Oh wow, this is a must do experience for anyone visiting South Africa and especially the garden route. It has a ferry ride with entertaining guides talking about the history of the area. Access on and off the boat is easy. Then a great 4x4 truck ride up the mountain, sit on the left side for best views. After that you can return with the truck or hike back to the restaurant down the hill. It's tough but I managed and I have dodgy knees and am not fit, just take it slow. The views and flora are incredible. After all the excersize, you have a delicious buffet lunch, beers and wine are available for your account. Amazing day out.

Great place to visit. Travelled across estuary in lovely clean boat, with an entertaining commentary. Then walked from jetty at Featherbed up a hill to where transport was waiting to take us up the hill. Short stop for magnificent views across the estuary. At the top, we then commenced a guided walk back down to the restaurant where a nice lunch awaited us. (Those with mobility issues were taken up and fown on a golf cart so that they didn't miss out). Lovely clean environment, well maintained, a pleasure to visit.

My experience was absolutely amazing! The tour guides, Collin and Sue were great. Such lovely people; very friendly, very professional and very informed. I enjoyed every single part of it, including the walk up the hill to the restaurant. Speaking of the restaurant, the three-course buffet was to die for. I haven't eaten food that wonderfully-prepared in a long time. The weather was perfect, as well. It was a 4-hour tour across the lagoon to the restaurant, all for R600 per person, which means for 3 people it'll probably be around R1800. For the experience I had, I must say it's quite affordable. Well done on the pricing πŸ‘πŸΎπŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯. I don't know what the 1-hour ferry tour is like, but I would definitely recommend the 4-hour ferry tour to anyone who wants to visit Knysna. I would also recommend coming during the May month as anytime before or after then will be too hot or too cold. Well done to the entire Featherbed Nature Reserve Boat Tours teamπŸ‘πŸΎπŸ”₯❀️

Well worth the asking price. Get a nice boat cruise there, information on the history of the area , with a wonderful walk in nature with a delicious lunch. Staff from the boat skipper to guides to waiters are all very friendly and professional. Would definitely do it again as we locals.

Had the most amazing time on their Eco tour to the Western head in Knysna. Helen is an amazing tour operator with a passion for nature. The lunch buffet was world class and the trip back to the waterfront was beautiful.

Excellent experience!!! Well informed Guide, everyone was so friendly and helpful. Views from the short hike is absolutely stunning and beautiful. Really nice to see the efforts in restoring the plants and reserve. Lunch was really good and far better than expected. We will definitely be returning.

Stunning setting, a terrific walk, and the lunch buffet was superb! The decor, especially the tables are worth while to have a closed look at!

We did one of their excursions. Ferry ride, 4 x 4 to the lookout points and a short guided hike. It was fantastic. The staff and guides are knowledgeable and attentive. The views are spectacular. We were blessed with a clear day. What I need to highlight is the lunch buffet at their Milkwood restaurant. Do not miss it. I will sit under those trees for hours. Birdlife is abundant, the staff is friendly and the food is great.

Incredible day with Johannesburg, Shaquille, Collin, Julius, and the boat driver (wish I could remember his name). It was very entertaining and well laid out. You should be able to walk about 2 miles with changing terrain to do this walk. You will be offered a trekking stick…take it! Make sure to hydrate on warm days. The views are beautiful and picturesque. Collin was a great guide and incredibly attentive to his customers during the walk. Lunch onsite was a delicious buffet. Wonderful!

My family and I had a wonderful morning on the Featherbed reserve with our guide, Colin. Starting with a fresh but relaxing boat ride, we were told about the lagoon, local area history, and origins of the reserve. Upon arriving at the beautiful reserve, we had a short break and quick walk up to the vehicle, before being taken up to the top of the headland to glorious views of East Head, the lagoon and open sea. Next was a downhill walk back to Featherbed base, with a stop off to the beautiful sea caves. It's a stunning walk. You get up close and personal with the plants, and we saw some beautiful birds. The last section along the shore is particularly stunning. We finished back at the restaurant with a buffet lunch, which was excellent, with lots of choices. After lunch, we had time to dip our toes in the water (very chilly) before being taken back to base by the boat. After a few very active days, it was a wonderful relaxing experience in a beautiful area. Highly recommended for all ages and abilities. Bring layers (cold on boat, hot on walk). Thanks very much!

The early Sunday ferry to the Beach Bar for breakfast was quiet; just us, the Skipper, and his mate. 'Wouldn't mind sharing the ferry with a crowd, but once off at the other end, my guess is you'd want to lose the crowd, so early and out of season was perfect for us.

It's a beautiful venue and we'll worth the visit. The very entertaining ferry captain will keep you entertained for the +/- 20 minute trip across the lagoon. The food is good and not too expensive too. If you have young kids its probably worth going at low tide as the small beach is the only play area available and ta high tide it is mostly covered.

Great to see the Nature Reverse coming back to life after 2017 fires. Lovely guides and a fantastic buffet lunch

Brilliant experience, lovely views, great lunch for our group of 15 people. Even had a go at shooting seed balls with a slingshot to assist revegetation of the cliffs following a massive, devastating fire. Besides the eco side, shooting a seed ball and seeing it fly through the air is a pretty good feeling.

Still just as beautiful as when I visited as a child, newly built structures due to the 2015 fires look awesome and welcoming. Breathtaking views. Weather wasn't great during the hike but still thoroughly enjoyed it!

What an incredible place to visit!! Spent time on a hike here through the carved edges of rock and stone that formed over millions of years and has been recreated by lovers of nature to enjoy and natural piece of beauty in paradise

We did the 3 hour boat cruise, tractor ride,2.2km hike and ended off with an amazing lunch. The boat is not very modern but is comfortable and safe and the guide was friendly and entertaining. The hike offered exceptional views of the lagoon, Thesen island, Knysna heads and the Indian Ocean. A lovely surprise was the school of dolphins we saw on the walk back. The restaurant is exceptionally beautiful and modern, service is excellent and prices are good but not cheap. We had a wonderful experience and I'd definitely recommend this tour to anyone.

One must see place if you go near Knysna. From Knysna Heads you have a great view over the lagoon. Some walkways were built right in the top, that you can walk from one side to the other of the cliff, allowing you to have several perspectives from the lagoon and the see entrance.

After making a telephonic booking and being given a 50% discount due to it being during the week, we realised that this particular Monday was a public holiday. When contacting the Featherbed, Ülrike Schnetler apologized for the mistake and honoured our booking at the reduced price. All in all, we enjoyed a wonderful day with an informative and enjoyable boat ride over to the Featherbed at Knysna Heads. We were driven up all the way to the end of the south head treated to information relating to the wildlife and history of the heads. Once at the top, we enjoyed the lovely scenery and had a comfortable and enjoyable walk down to and along the lagoon back to a wonderful and well-earned buffet lunch. From starters to the main course and dessert, everything was delicious and of international standard. Would we go again? .... This will be a definite YES!!!!!

This Sunday Market is a quaint little place of interest to those with an eclectic interest. Loved the mini train run by a group of Knysna Locomotive Engineers, absolute treasure. Some good food on sale, with the carrot Muffins a must to flavour.

Featherbed Tours offered a 4 echo adventure special including a buffet lunch. Featherbed have improved the place since the 2017 fire. The guided tour is well worth it. Buffet was delicious. I'll be back.
