staff, beautiful views and lovely food. Much to our relief our friends now consider it a "must go to" place and are looking forward to staying there again soon.

Stopped here for lunch. We both ordered a cheese and onion bap.when it arrived it looked really nice with a salad garnish. Got about half way through then realised there was no onion in it! Staff were friendly and helpful and our dog was very welcome would have been 5 stars had we had onion!

Good menu and range of wines/beers/ciders. Quirky comfortable hotel with friendly staff, especially Megan who made us very welcome. So good that we kept going back for lunch, whilst on holiday last week. They welcome dogs, so ideal place to eat and drink after a walk along the cliffs.

  • 1/5 Debra S. 9 months ago on Google
The reason for a visit to Beach House was to celebrate the lives of our friends. We were shown to a dark wood panelled room, we were not expected to be having a welcome cup of tea, it was 45 minutes before we were brought tea, and almost an hour before the sandwiches were brought in. The staff were not interested in our group at all. The sandwiches were delicious. However, the hotel manager needs to upgrade his attention to detail.
