👍👍 Spectacular and unknown palace in old Madrid. A real shame that it can only be seen very few times a year. The Arab wall and the water conduction on its lower floor are marvelous. It belongs to the National Heritage but is granted by concession to the Royal Academy of Engineers. A pleasant surprise... The Arab wall and the water conduction on its lower floor are marvelous. It belongs to the National Heritage but is granted by concession to the Royal Academy of Engineers. A pleasant surprise on my visit was to find in this palace the president of the Academy who was meeting in his office and who was kind enough to postpone the meeting to receive us and tell us the history of this palace and its former inhabitants. A pleasure for the senses this visit (Original) Espectacular y desconocido palacio en el Madrid antiguo.

(Translated by Google) Villafranca Palace is an eclectic place. It retains some decorations of the nineteenth century with the signature of the great Mélida and a fairly large and well preserved canvas of the Christian wall of Madrid. It is not the most beautiful palace in Madrid, but the site is loaded with history. Access is complicated and can only be visited in a group. A beautiful palace in the Madrid of the Austrians. We went for a business purpose, and its president, Antonio Colino, served as a kind and cultured host. I'm not surprised, it's from Zamora.

(Translated by Google) The Royal Academy of Engineers is located in the Palace of the Marquis of Villafranca commissioned to build by the V Marquis of Villafranca the architect Francisco Ruiz in 1717 of neoclassical style and settling on the old Christian wall. It also conserves in a very good condition the waterway of the Islamic period, by going parallel to the wall, from the small old lagoon of Puerta Cerrada. In 1876, his heirs had to sell the Palace in two parts, one of which was converted into the Sacred Heart school in cession until 1901 and later in property.

Hacen visitas guiadas.

A wonderful palace where you can let your imagination fly. And to think that what we see is not even half of what it once was...

Another palace emptied by the Napoleons. But I was pleasantly surprised to be able to visit a water trip. You reach a toilet, they push the wall and... A passage that goes down! Brilliant.

Beautiful Palace with a lot of history, it even preserves remains of the old Christian wall. The guide who showed us it has been very kind and an expert knowledge of all its history. It made our visit very pleasant. It is highly recommended to visit it.

Thanks to Welcome to the Palace I have been able to be another citizen visiting the current Royal Academy of Engineering known as the Palace of the Marquis of Villafranca. The guided tour was very good. Every corner of the Palace has its history, some even with curious anecdotes. Highly recommended 👌

Palace of the Marquis of Villafranca, transferred to the Royal Academy of Engineering, purchased in phases. The hybrid of the beautiful old part that coexists with the newer and more contemporary part is striking. You can see part of the old wall of Madrid. Guided tours can be made within the CAM Palace Visit program.

(Translated by Google) This historic building where the REAL ACADEMY OF ENGINEERING works today is one of those perfect strangers for the general public. Former Palace of the Marquis de VillaFranca. In its interior we find exposed and perfectly preserved a stone wall that is neither more nor less than a rest of the old wall of Madrid (20 m long) and if this were not enough entering the service of ladies of daily use to through a small door you go down to a subsoil that corresponds to an original "water trip" of Arab brick (tunnel / conduit where water circulated that reached the sources of the city) The halls and rooms of the building are very beautiful and contain enough period furniture in perfect condition. Visit with Carolina Architect COAM Guide (architecture week 2019. Thank you Carolina for your excellent explanation and great mastery of communication!
