My daughter-in-law just left their emergency room. She went there due to severe chest pains high blood pressure and dizziness. They did an ekg and the nurse said her heartrate was too fast..he was taking the results to the doctor and would be right back. Shift change and he never came back.Three and a half hours later she was still sitting in the waiting room and got up and walked out. Pathetic and unacceptable! She was warned about going there but wanted to go to the closest place. Never again!

This ER is absolutely HORRIBLE! I was sent to the ER by my primary care physician for tingling and pain on my left side and abdominal pain. 1. The nurse that drew my blood stuck me in a vein that blew, and it created a huge painful blister on my arm. Then two hours later another nurse came in and stated that she had to draw more blood because the first nurse didn’t get a good specimen. 2. The shoulder pain was never addressed, and I prescribed medication for my abdominal issue, but no medication for the abdominal pain while I was there at the ER. 3. The bathroom was disgusting and it looked like a prison bathroom. There was a paper bag that they were using as a trashcan. The toilet paper wasn’t on a roll. You just grabbed it out of a nasty hole which is completely unsanitary. 4. I was in an exam suite with another individual, and I heard everything that was going on with him, along with his personal phone calls and snoring. 5. I provided them with my pharmacy information at check-in. Upon discharge, the nurse sent the prescription to the wrong pharmacy and then proceeded to argue with me about where the pharmacy is when I use this pharmacy all of the time. OVERALL, HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE, THEY PROVIDED NO ANSWERS FOR ME, AND I LEFT WORSE THAN I WAS WHEN I GOT THERE.

Unfortunately, I had to go to St.Joseph's Hospital Emergency Room on the night of June 1, 2021. I was in horrific pain due to my back. The pain was so bad I could barely breathe, stand, sit, or even dress myself for that matter. As my husband and I arrived an employee saw us trying to walk in. She immediately grabbed a wheel chair for us. My husband rolled me inside and got me checked in. Thank God they were not swamped because they were able to take me straight back. I was in the back for a minute when I was greeted by a young lady who tried to help me out of my chair and to the bed. I did not get her name but she was very sweet in trying to help me. Shortly after my nurse, Marie Campbell introduced herself and let me know she was going to take good care of me. Marie could see I was in dire need of relief and I was in serious pain. She was professional, she listened intently as I went over my history, and she showed me respect, and empathy. Dr. Kate Christlieb was my doctor and she was just as sweet and phenomenal as Nurse Campbell was to me. While I was there I thanked them but I really wanted to give these ladies the credit they deserve. They took excellent care of me and got me to a point where I could actually lay back in the bed. The spasms I had were so intense I was literally in tears. They did not discharge me until I was feeling better. I had never been to St. Joseph's before and I was scared and in so much pain. Thank you for making me feel so much better. Another thing worth mentioning is how Nurse Campbell had such great things to say about Dr. Kate Christlieb. There is nothing better than seeing people lift each other up. I pray no one has to take a trip to the ER but if you do you are in excellent hands with Nurse Marie Campbell & Dr. Kate Christlieb. You have no idea how my care meant to me and my husband. God Bless you all and keep up the excellent work.

I'd like to start-off by saying the nurse has a good attitude. But man the waiting time is wayyyy too long! I was bleeding in the emergency room for over 4 hours and they were not able to get me treated... Is staffing the issue or the staff have issues with priority?? You can do better than this, St. Joe

I'm the son of the 85-year-old patient. This experience didn't measure up to previous ones. He came by ambulance from his nursing home very lethargic and confused -- not normal for him. It took a long time to be seen, no one came to tell me what was going on after I had been promised they would. I finally got a nurse's attention. They said they were doing blood work and would get a chest x-ray (he has been hospitalized with aspiration pneumonia and sepsis twice this year). I also suggested a urinalysis since he is prone to UTIs. A doctor came to see him well after he arrived. They never sent out urine or got the x-ray. Gave him half a bag of fluids and sent him back via ambulance after that -- still lethargic and confused. Extremely disappointed.

This was the worst emergency room visit I have had in a long time. My son has asthma and they acted like it was no big deal. He was coughing so bad he almost vomited and it took for me to go back to the front desk to ask for assistance. They did give him some medicine after this. We were there for 4 hours which was way too long. He was worried they forgot about us. I’m just happy he didn’t have school today because he would have never been able to wake up. I will suggest going to another hospital.

Not the best experience. I guess when you’re busy you loose your heart. No one really showed a lot of compassion. Just the get you in get you out attitude. All together I talked to the doctor for less than five minutes and I was there for close to five hours. Didn’t ask me what was going on until she was ready to discharge me. I guess I always thought when you go the emergency room or the hospital in general you’d be comforted. Not treated like a burden. If you don’t like your job, get a new one. The importance of showing compassion goes a long way. I’m 100% sure they didn’t even diagnose me right as my pain is in a different area and more severe than what they diagnosed me with. I will be going somewhere else for a second opinion.

I came with stomach upper abdomen pain and they took blood. Was checking my urine and private area due to a possible infection. I was told that I had no infection and 3 days later after my Dr. fit me in, she called me and put me on an antibiotic due to an infection. Now, about a week later than being at St. Joseph’s, I’m in terrible pain most likely due to kidney infection from the urinary infection that travelled up to my kidneys. I’m up tonight in terrible flank and back pain most likely infected due to the urinary infection that they said I didn’t have. Waste of time. Why didn’t they see that? Now traveled up to excruciating kidney/sides/lower back pain.

I went to the ER this morning (8/16/22) for a severe sore throat & difficulty swallowing. I've been dealing with this for 2 days. I had gone to an SSM Urgent Care, but felt that very little had been done. At the ER, I found all the staff I encountered to be very professional & courteous. Each staff member explained their role & the process for my treatment. An ER visit is never pleasant. Thank you helping me to actually feel better upon leaving.

Here we go again.. Katie, RN had an attitude as soon as I walked in. While checking in interrupted me when I was trying to tell her the things that were going on with me. Then tried to get my vitals after I answered all her questions. I had to remind her that I had MORE things going on, which again she still did not get all the info of what I was dealing with. This hospital treats POC HORRIBLE! Then the nurse Rachel comes in and of course only mentioned the 2 things that Katie put in the file when it was at least 3-4 things that I was coming in for! They NEVER listen!! Rachel was offended that I even suggested they don't listen POC which is laughable at this point because Katie clearly did NOT! Update: The er doctor J. Cagle said he looked over my file and saw that I was told to follow up with a neurologist and asked if I did. Which I told him that I have an appointment, but not until the end of March. He really didn't look at anything I was there for.. just my shoulder. And I was there for my rib pain which is going into my shoulder on my left side, a rash on my elbow, and lump under my right armpit. He then proceeded to tell me that er is for telling you what you don't have, not really for what you do have. Update #2: When my nurse Rachel came back I asked her what was to be done about my armpit and rash, she asked if I talked to the doctor? I said no because he was rushing. He didn't even look at my ribs! Just my shoulder. I'm getting ready to walk out. I'd rather die at this point!

My husband has scoliosis, and only 50% of his heart functioning. He out back and knocked down to the ground by one of our dogs. He couldn’t move he was knocked out for a few seconds we called an ambulance which took us to Saint Joseph’s in Saint Charles. Once we arrived, they gave him a pain pill (which he has been taking for years due to the severity of his scoliosis.) We’re not even sure who gave him that pill because no one identified themselves. The only person that was in the room and that we knew who they were was the person that came in to get all his insurance information they spent more time with him than any of the medical staff. After an hour, my husband pushed the nurses button because no one at all had came in during this time he asked for something for pain which she acknowledged, but never came in the room an hour later push the nurses button again, and with attitude she acknowledged, but then again, never came in the room. I went out to speak with her to ask again for help she followed me back into his room telling us if we would stop pushing the nurses button, she could hear what the doctor was saying on the phone. Then informed us that there is only one person in the whole state of Missouri that could read an x-ray.. we weren’t even saying anything about the x-ray. We were trying to get him out of the pain then she offered a pain patch which would be useless with this nurse attitude we knew that we were not going to get him taken care of so he did end up leaving. I do believe that they do not have any doctors in house in the emergency room that should be stated, and made clear. This nurse proceeded to write on my husband’s my chart, how unruly he was as a patient. She was very untruthful in the statement that she has on his chart. This may affect his health care in the future. This hospital should not be known as an emergency room they are not capable of handling any type of an emergency. I believe they are fraudulently advertising themselves. Do not go to this emergency room under any circumstances!! They will not be capable to help anyone.

They were pretty good on time, i didn’t have to wait long at all. They explained all the steps of what they were going to do and they were very patient and understanding. One of my doctors was a lady named Robin i believe and she was very caring and nice and helped me through the pain. And my other doctor got the job done quick and helped me through it as well. The staff was very good!

Had an episode while fasting regarding my faith. Once I arrived at St Joseph Hospital, I was met with smiling happy nurses and staff who made me feel better by caring. They listened well and comforted me along the way. The ER was clean and well kept. The doctor was bubbling with joy and due to me having to come in by ambulance, they paid for me a lift back home.. wow! Goodmornings and get well ❤️‍🩹 came from the lovely staff as I walked out the door to enter the lift. What a pleasant ER experience. Thank you all 🫶🏾🤗🙏🏾

The staff was great. The emergency room staff was nice. I told them I had tiny veins. So finally they went and got a vein finder took about a hour. The only reason I chose this hospital was because Dr. Calladrino has privileges at this hospital. When they took me to the MRI. The two transferred me onto the table and dropped me on the table. My back has been hurting me ever since. I’ve already had kyphoplasty on my back before. I sure hope nothing broke back there. No pictures to show.

ER doctor stated they are there to treat "life or death" and a few staff members made their frustrations with VA patients going there known. I was placed in a treatment room with a camera but told I wasn't being watched. When my husband asked about the camera and if its why the nurse had asked if I was wearing underwear (to put my hospital gown on), the nurse explained that I was placed in a psych room but the room next to me didnt have a camera. The doctor put notes in my paperwork that contradicted what I told her, and what her nurse had put in. Thanks Dr. Katheryn Schilling, the benadryl to sedate me really helped. I'm sorry for the inconvenience of going to your ER. They spoke ill of their 'crazy patient' they were 'dealing with' too. They weren't busy either.

Great experience. I love ❤️ St.Joe's Hosp. I just got home from there. My Dr and Nurse were awesome. I have been in that hospital several times and have been treated great always. I love the nurses and staff. The food is even good.

Honestly, the people seem to be nice and caring the nurses in the check-in ladies. But I definitely feel like the doctors can do better explaining things and making it feel less like I’m an inconvenience. Every time I go here they make me feel like I’m crazy and just tell me to go to my normal doctor. 3/10

There should be 0 stars. I come in got right in a room. 3 hours later I was told by Dr. Nathaniel W Best( I don't think he was a dr) he came in with khakis on and a black long fleece jacket with animal hair all over it. He told me I didn't have pink eye. Yet my eye was red, swollen, oozing green, burning, my sight was blurry. He said I didn't have pink eye because I had a cold and it made its way to my eye. I asked him for the medicated drops just incase. He said if I did have pink we don't prescribe drops for that. You would get them over the counter. I went to a different facility and sure enough I have pink eye so I was able to get the medicated drops. Don't waste your time and money to be told wrong. I will never be back and will let everyone know. My insurance is refusing to pay the bill because of failure to have medical knowledge and another hospital said it was definitely pink eye without a doubt.
