This place is a gorgeous hiking peninsula. It has wonderful views from all sides. It is the best place for hiking in the Garden Route area. It has three hiking Trails (2.1 km, 5.5km, and 9 km) with medium difficulty. It is very well maintained and preserved. It has a colony of seals (public nature reserve). You can enjoy watching seals, sharks, sunset, nature bueties, and wonderful views. And enjoy doing s nice hiking exercise. It has a very clean beach with weak waves. It is very nice to spend half a day, or one day in this place. It is better to come early to enjoy the hiking trails and the place. In short, if you like to do only one hiking in the Garden Route area, this one should be your first choice. Entrance fee (as of Aug. 2022): Adults: 60 Rand per person. Childern: 40 Rand per child.

Hands down best hike that we're ever done. Only had time to do Whitsand loop, but we saw the seals and the scenes! About 2 hours round trip including photo time. We'll worth it. Go early to beat the crowds, we started at 8:30am. 🇦🇺🚶‍♂️🚶‍♀️

Absolutely loved it here! I did the hike and one of my all time favorite hikes! Not only is it challenging and the terrain is tough, but going to the Point means you get 9.5 kilometers. Words cannot describe the beauty of this Nature Reserve. I definitely recommend it Please note, you need some degree of fitness. Even for the shortened version

I did the full-length walk, it took me 2.5 hours but I was walking quite fast. I really enjoyed the walk, especially the last section as it's down on the rocks and beach - just be careful with tidal times.

It was our first trip to Robberg yesterday. We first weren't sure if we should go in or not. I'm glad we decided to go in though. Most beautiful views! We did the shortest walk - the Gap. Not very prepared but it was an easy walk on a well kept path. Such interesting rock formations along the way. There's a colony of seals that live on the island - thus it's name. It was so cool to see so many of them in one place. Bathrooms are clean and well kept. Great place for a picnic. We want to go down to the beach area next time. I see fishing is allowed which is a nice weekend activity as well. I see there's renovations or upgrades being done in the info building. Was a bit disappointed that we couldn't go in and ask questions about the flora and geography aspects we saw along the way. Also there's a very convenient coffee stand by the parking lot. I just wish they had ice cream. I would definitely recommend going hiking here.

An incredible place and absolute must do when in Plett! If it’s a hot and sunny day, try go earlier in the day to avoid bigger crowds and the heat. We did the medium course (about 5km) which is tough in some places due to the heat and terrain, so a medium level of fitness is required. Highly recommend!

There are a few hiking routes available. From a +-5kms to 8Kms option and then a shorter loop back. It's got many very steep and tricky climbs. Sandy sections and rocky sections. There are a few resting spots to enjoy. Overall not an easy hike and definitely need the right shoes for this hike. Overall we loved it but someone in our group injured her ankle seriously so be warned.

What an amazing trail! Paths are well maintained and indicated. Would highly recommend for a family outing, or for a workout to sprint around the point. Full loop is approximately 8km with 200m of elevation. Keep in mind weather can change suddenly.

A must do! Nature pure. The park offers 3 hiking trails (2km, 5km, 10km). We did the 10km one and it took us 4:30h to complete including breaks to rest and or enjoy the fantastic views. The 10km trail is quite challenging with very steep passages, stony parts and parts very close to the precipice. Make sure you have good (hiking) shoes and enough water. We’ve seen dolphins, 2 wales, countless seales and birds.

Great hike, it is not easy so you need to be trained, wear right hiking shoes and enjoy the seals, the landscape the views the beaches and hike hike hike as +300m elevation in 5k is already a good challenge. Be ready for up and down, if you do the normal way, going down to beach with beach sand is stunning. Greatly recommend and then have a quick swim was recovering.

Gorgeous place to go and have a hike. Just do it early, as the heat and humidity takes a toll on you and take lots of water with. We saw seals and ended up on a beautiful clear beach that offered us some time to cooldown after the hot walk. For short people the climb up the mountain can be challenging at times but the view is worth it.

Fantastic hike in a truly breathtaking scenery! Be aware though that even the middle loop requires some fitness (and sturdy shoes). It’s definitely more strenuous than what you would expect from a trail of that grade in a U.S. National Park. This hike is enough to keep you entertained for a good two and a half hours, with a picturesque scenery throughout. Highly recommended!

Some incredible memories of this hike. Some gorgeous photo moments walking high above the crashing of the waves against the rocks below. The chatter of the seals against the waterline below. The views of the bay are exquisite and then dropping down onto the beach to feel the cool water against your skin was amazing. Will have to go back and do it again

Tough, technical and Breathtaking!! This is a definitive must if you are anywhere near the Plett area. The route is just over 8km long and has the best views at all times. Definitely not for the faint of heart but if you take time and go slow anyone can make it. Make sure you pack enough water and something to snack on and to take many breaks.

Wow, what a stunningly beautiful spot. It was a magical walk. It costs R60 per adult (Dec 21).We didn't do the full loop as the going can get a bit tough. If you are fit, tackle the walk. There are rocky bits, deep sand and some good climbs. It was worth every step, fabulous.

Great experience and the most magnificent views, we did witsand hike, literally walking on the edge of most cliffs, took my 7yr old and was abit challenging, proud of him completing. Lots of climbs and walking on sand. Go in the morning

Great nature reserve, scenic, and (if one chooses) adventurous trails. The only issue is the management of admission, which is thoroughly disorganized when there's many people - allowing for rude personalities to cut lines and live out their "me first" attitude.

A stunning place with various hiking options to suit most people, from relatively easy to a little more challenging. Home to one of SA’s most beautiful beaches. Don’t forget to explore the island, run down the dunes, or maybe even book the overnight hut. Can get extremely busy in peak periods though so head there mid-week and out of season to get the most tranquil experience.

Wonderful place to hike just outside of Plettenbergbaai. You can rake 3 different hikes (short, middle, long).

We had a lovely time and passed 3-4 hours in total doing the middle length hike. There are some stunning views in certain parts of the hike which made the effort worthwhile. Visiting the Robberg Nature Reserve is a must-do activity if you happen to be in the area. One of the highlights were the seals colony which is quite big in the reserve. All in all highly recommended to do the hike. We did it with our two children, 11 and 13 years old and they really enjoyed it.

Robberg Nature Reserve is a stunning coastal reserve located just south of Plettenberg Bay on the Garden Route. We spent a morning exploring the reserve, hiking down to Whitsand and back. The nature here is truly breath-taking and is up there for one of the most stunning places I’ve ever had the pleasure of visiting. The hikes are pretty tough in places, so I would say you do need to be a certain level of fitness to undertake them. There’s quite a lot of scrambling along rocks in places, so make sure you don’t wear flip flops – you’ll need grip! The reserve is home to a variety of wildlife, and it was a real treat discovering the huge group of Cape fur seals that call Robberg Nature Reserve home. Robberg Nature Reserve is a wonderful place to spend a half a day exploring the natural beauty of the Garden Route, and should definitely be on your itinerary if visiting Plettenberg Bay.

The hike is perfect for many fitness levels & there is a halfway loop for a shorter version. The views from above are unchallenged & the most beautiful that you can imagine. A lovely beach accessible after the halfway mark too.

Beautiful beyond words. We did the Point hike and it was challenging particularly alone the large Boulder section where the trail is not always clear Thanks Cape Nature for a well laid out and maintained trail. I will have to book Fountain Hut next time!

Wonderful hike. The full circuit is a long way so make sure you leave enough time and make sure you have comfortable shoes- the route is a mix of path, rocks and sand but so worth it. Dramatic crashing waves, loads of seals and incredible views.

  • 5/5 Micha H. 1 year ago on Google
One of the best hikes we ever made. You will see a lot of seals and enjoy stunning views and the rough ocean. After following the trail to the middle (big sand dune) you can choose whether you want to go to "The Point" (1,5h longer and highly recommended) or go down the dune and enjoy a bit of the beach after going the other trail back.

If you an extreme hiker you will love this place..f hiking is not your thing, the 2 km walk will be great. If you do the 5 km you will see alot of sea lions and end up at the island beach which was great An amazing day at robberg

Took the Cape Union Mart Tech team for a day hike. The rich history on the stone age artifacts go back 120 million years ago. I would definitely recommend this Trail as a weekly trip if you reside in Plettenberg.

Did the long hike just over 9km right around the promontory. Absolutely recommended. Stunning views and fascinating flora. Saw a lot of cape fur seals and dolphins playing in the ocean. Stunning! If you are hiking fit an easy hike of 3 - 4 hours. I would recommend taking a whole day so that you can take in all the view points and swim at the lovely beach on the last stretch.
