Lovely country pub in a traditional Northants village. Northants orange stone on the outside and low ceilings with lots of wood and nooks and crannies.A stone archway opens into a walled courtyard, perfect for a summer day. There is a separate garden at the back with nice tables and benches. Service was quick and friendly. Haven't eaten there yet so can't comment on the food. Good for a.country club choice.

Pretty lovely pub with a heritage feel. Drinks are fine, prices reasonable and the food is definitely worth coming back for. If you like a place with well separated dining and drinking areas, but still feeling like you are in the same establishment, this will go down well. Pizzas are on the menu but only available on some days... Mine was delicious even if the shape was a bit odd (see picture). Grown up food is available too 😃

Can never ever fault this place. Staff and food are amazing. Saturday was so busy but received our food within half an hour. Definitely recommend the Lamb shank and chocolate brownie. YUMMY

Lovely pub with great staff , unfortunately for us ( three people) disappointed at the amount of dogs allowed. Disgusting smell actually, not sure how you can allow so many animals when you are serving food . Although today no food was being served. Hope to come back soon but without the dog smell?

I visited tonight for dinner with my parents. I'm not usually one to leave reviews but we had such a nice time I just had to. The food was lovely, the staff were so welcoming, and the pub itself is so cosy and inviting. Thankyou for a great evening. We'll definitely be back again, with the dog next time!

Really lovely Pub. Atmosphere is always warm and welcoming. Food is home cooked and I've always left feeling like I've eaten well. Have been before and will go again, think that says enough...

Food was delicious, fresh, nobody leaves hungry. Really nicely refurbished, it still feels like an cosy old fashioned pub. We will definitely be back.

Ordered Sunday lunch which came quite quickly. I think they use the size of the very large Yorkshire pudding to disguise the fact that you dont get very much in your plate! I had the beef and got 2 small slices, the friend I was with got 1 thick slice. And it was lukewarm!!! I would normally tell the staff but didnt want to be impolite with the friend I was with. And genuinely not moaning for moaning sake but the lighting in the back corner near the fire was terrible. On the positive, the waitress that served us was lovely and friendly. I know they've only been open 2 weeks so hopfully these things can be rectified as the pub is lovely and charming and in a beautiful village.

Dis-appointed ! Went for a sunday lunch, should have stayed at home. Starter was weird, onion badji..a strange one! Roast potatoes, still white, veg, roasted to the point of burnt! Presentation of Mains was just a tower of food inside an empty plate. Wont be returning. Looks like we'll be heading back to the hoping hare 👌

Dining room looks better not so fir the rest of the pub, it's lost the original olde worlde charm, looks like a scruffy town pub now!

I had the Philly stake sandwich and it was great. Althorpe is a hidden gem anyway. The Althorp Coaching inn is a cosy place that keeps the atmosphere of old coach inns. The food is delicious and carefully cooked and service is good. So if you visit the nearby castle, have the lunch here. Everything is on point.

The coaching in has a lovely atmosphere. Old beam ceilings and log burning fire. Also some lovely outdoor covered seating areas. The Sunday roast was delicious and the vegetables cooked al dente. Mum and I asked for a small serving which was just right and meant we could enjoy the delicious puddings. Both the panna cote and sticky toffee were fabulous. I think I can honestly say it was the best sticky toffee pudding I have ever had. Thank you Althorp.

Great pub, wish this was my local! Even though it was a very busy father's day, the food and service were good. Very dog friendly too, which was a real bonus.

Booked a meal for Valentines for my Wife and 2 daughters. Recommended by a work colleague. Excellent meal, warm inviting restaurant, sat by the log burner which was lovely. Staff were friendly and attentive. Highly recommend.

Fantastic transformation / refurbishment. Has retained the charm of the historic building but had a much needed de-clutter and smarten-up. Lunch was excellent and the garden and courtyard are just as nice as I remember. Great place to go in any weather and staff/management were friendly and welcoming. Lovely to see it back open and looking so good. Could do with just a few little toys in the garden or covered snug (play kitchen?) for those with toddlers / that would definitely help me with returning as places rarely cater to help families eat out.

I cannot speak highly enough of Matt and the team at the Althorp Coaching Inn. We had our wedding reception at the pub a few weeks ago and they were superb. We planned our wedding in 8 weeks and they were so accommodating, especially considering the timeframe. We planned everything from Australia where we now live and Matt made it so easy for us. We didn't get many photos of the inside space but it looked very pretty with fairy lights, flowers and the traditional cobbled floors and old beams. All of our guests spoke highly of the food, we had a BBQ on the rainiest day of the summer but it was perfect! The food was lovely, especially after a few beers it was great wedding food. Our guests were all very taken with the pretty pub and surrounding village. Throughout the evening the team were awesome, so friendly, they cut the cakes up for us and communicated with us to keep us on top of the bar tab spend. Overall, we were so happy with the day and can't thank Matt and the team enough :)

Beautiful pub. Lovely staff. Stunning village. Lots of history. .. wasn’t too impressed with the sole. Full of bones. So it was hard to eat. Although. When the staff asked how our dinner was, we said it was fine. Nice court yard, grass seating, plenty of parking at the rear. Nice clean toilets. It’s a nice snug pub. Dog friendly!!! Definitely a rovers return. #Buddyfriendlypubs #Walkswithbuddy #Roobysvillagetour

Great little pub with fantastic food. We opted for a Sunday lunch/dinner for a first time visit. Honestly cannot stop thinkinga about the goats cheese bruschetta! My husband devoured his lamb koftas. Both opted for the roast beef, great portion size and plenty of gravy too. Additional side of pigs in blankets. Be warned, these are 3 full sized sausages. Not your tiddly cocktail! And delicious!! Only note for me was the roast potatoes were not very warm and crispy. But overall still good. Will definitely go back to try some other menu options.

I wouldn’t recommend this place. Although the staff are friendly and polite and the place/decor is cute and atmospheric, the food was disappointing. Considering the prices of this place, we were expecting the food to be lovely, however… the pie was dry, not a lot of meat, and had no taste/flavour and did not come with seasoned vegetables as the menu stated (just broccoli that’s it), and the Camembert did not come with grape chutney as the menu stated (a super sour cranberry sauce instead which wasn’t great). Also had to sit in my coat for the first hour as they must have thought 1 small log on a small log burner would heat up the entire restaurant and didn’t have any heating on? I would actually expect better food from a Greene king chain restaurant or something, very annoyed to have paid all this money for something bland and different to the menu!

Love this pub. Just reopened after being closed for a while. Very friendly place with nice staff, only to happy to help. Great place to grab and drink and something to eat, especially if you are walking in the area. Dog friendly as well. Stunning pub.

Visited on reopening and again recently. The more mature lady in the restaurant was very friendly, attentive and knowledgeable about both menu and drinks. However bar staff were lounging on the bar talking to each other and seemed uninterested unless you are a regular. Bar tables not clean. We were served a bottle of Barolo at £45.00, dusty straight from the cellar cold with no apology. Disappointed to say the least won't be recommending. Management need to look into staffing issues

2 large wines £27. Used to be my favourite pub in Northamptonshire. I’d be gutted if I lived next door. Extortionate.

We waited so long for the refurbishment of this our favourite olde worlde pub, sadly the purple paint scheme in the loo and bar area make ie look like a cheap and nasty Daventry pub. This pub has lost its charm and a loyal customer! You have got it wrong for a historical country pub. The front door access was closed, how uninviting is that?!

Booked a table for 8 and was asked to preorder food the day before so they could be ready! Walked in table wasnt even set up. Food was disappointing and only just warm, orders were wrong, maybe they should have asked for 2 days to prepair. Bar service was shocking with hardly no knowledge of the drinks they serve. Wont be going back, waist of time and a Saturday night!

Very old world traditional. I had a lovely ploughman. Service was a but slow out of the kitchen and there were only a few table taken. I feel it could be a problem during busy times. Maybe just give yourself more time. It has a really nice courtyard and garden.

Lovely pub to finish a walk around the local area or just visit for a pint. Friendly staff who are happy to help your choice of beer with a little tester. Lunch meals and sandwiches excellent quality and very competitively priced like the bar. Sometimes difficult to get a seat although in summer there is a nice outside area. Good sized car park, dogs allowed into the bar and a lovely fire place. Something for everyone at the inn.
