We have been to many bird sanctuaries around the world and this has been by far our favorite. So many beautiful birds! Our kids (9 and 12 years old) liked it way more than Monkeyland, which really surprises my wife and I. This is a must-see place.

A wondeful place to visit. Beautiful experience to walk freely between all the birds. An easy walk along the boardwalks. Wheelchair friendly. Just do not waste time to eat at the restaurant inside. Service is very very slow. Used up all our time we wanted to spend with the birds instead. Entrance fee is R350 per person. If you want to do Monkey land as well a combo ticket costs R590 per person. (2023 prices)

My goodness! This aviary is amazing! We thoroughly enjoyed the time there. Make sure to buy the identification guide, worth it. The walk through the aviary was truly amazing. The sound of the different birds was like we were in the forest. The wooden boards really made it easier to take beautiful pictures of all the different species. We also enjoyed sitting down on the benches along the paths. Some of the birds are familiar to people and will come up close. The sanctuaries have combos you can purchase. We purchased a combo and it was definitely worth it. I will recommend this place to everyone I know.

We took our family through on a rather wet and rainy day. The entrance fee is expensive and a walk through the sanctuary will last around 60 to 90mins. The walkways were great and the natural beauty was fantastic. We say a few species of bird but not as many as you'd expect. The facilities weren't great. The toilets were okay but the cafe was very poor. My daughter's really enjoyed being able to get close to the birds and the adventure of walking through tree tops. Overall very pretty and worth a visit.

What an awesome adventure. We spent almost 4 hours here, in total awe. I could have stayed for another 4 hours easily. The birds and the walkways are awesome. Lots of seating allows you to sit and enjoy the sounds. No touching or feeding of birds is allowed. The small restaurant at the end was a bit disappointing - the fact that they only took cash meant that we couldn't eat there. At R350 pp, it seems pricey, but it was worth every cent. I recommend getting a guidebook (R20) and pen at the start so that you can identify the birds. Highly recommended.

Tread softly, look closely into the foliage and you will be rewarded. We saw lots of birds, much more than expected. As the walk progresses, the number of birds increases and there were also some deer. Highlight was spotting Knysna birds and spoonbills.

The visit was an absolute joy with an astonishing range of exotic birds. No time pressure so you can get lost in the landscape and walking levels with a new sight at every turn. The free flight principle is fantastic both for the birds and visitors. Easily worth spending 2 hours absorbing the unique experience.

A spectacular place to visit! One of the best sanctuaries in South Africa with around 200 bird species freely flying in a very spacious closed aviary about 3 hectares large and up to 60 m high. Though the feeling is that it is larger since the walkway zigzag across the park on different levels. It is very pleasant just to stroll along the walkways and watch for the birds, or to sit on one of tens of the benches standing here and there. The bird reference guide is available at the entrance for R20, thus it is possible to determine any bird species you encounter. Binocular could be helpful, since the aviary is huge. There is a nice small restaurant inside with a good choice of dishes with many vegetarian options and very competitive prices.

Ok - hands down one of my best nature places to go to. This sanctuary is the only alternative to in the wild I can accept. It centres around the creatures that live there - you just stay on the path. You really feel.part of their world. This is my fourth visits and won't be my last. Don't knock the price either - they do so much with the money they receive.

Birds of Eden was hands down the highlight of our trip. This Sanctuary is a experience like no other. A huge open air bird cage, and I mean like huge. My wife and I had so much fun walking through the Sanctuary and spotting birds and trying to check off as many birds as we could from our bird identification book. Beautiful indigenous forest with a plethora of beautiful creatures.

I'm not really keen on keep wild birds, caged. Although is an aviary, it is still sad. It is however beautiful, and we had an amazing time there. We saw the most beautiful birds. Can recommend the place

Birds of Eden is absolutely amazing, it's a massive forest covered with a huge net to keep all the amazing and beautiful birds inside. We especially enjoyed seeing all the parrots and macaws flying freely.

Such an amazing place to see birds in a semi-natural setting, really great effort to set this up. We spent a few hours in there but could've easily stayed all day. Some birds are a little too curious and cheeky, watch our for the parrots and their love for destruction!

I am actually not a big fan of birds, but this place is well done. Beautiful jungle landscape with rivers, waterfalls, lakes, flowers, bridges and walkways under an enormous tent. Pretty birds. Much more natural than just a few birds in a Zoo. Really well worth coming here.

This is a must do activity in Plettenberg bay. There is a long but manageable walk down and back up the area on wooden walkways. No stairs. There is a suspension bridge to cross but it is easy. So many birds to see, if you don't get the perfect picture straight away, wait, you will see the bird again. Nice coffee shop at end with roosterkoek and other light lunches plus cold beer.

What an incredible experience! The well constructed wooden walkway takes one down to almost root level of incredibly tall trees before going back up again to a plateau almost at the level of the tree tops and the ceiling of the dome. Simply amazing! Wheelchair friendly too! Well worth the visit.

Absolutely gorgeous. So many amazing birds and I was interested the whole way round even though I know nothing about birds. They often come so close so you can get a great view, and the scenery and walkway are stunning. A really love way to spend an hour or two.

I was blown away about this paradise for the exotic birds and parrots. I have been to a few sanctuaries in the world but this one is the best one ive visited. Early morning visit is the best time to visit and one can see the birds up close while they feeding. A must see when one is in the area. Highly recommended.

One of the coolest animal parks I've ever been to. A huge jungle-like area enclosed with nets where numerous bird species frolic. There's something to see everywhere, and the birds can fly longer distances too. It feels like strolling through a jungle on secure wooden bridges. A white parrot landed on my shoulder and stayed there for several minutes - we called him Mr.White (if you meet him, give him my regards). My expectations were far exceeded.

Expected to see a lot more birds than what we did. But the place is well maintained and clean. Beautiful boardwalk all around the park to see all the birds and just take in the scenery.

My favourite bird park! No cages, lots of different beautiful birds, lovely boardwalk. If you walk slowly and look around you’ll spot many birds.

So beautiful! And great to see that even though it's a huge enclosed space, birds have so much space to fly around and be free in a way. Very nice experience!

What a beautiful natural habitat, I enjoyed my visit at this place, I highly recommend it for people who want to have a relaxing peaceful time with family. Listening to the different melodies that the birds made in the morning when they woke up and during the afternoon when they returned to their nests was calming and very extraordinary, I can't even begin to describe the feeling.I believe its a once in a lifetime experience that everyone should try. If you need a weekend getaway just to find peace, this is the place to be, it's great all year round...

Wow such a great experience so beautiful 😍 had so much fun with the birds as the hop and play around us. So many species

A huge variety of beautiful birds. Very deceptive from the outside. It is enormous on the inside and caters to the needs of all the birds. Birds are very used to people and you can get very close to get great pictures.

What an amazing place. Highly recommended - though not cheap! Beautifully maintained and designed, brilliant birds

Beautiful park with so much to see. These birds are very well kept. And it’s easy to get close to them, as most are quite curious. As a tourist, entry fee is perfectly fine. And I like the fact, that they also take care of elderly and abandoned birds.

I’ve been to lots of bird parks, but this one may be my favorite ever! Instead of seeing birds in small, confined spaces, here we see them interact with a forest canopy covered with netting. So cool! I worried we would be too far away to see the birds well, but feeding stations right by the boardwalk bring them right up to us. I support this humane treatment of these beautiful creatures who are rescues and stay here if they can’t be returned to the wild.

This is a must do if you're on the garden route. Many different amazing birds. The best thing is that they stay freely inside the enclosure (It's basically massive massive bird cage) and are used to visitors so you can have close encounters. The circular walk is around 1.5 km and no exits in between. So you either complete it or return back. Best to do this along with Monkeyland. You also get a combo discount.
