Their products are expired. Check everything you buy. Especially "fresh" chicken and frozen products. Had to show a manager the expired food, and when asked why they think its ok to possibly make people sick, the had no answer

I recently visited the Checkers grocery store in George and was left disappointed. While the store had a decent selection of products, the overall shopping experience was lackluster. The store was very cluttered and disorganized, making it difficult to find what I was looking for. The staff seemed disinterested in helping customers and were more focused on stocking shelves. Additionally, the checkout process was slow and inefficient, with long lines and only a few cashiers available. The quality of some of the products was also questionable. I noticed several items that were past their expiration date or looked like they had been sitting on the shelf for a while. Overall, while the Checkers grocery store in George has potential, there are definitely areas that need improvement. A more organized and customer-focused shopping experience, along with better quality control, would go a long way in improving this store.

The packers are half asleep. I had to get my breadrolls from the customer in front of me and in the process had to check everything on my till slip matched my trolley content. No apology or anything from the packer. The cashier thought it was very funny and they had a conversation in their language at my expense. Will not go back!!

Tempted by the fresh burgers being made at the entrance. I decided to order one. Instead they gave me an old cold burger that was on a pile next to the stall. So, I asked for a fresh one. But they insisted that the cold one is fresh. I then asked if I could exchange it and they denied my request. I didn't feel like arguing, so I left. Turns out that burger was so old that it couldn't have been made today. I am severely disappointed. Many of their fruits and vegetables are also off lately. It's like they only stock the leftovers from other shops now. Management should please step up.

I went to Petshop Science - across from Checkers as it is a part of Checkers and gives Rewards special prices. What a lovely store! Great specials, large range of all types of goodies AND LOVELY STAFF.

The complex has a nice new coat of paint otherwise it's just a regular old checkers from my experience.

As one of the largest chain stores in South Africa with buying power I'm disgusted to see that their price of superior brown bread is more than other stores r19...now again at their medirite section I find ensure powder is over r165 for a 400g tin or r15 more than other places. Before covid this cost r110. This is disgusting.note I also will never buy bananas at any checkers store as they all are rotten inside.higher priced too.

Another great Checkers shop. Mostly just food and groceries but also cutlery, crockeryand glassware. There's also a Medipost Pharmacy.

This is currently one of our preferred supermarkets in town. They have great prices, lots of specials (if you have the Checkers card), and a big variety of products.

Nice clean store but management and some of the tellers really need to go on a course for customer care. They don't smile or greet you, and some of them have long conversations with each other and act as if you are inconvenience them.

Closest Checkers to where I stay. The store can do with an upgrade. However they trade long hours where the competition closes early. The store gets extremely busy and too few staff at till points. However, if they upgrade and get the staff inline with management, they can be the store with most likely the best turnover in George.

Great selection of foods and everything is fresh. Get the checkers card for extra savings. There is loads of parking and the shop operates during loadshedding. Staff are helpful and fairly friendly.

Absolute pleasure to shop during off-peak hours. Shelves are fully stocked and all products well represented. Staff and tills need to be increased for lunch hour and other peak areas.

Although the place was nice and clean the behavior of the staff at the tills are another thing. Instead of helping the customers in a friendly manner they looked grim and unfriendly. The till that we went through, the girl was so unfriendly and talked most of the time to the other girl packing the groceries. So we had to wait longer for her putting our stuff through.

STAFF STAFF STAFF and poor management of staff! When you arrive at a open till with a cashier and bag packer.....the bag packer walk away if you have a fully stocked trolley. It has happenend several times before, and not just with one client, a few of my family members have experienced the same issue. It all starts with management, poor management means poor staff. Please pull up your socks and improve on customer service. This is such an embarresment for George.

A terrible Checkers!!!!! Staff are unhelpful and not friendly. Their Specials are very seldom loaded on the system so you have to double check everything and then wait while they call a manager to sort it out. I only shop there if I don’t have another option. They really need to up their game!!!

Impressed with this Checkers being the smallest of the 3 in town (+ York St and Eden Meander). It does have a Medirite pharmacy with highly skilled and friendly staff. The deli has scrumptious food. The wine section is closed on Sundays due to WC regulations. It has the normal range of fresh fruit and veg,frozen foods, diary, and the ordinary household products.

They supply old food- their pies claim to be baked daily but are a few days old- the pies when baked are greta but only happens once in awhile-their attitude is rude and ignore you when you ask for something.
