We almost went to De Vette Mossel as a couple, which would have been a mistake. It is the ideal family and friends hangout (and great for making new friends), and we had a fantastic time. The atmosphere was delightful and perfect for chatting. The music and food was excellent, and the service was beyond reproach (just beware the divine potbrood, it will fill you up before the real food arrives!). The host was hilarious, reminding us of old legend Tolla van der Merwe. Even the music was Klipwerf Boere Orkes and other pure South African classics. It was the perfect beach setting (with our feet in the sand) and I will never forget that this was the place where I got to say yes to the love of my life. De Vette Mossel and crew, WELL DONE and thank you for an unforgettable night. Highly recommend, 10/10!!

The food is out of this world and so delicious! We litterly rolled out. For the price it is worthwhile and it is as it says - Eat as much as you can for 3 hours! Friendly people with excellent service! Cannot wait to visit again in the near future.

Each course is cooked and then announced - people can eat as much as they want of each course.. the courses are; an amazing bread served with mussels, grilled snoek, seafood potjie (rice and veg), venison with rice and veg and koeksisters for dessert... Pretty much the best seafood bbq we ever had. We love fine dining too but the view, the food, the people, the happiness is just amazing. It tasted so good and everybody was so friendly. You will not leave hungry and everything is just prepared perfect. Like a big family bbq. We loved everything. Thanks for this experience.

What a place. So different, so memorable. I loved that we could take off our shoes to just walk around in the sand while actually being in a restaurant at the same time. Also, the dynamics of how food is served and eaten is so different and fun! We didn't use knives and forks, we used mussel shells! I personally have never liked fish, but at De Vette Mossel I dined on fish as if I was a fishmonger. The snoek was my favourite dish. Also, the pot bread was to die for.

It could use some tasting and adding some ingredients to taste better before selling to the public or maybe have some tasters before we buy an expensive drink that wasn't nice to drink. The atmosphere is 👌, the guy hosting the whole eatery know excactly how to make people laugh and connect them in a humorous way to the food that are awaiting them. The music is 👌 and the food is seriously delicious. Our favorite was the bread and the snook and patats 😋😋😋 Because it was our 1st time we passed ourselves to be able to try everything. Next time we visit, we will definitely be dishing up more of it.

Unfortunately I have to express my dissatisfaction at this place. This is the second bad experience that I have encountered at De Vette Mossel Grootbrak. Our children booked as a group and wanted to add 3 further guests. We were informed that the only way to add guests is by doing it online which we promptly did and we received confirmation of our payment. When they arrived they were informed the payment is not showing and they had to pay in full again. Management was unhelpful and rude on the phone.
