Great coffee and I’m sure they take their craft seriously. But the barista really makes you feel like you shouldn’t even be there, like he is bothered by your very presence. I don’t know if pretentious is the vibe they’re going for but they nailed it.

Great place to get delicious third wave espresso and specialty coffee drinks. They are clearly an espresso focused shop but do also serve regular coffee as well. I do appreciate the serving size of their espresso which seems to almost be a quad shot as opposed to just a double. I will 100% be back whenever I’m in the area.

Best coffee in the US yet found! We’re from the UK, nearing the end of a two-week tour of NY and Vermont. Best coffee so far, including Brooklyn. I was sad not to meet the owners: I see from the website that in the past, founder Jason worked at my absolute favourite UK coffee shop, Colonna and Small. However, the coffee absolutely does not disappoint. Make this place a destination when you visit Burlington!

Great coffee! Pity that pastries are only on Saturdays.

Some very tasty coffee, artfully made with great raw materials can be had here. There are many curated blends to choose from and excellent friendly team serving them. The honey blossom were donuts were tasty and generously filled and very tasty. Almost like they are the made with sour dough. Definitely a must try!

The coffee was absolutely delicious. We got a pour over and a cold brew. The baristas were well knowledgeable and the service was impeccable. The ambiance in this coffee shop was on par to the coffee shops in NY. 10/10, would return!

Nice coffee shop! So much better than Tight Squeeze across the street. Ended up over here after the barista over there started blasting music videos. This place is (1) warm (2) has WiFi and (3) has good tables for working. Vast improvement! But do wish the benches were a bit more comfortable (doesn’t seem like a place you could work for multiple hours) and that they served food.

These people do not mess around with their espresso! Multiple options available (all phenomenal) and the presentation adds to the experience! If you usually don’t order straight espresso, this is the place to try.

I’ve been coming here regularly for a few months now. The coffee is expertly made and the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. They have a great variety of coffees to please any palate and present tasting notes on the menu. Possibly the best coffee drinking experience in town!

Latte is basically brewed coffee. After researching the different coffee spots in Burlington, I was excited to get a latte from Onyx. I had believed from the website that they would have the most expertise and would ensure that the latte is made from exquisite beans, meticulously extracted, and poured with the right foam/temperature. After coming twice and getting lattes from 2 different employees, both experiences have shown to be poured from employees with little understanding of what a latte is supposed to be. Don’t get be wrong the beans are great and the equipment is clean, but the barista steamed the milk without adding any air. Then they put the coffee in the counter and simply add the foamless heated milk to the espresso. This isn’t the “expertise” that is advertised on the website. I would recommend training on steaming and adding a thermometer while steaming.

Absolutely delicious drinks! I really loved the maple latte that I got and it was easy to drink-nice and smooth! I can tell that they take pride in their craft. The staff were not mean with us but I felt that they weren’t very warm either though. Might’ve been on off day for them? Overall I recommend this cafe!

My wife and I came here both mornings on our trip to Burlington. Arguably some of the best coffee we’ve ever had. No frills type of place with a small menu. The everything nice latte and cold brew were fantastic. If you’re a coffee connoisseur or a casual drinker, this place won’t disappoint.

I do not recommend getting pourover from this place. The coffee bean they use isn’t bad, but the temperature is way too hot, so the product you’re getting will carry an overpowering bitterness, plus you’ll need to wait at least 10 minutes to be able to drink it. Oh and the barista asked their coworker to take over in the middle of the dripping because they have to use the bathroom real bad. I also do not recommend getting coffee beans from this place. At first I was so happy to find that they carry beans that are freshly roasted. But after trying them I got so disappointed because these beans are clearly flavored, but such information was not disclosed in its packaging. It’s sad because now I can only throw this $24 bag out as it tastes gross like damp towel that’s been sitting on the stove for weeks. I understand that the coffee shop doesn’t roast their own beans but people come here to support local businesses. Maybe at least test them before putting them on the shelf for sale??

Great coffee spot! It's a chill spot that serves light bakery items as well. We were visiting the area and read great reviews about Onyx Tonics, and decided to try it out. "The coffee was quite literally the best coffee I've had in my entire life, and I'm from Portland, Oregon," what my girlfriend said. I'm a coffee enthusiast, and this was by far the best coffee I've had. The service was great, and we sat and enjoyed our coffee.

Definitely a brewed awakening! I like the "choose your own adventure" menu with different coffees and ways to prepare. The description of my choice was spot on and different from any other coffee I've had even with oat milk - yum! The family enjoyed the hot chocolate and baked goods as well. Worth a visit!

Had an exceptional, and unique cup of coffee. Great service. It's also reasonably priced considering things in this area are getting unaffordable. HIghly recommended.

Guilty of stereotypical profiling, I expected the type of high-acidity coffee traditionally found in other places of a similar aspirational aesthetic; the coffee equivalent of natural wines or craft beers. Instead, I stumbled on arguably the best coffee I ever had, with textural richness and a distinct torrefaction complexity. Thanks for the absolutely unique and thoughtful sensory experience!

A beautiful espresso bar with rotating high-quality coffee and espresso, served by professional, knowledgeable, technically competent and detail-oriented staff. A beautiful cafe to work in, and above all a wonderful place to truly appreciate how distinct and stunning well-prepared coffee can be. A must visit if you’re interested in coffee, or interested in becoming interested.

Single origin espresso is very good. Served with sparkling water to cleanse your palate before sipping. True to how espresso should be enjoyed.

If you like seeking out high quality, thoughtful coffee shops. This is it! 10/10! High quality espresso and specialty drinks. My only regret is not buying more coffee.

Such a kind and wonderful staff who make the best coffee and coffee drinks in Burlington. Wonderful rotation of specialty beans and the descriptions are accurate and helpful as well (even have a “flavour notes” section for how adding milk to each coffee changes it!). A place I go back to every time I’m in town. One of my Burlington “musts”.

Wonderful espresso options with natural hints of berries, nuts, or fruits. I love the environment and baristas just as much as their cappuccinos.

A very neat coffee experience, it's amazing how coffee tastes when it's made thoughtfully. I appreciate the detailed descriptions of each roast and the helpful suggestions from the barista. Lots of space to sit and sip.
