My family and I enjoyed a delicious meal at The Taverners last Wednesday evening. Tim and Lexi made us feel very welcome and after a long day sightseeing, we enjoyed relaxing and enjoying the food at this restaurant. My husband and son had the fish and chips and I enjoyed the burger and chips meal along with a special gin cocktail to wash it down with. We would recommend this restaurant to everyone and hope to return there next summer. Thanks to everyone for a delicious meal and excellent customer service. This was my first visit to the Isle of Wight and it’s these sorts of experiences that make wonderful memories.

Absolutely brilliant! Don’t go anywhere else for Sunday lunch, had the best experience. The beef was the best we have ever had, was cooked brilliantly. Everything was incredible, with plenty of options for vegetarians. Would highly recommend and can’t wait to go back.

It was really good ,staff fab the moules were fabulous ,apparently from st austell.one of our party had a suet pie, which is the taverners u.s.p. which he didn't like, the staff dealt with it really really well.good atmosphere, cosy but the toilets need refurbishing.

What a lovely pub! Great service, food and ambience. A good selection of meals, all reasonably priced and enjoyed by our party. At time of writing, table service was still in use for all and the staff were excellent. Attentive and polite.

Absolutely brilliant pub, very attentive service, food was excellent (and massive!). Really good value, and definitely a place we'll come back to next time we visit the Isle of Wight.

We visited the pub for Sunday lunch and were not disappointed. Food was delicious and good value for money. The pub itself is cosy and really nice at this time of year. The staff are really nice and accommodating. The only thing I would change is the red cabbage as it tastes curried and doesn’t really go with the traditional roast. Apart from that I would go back in a heartbeat!

Sunday roast was lovely, only dislike was the red cabbage, it tasted curried & didn't really go well with the rest of the plate. The desserts were really great. Pub itself is really cosy, lovely open fires and the staff were very friendly. I'd definitely recommend if you're in the area.

Absolutely wonderful experience. Superbly helpful, kind and efficient staff who couldn’t do enough to make sure all was well. Food was extremely tasty and good portions. And extremely good value for money! If you’re visiting Godshill, this is definitely a place to visit.

Popped in at lunchtime without a booking and was able to get a table without issue. The staff were very friendly and helpful, we had great service overall. The food was delicious, I had the beef burger and my son had the kids burger which was massive and well appreciated. Can easily recommend this place to anyone.

Nice place and good service, though waitress forgot to mention the specials. Tasty food, but why o why there was so little meat on the beef short rib. Not exactly an expensive meat. I had £20 sirloin steaks that had double the meat. The sauce was very good.

This place is seriously good. Firstly booking was easy and they accommodated us running a bit behind with zero fuss. The food was the best on the island, I had fish and chips, the fish was clearly fresh, light and perfectly cooked with a side of homemade tartar. However, my wife had the mussels from the specials board, which I also tried and I'm not exaggerating to say they were the best we've ever tasted, including in France! The sauce was white wine based, creamy and buttery with caramelised leeks and bacon. Halfway through they fired up a live band who were great and really made it feel like a vibrant pub atmosphere. I wish this place was local to me, will definitely visit again next time I come to the Isle of Wight. Well done to the owners/managers, a very well run outfit.

Excellent Sunday Roast. Table service. Definitely not your 'Run of the mill' meal. Beef tender and vegetables all cooked just right. Well presented. Definitely a chef who takes pride in his/her work. Service was very good too, nothing too much trouble. Dessert was also to a very high standard. I recommend the Sticky Toffee Pudding. Pleasant atmosphere with room between tables so not packed together. Only a small carpark for 4 cars but large carpark at top of Godshill village and only a few minutes walk to The Taverners. Garden area at rear. More expensive than a usual Sunday Carvery but well worth the extra. Dog friendly too with biscuit treats at the bar for your pooch. Recommended, will definitely go back.

While on holiday on the Isle of Wight we decided to revisit a pub we first went to 9 years ago on our first trip there. This time, though, we had two children in tow. A far cry from our carefree childless days. Anyway I digress. We'd booked in advance and upon arrival were shown to our table. Our waiter, a young chap who had recently returned to work after some time off, informed us that it was mussel Friday. Harry, age seven and his mum love mussels so ordered a portion each and I had the same too as not to get food envy, as for George 19mths, he had some chips and mussels from our plates that he smashed down with the table water. £16 got us a kilo of mussels and a glass of wine each. Harry and Stacey (the wife) are not big wine drinkers so we asked if we could swap. And they were happy to do so. The meal was lovely, the beer was excellent and the staff and atmosphere amazing. Not to mention those behind the scenes cooking the food who prepared an excellent meal for us. Recommended

I would highly recommend The Taverners for a meal, the atmosphere is warm and so are the staff. They are very knowledgeable, polite and friendly. All of the meals have something extra to them to elevate them beyond a normal meal and there is such a great range of sides! The cumin and honey carrots were delicious! The olives were also the nicest ones I had, had in a long time. If you like red wine I recommend the red from Puglia, so delicious. The only thing that would give it an extra star for me would be an extra vegetarian option, although, I must admit they do have a great range.

Excellent country pub. We had fish 🐟 and chips 🍟 with diet coke. Love the ambience, staff was very welcoming, excellent service. 👍 its very close to Godshill Model Village. I recommend all visiting tourist to stop over here and enjoy the lovely food and or drinks.

Really friendly atmosphere, food best on island. Very fresh and well cooked top marks to the chef. If I had to say something negative I would say the chairs are squeaky. Not really a bad thing but worth looking at. Apart from that go there you will have the best food on the island and friendly staff. When we return to the island we will come again.

Our yard Christmas meal was held here, a group of eight with a three course meal. As always the welcome was genuinely friendly from the moment you walk in. Once seated our various meal choices came out in good time to ensure we all ate together. Food was amazing, starters and mains were generously proportioned and all our meat dishes were prepared to perfection. Without asking we were given a generous gap between our dinner and our desserts, definitely needed. The Taverners usually provide a good evening or, or Christmas meal was definitely the best we have eaten.

A really warm, friendly and welcoming pub with the most amazing relish. The staff couldn't have been more attentive and the food was spot on - did I mention the relish.. we will definitely go back

We’ve just waddled out having had the best meal we’ve had for ages . The beef and ale pie was sublime and the brisket special was spectacular ,the sides were equally fabulous. Despite being stuffed we felt we had to try the sticky toffee pudding (would’ve been rude not too ) which was unctuous and addictive ! We loved everything and as well as amazing food the service was exemplary ! Thank you guys you we hope to be back soon 👍👍

Lovely old building (watch the low doorways). Friendly, helpful and efficient staff. Good food that's very well presented. We enjoyed whitebait (as good as I have ever eaten) and a delicious mackerel pâté. The roast beef main was top notch.
