If you are going to Bedaghat you should definitely visit the Chausath Yogini Temple. The architecture of this temple is magnificent and it is supposed to be 1200 years old. Since this is situated at the top of a hill, you have to climb more than 100 steps which can be tiring. Once you reach the top you will be treated to stunning views of the Narmada river. It is very well maintained and clean. We were fascinated by the circular design of the outer temple. This housed small cells and different idols were present in each cell. The carvings on each of these idols are so beautiful that it will take you many hours if you want to view and admire each one of them. But the sad part was that most of these idols were broken. Do carry a couple of water bottles as you will get tired climbing the steps and will need to drink a lot of water.

Good Temple, nice ambient near narmada River. Mainly dedicated to Goddess Durga, the Chausath Yogini Temple was built in the 10th century by the Kalachuris kings, and it still stands tall atop a hill, enticing tourists and devotees from different parts of India. As the name ('Chausath' meaning sixty-four) suggests, the temple has 64 shrines built along the walls of its circular premises, each containing a carved figure of a Yogini, and a central shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.

Beautiful architecture with peaceful vibes. You can see the Narmada river from the top and the view is amazing. There are however, quite a few steps that needs to be climbed to reach the temple so that's the only bit difficult part. But it will be worth it so do put your climbing shoes on.

The Chausath Yogini Temple in Jabalpur is located near the Dhuandhar Falls in Bhedaghat and is one of the oldest heritage sites in India. Built in the 10th century AD by the Kalachuri kings, the temple bears a distinct resemblance to the Khajuraho temples. We visited this temple during our recent trip to Dhuandhar Falls and Bhedaghat. The temple on a hill top and accessed by a long flight of over 150 steps. It looks beautiful in the winter sun. The sanctum sanctorum has the idols of Lord Shiva and his consort Parvati mounted on the divine bull Nandi. It is said that this is the depiction of the wedding of Lord Shiva. No other temple to my knowledge has this idol. Moreover, the divine bull which is normally outside a Shiv temple is inside the shrine and the housing of the bull outside the temple is empty. The temple complex consists of 95 shrines which includes 64 Yoginis in circular fashion around the temple. The design of the temple has been kept simple but the idols of yoginis are exquisitely carved, each one depicting a unique posture.

A divine place near Bhedaghat, Jabalpur. The ancient temple is situated on a hilltop where you need to climb up atleast 200 stairs. The temple is the largest of the circular yogini temples, 125 feet in diameter. A must place to visit when you are in and around Jabalpur.

Located at an hour's drive away from Jabalpur, history has to offer one of its oldest religious sites - the Chausath Yogini Temple near Bhedaghat region. Chausath translates to sixty-four in English and the name has a direct relation to the structure of the temple. There are exactly 64 carved figures of Yoginis, each one in her own designated shrine, skirting the inner wall of the circular premises of the temple. As a bonus, the panoramic view of the mighty Narmada from the high open courtyard presents to you a lovely scene to be captured in the camera as well as to be remembered in the mind. Built by the Kalachuri dynasty way back in the 10th century, Chausath Yogini has seen powers rise and fall uncountable times. However, some of them were not so good for the temple, as its construction suffered severe blows from Muslim rulers in later centuries who were determined to wipe away any reminiscence of Hinduism. However, this temple has stood the test of time and religious hatred and is now a favourite historical retreat for travellers. Once you climb the 150-something stairs up to the central area, you get a prolific idea of 10th-century central Indian architecture as well the significance of Yoga tantric beliefs. This is also the only place where you will find the grandest couple of Hindu mythology, Lord Shiva and his consort Goddess Parvati riding the symbolic Nandi Bull. The idols of Shiv-Parvati stand in the Gauri-Shankar temple in the centre which is believed to be built at a later time than the original temple with Yoginis.

Hypaethral temple - a building with no roof and with columns forming a partial wall. One of the few around the world. There are (depending on where you read 16 such temples in India) this is the largest. Reaching : beyond be dhuandhar falls follow Maps Note: High stone steps about 70 or so, elders be warned. Parking : on the road , go a little ahead the road opens a bit. Facilities: drinking water nothing much else. Admire the beauty of the sculptures or what is left. Sad that some cultures do this to others. Only two yogini faces are still intact, imagine if all were intact. I spent 2 hours looking at these.

Chounsath Yogini Temple in Bhedaghat is a captivating historical gem that transports visitors back over a millennium. The ancient ambiance and intricate architecture of this Shankar Parvati temple make it a must-visit. The spiritual aura surrounding the 64 yogini sculptures is truly mesmerizing, offering a unique glimpse into the rich cultural and religious heritage of India. The temple's location in Bhedaghat adds to its allure, with the serene Narmada River enhancing the overall experience. A visit to Chounsath Yogini Temple is a journey through time and a testament to the enduring legacy of Hindu architecture.

The temple is one of the India's yogini Temple's, it has shrines for 81, rather than usual 64 yoginis, the temple was built early in the 11 CE by king yuvaraja II, of the dynasty of the kalachuris of tripuri, a ancient temple which consist many stories, a must visit place in jabalpur.

The Chausath Yogini Temple, Bhedaghat, also called the Golaki Math ("circular lodge"),is one of India's yogini temples, but exceptionally it has shrines for 81 rather than the usual 64 yoginis. All the same, scholars include it among the 64-yogini temples (चौंसठ chausath meaning 64 ). The group of 81 (ekashi in Hindi) is a mark of royalty, implying that the temple was founded by a king. The large temple is on a hilltop above the river Narmada in Bhedaghat (Hindi भेड़ाघाट, also transliterated Bheraghat), some 5 km from Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh.

Located in the vicinity of Dhuandhar waterfalls. Can be reached after climbing more than 100 steps. Damn peaceful once you reach the top. You can offer coconut and other items at the mandir after purchasing it from the people sitting at the entrance before climbing the stairs. They have kept a water tap and seats to relax, once you are halfway there in your climbing journey. Once you reach the top, you can locate lord Shiva's shivling, alongwith Nandi ji, and other God's murti. The view from the top is also amazing.

Chausath Yogini Temple is a must visit for the travellers of Jabalpur. It is near Vedaghat and situated middle of Dhuandhar falls and boat ghat for Marble Rock. The Temple boundary is round shaped and all over the round, idol of 64 yogini is placed. Idol of Parvati and Shiva is inside the main temple at the centre. As usual Nandi is in front and also a Shiva Linga is there. Most of the yogini statues are damaged some how. The Temple is on a height and a number of 108 steps you have to climb to reach the top. From the top the total area looks very nice.

One of the older temples in India built for Shiv Parvati. One of the very few temples where the idol shows both of them together in human form on the Nandi. A steep climb up but the scenery is beautiful. Try and get there at sunrise, it is a beautiful view. The temple is circular with statues of yoginis in the outer circle. These are beautifully carved, though some of them are now broken. It is a small temple but with a great architectural design. A must see in Jabalpur itinerary.

It's amazing place to visit with your family and friends but you must came with your personal vehicles and with proper arrangements of food and water because there food and water is not available and public transport also not run. If you are planning to visit this temple then the timings are important you must visit on morning time of left before sunset because of that area where the temple is situated. The area is more dangerous after the sunset no one is present at that time and chances of loot and theft are increase. But there is no doubt that this place is amazing for picnic and this place have important place in our history. You must have to visit this place with your family and friends.

A historical, mythical and beautiful place which has a temple built by the mother of the ruler of the very strong and powerful empire, Vijaynagar. The king's mother was a descendant of lord Shiva and therefore built a temple having the statues of God Shiva and Goddess Parvati sitting on their vehicle God Nandi. The temple, along with these statues have a lot of other statues of different Gods which are now damaged. It was damaged at the time of Auranzeb. All the temple needs is some consideration from travellers.

What a great temple with intricate sculpture of 64 forms of yoginis. This temple does not fail to impress anyone who has serious interest in classical Indian sculptures and architecture. Situated on a little hilltop, this place reminds you of great indian temple architecture and stone work. Anybody visiting Jabalpur should definitely visit this temple. Specially the one who is interested in cultural history, art and architecture of Indian subcontinent. Thank you.

I am not sure that it is also known in the name of some temple. Popularly it is known as Vera Ghat, Marble rocks, a relatively calm strech of river Narmada where all the bed is strewn with the mountain gorges coming as if from the river itself. The bank is also covered with marble or granite structures. A journey by boat in the calm water particularly in moonlit night is a memorable experience. But necessary precautions should always be taken as there are possibility of under current and crocodile that may break the otherwise peaceful journey.
