Motemajra Lake is situated at the front entrance to the village of same name. It is a very huge water body which plays host to numerous water birds. Migratory birds come here in winter. People are very good and helpful. Birds like ducks, herons, jacana come here in big numbers.

I visited the lake or wetlands on 14.6.23 early morning. It was very pleasant weather. The lake is about 90% dry but consolation is that it's still have number of birds out there. I enjoyed the watching with my 8x42 solonac binocular. It's really awsome. I can guarantee that any nature lover would not be disappointed by visiting any time of year, however, it should be visited in winter season to see migratory birds. The wetland is located behind SUS engineering college and on highway so one can enjoy while travelling from Banur to Kharar. There are number of good dhadas around here. Very cheap and quality food available. πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ₯°

Natural water body with lots of birds and fishes. This is not a maintained lake it is just a waterbody where waste water from village is collected. Still it is a nice place to visit for bird watching, fishing and some morning and evening photo shoots..

Mote Majra lake is situated about 24 KM from sector 17 bus stand and 20 KM from sector 43 bus stand Chandigarh. The lake is spread over approx. 200 bigha of land out of which almost entire area is full during rainy season. However, it dries in summer months except some patch. A lot of avifauna is found here specially in winter months. The birds visit/ found here are Bar-headed geese, gadwell, common coot, grey heron, crested grebe, red pochard , Northern shoveler, greater white-fronted goose, Eurasian wigeon, greylag goose, pintail ducks and cormorants etc. Local species as well as migratory birds prefer the area due to availability of food and water. Villegers of the village are also kind to them and never harm winged guests as told to me by Sh Faquir Chand, present Sarpanch of the village. The panchayat is trying to develop the area & made some sitting arrangements for people visit here during year around specially winter months to see migratory birds. I being frequent visitor to the lake would advise bird and nature to visit during December to February to watch migratory birds. Out station people can stay at Mohali or Chandigarh being a tourist hub.

Required regular maintenance, benches for visitors, a food canteen nearby and washroom facilities.
